“And now I introduce to you, Spencer and Sam Michalson; daughter and son of Alpha Greg and Luna Haley Michalson of the cheetah pack, Racers!” The herald announced as my brother and I walked into the room.
“Here goes nothing,” I breathed out, getting ready to go and search for my mate.
“Good luck sis,” Sam told me as we split ways.
I nodded, but didn’t respond, as I was too nervous. I mingled among everyone, searching for my mate. I would know that I found my mate if I smelled their scent. That’s how a cheetah shifter first finds their mate. Then, it’s the looks and the touch.
My brother, a vampire, would find his mate by their scent and touch. He had to go around, shaking hands with everybody. I just had to follow my mate’s scent.
After searching for forever, the herald announced that all mated couples were to leave. I saw my brother leave with another male. That’s great! He found his mate! I didn’t.
“Okay, you four, follow me!” The herald exclaimed pointing to the first four people in the line we were lined up in.
They followed him into a closed room. Once the door shut, whispers broke out.
“I wonder what’s in there…” someone whispered.
“Are they going to kill us?” A girl asked me.
I turned to look at her and was surprised to find that she was a werewolf.
I shrugged. “There’s probably more people in there to see if they’re your mate. Remember, the non-royals and non-nobles have to search; the royals and nobles do not,” I told her.
“You mean that the royals and nobles are in there, and there’s a possibility that one of them is my mate?” She asked me, paling.
I nodded cautiously. “Yeah;” I answered.
Just then, the herald appeared. “You,” he pointed at me, “you,” he pointed at the girl next to me, “and you,” he pointed at some guy next to the girl, “follow me.” We silently followed him to the doors where he asked, “How do you find your mates?”
I sighed. “I find mine by the scent,” I told him.
“I find mine by scent and touch,” she responded.
“I find mine by scent as well,” the guys said.
“What are you? You’re not a shifter,” I said.
“I’m a siren,” he responded, smiling and showing off his razor-like teeth.
“I’m a cheetah,” I said proudly.
“And I’m a werewolf,” the girl said.
“My name’s Spencer,” I introduced myself, getting tired of calling them guy and girl.
“I’m Jason,” the siren said.
“And I’m Emmaline,” the girl said.
“Nice to meet you,” I told them, shaking their hands.
“Enough talking! When you go in, be silent and focus on finding your mate. If you do not find them, come back to the door, otherwise, follow your mate,” the herald hissed at us.
Smiling, I nodded. The doors opened and we stepped inside. I took a deep breath and caught a scent that made my cheetah come to life.
I received my tail, ears, and teeth as I began to follow the scent. I was so into following the scent that I didn’t notice that I passed all of the nobility and went straight into the royalty section. Pretty soon, I found my mate.
I looked up and saw that my mate was the...
zoheusher20: What more can I say? The writing style and little details drew me into the book and for the entirety of the story I was Juliet. I felt her turmoil and emotions and every trouble or triumph as they arrived. This story was very different and had quite a few little but unexpected twists that made it...

KerryMI: One would think the idea of vampire loving man has been over flogged, yet this story's fresh perspective on Vampires, how they live and how they connect with humans is so effortlessly narrated that it almost becomes truth. Your writing was fast enough to keep me greedily turning each page but slo...
Drew C. Elyon: I've only read one chapter so far, but from what I've seen, this is steampunk at its best. The narrative flows so beautifully I could envision every scene in an almost cinematic fashion. I believe in the complexity of simplicity, and this story has that in its descriptions.
N_F_G: This story was fantastic! It was really enjoyable, and the characters and locations felt real to me as I read the story! Celeste was an amazing character, who survived all her struggles, and I felt the author did an excellent job writing about suicide and self harm- in a sensitive, authentic mann...
William Elliott Kern: Long story, the plot uncovered midway through the story. From beginning, the story was fast moving. Then dragged on for quite some time. The Author was good in describing her characters, their clothing, etc. but a lot of that disclosure distracted from the story moving fast. Not withstanding, the...
Nanasha: I thought I'd written a comment on this story, but for some reason, I guess it didn't go through. Anyway, so this story is intensely addictive. I liked how the author uses established mythology but then gives it a unique twist. The idea of goblins all coming from the head of the king is an ama...
