"Please do not cry. It kills me to see you in pain and sobbing like this." The female murmured in a quiet and caring tone, attempting to console her best friend, who was weeping in her arms. "Why does this have to happen to me all the time, Delila? What had I done to offend the Goddess?" Delila rubbed her back gently while she wailed.
"Life may be brutal at times. But, in order to achieve the bliss that awaits, you must first overcome the grief. At least, that's what I believe." Delila shook her head and glanced down at her friend.
"Do you want to know what else I believe?" Delila asked and she shook her head. "Well, my dear friend. I believe that you should accompany me tonight." "I'm not going to this ridiculous party."
"It would be a lot of fun, believe me. We can dress up, drink some liquor, and dance with some handsome attractive men. Wolves are coming from all over the packs and perhaps we could find our males." Delila eagerly cheered.
"You know I'm not going to be able to find-"
"I'm sure you've told me that a hundred times, Nesta. But that shouldn't stop you from having fun and perhaps getting laid." Nesta gasped at Delila's words.
"I'm saving my virtue for my male! You deplorable wolf." She huffed as she folded her arms across her chest. Delila chuckled, "I know, I know. But we can have a few drinks and dance, right?" Delila inquired, and she nodded.
"It's settled then, we are going.
They began getting dressed up after their chat and when Nesta had completely calmed down. Delila applied cosmetics on Nesta's face, hiding the heavy bags beneath her eyes and the paleness of her skin from days of sobbing. She aided her in applying red lipstick and blush in an attempt to make her look more lively and less pale.
"Isn't this a little too short, Delila?" Nesta inquired anxiously, her gaze fixed on her reflection in the mirror.
"Absolutely not! You have beautiful legs, Nesta. Show them off girl!"
"All right, fine," Nesta spoke in a hesitant tone. Delila grinned at her and powdered her face.
They both stepped out of Nesta's room once Delila had dressed. Nesta could see the young wolves of her pack dressed and ready for the party they were headed to through the narrow window on the stairway. Nesta swallowed and took one more look down at herself before climbing down the stairs.
"Come on, let's go seduce some hot males!" Delila grinned as she and Nesta exited Nesta's house and boarded the waiting car.
After they entered the spacious packhouse of their neighbouring pack, time flew by. It was packed with wolves from all around, music was blasting with people swaying to the music and drinking the alcohol the pack had to offer. Nesta forgot the anguish that had been eating her up from the inside as time passed. They crept in amid the crowd, making a beeline for the bar. She was ready to dance with the music after a few shots of whiskey, her hands in the air, her body moving like an uncoiling rope, her eyes on fire. Her excitement was like a shot of adrenaline to her heart, and she was suddenly moving, one with the music, one with every wild person dancing in that place. Her mind was foggy and all she could feel were the heady waves of alcohol and music. But that didn't stop her from feeling those burning eyes that were scorching her skin. Her eyes were drawn to those blazing eyes, and when the owner of those eyes approached her, all she could do was stand there. There was this kind of intoxication in those
eyes and his scent that shut the soul down and the kind that woke it up again. As the male stood tall in front of her, a part of her wanted to run and a part of her sought to perceive his touch. She knew she would have bolted for the hills if she hadn't been high on booze. But being drunk had switched off the rational parts of her brain and left the fool to run her life, to run her mouth. And she found herself in the arms of that male.
She is certain that if she had known the consequences, if she had realized what was going to happen, she would have fled to the foothills and hidden in the deepest pit of hell. But it was her fate, her destiny, and she fell straight into the cruel trap the Goddess had set for her.
