Chapter 87

Gabreelle and I were locked inside our room, ” Sandy, let us out!” She yelled as she tried to kick down the door.

“No!” She shouted. “I know that he is your baby but think of how many casualties will happen more if you don’t focus!”

“She has a point.” Gabreelle said as she burries her face in her hands. Then as she lifts up her face, “I can’t focus.” She said.

I hugged her as I feel her stress, maybe it’s the guardian bond that’s making me feel what she’s feeling.

“You can do it. I’ll be by your side just tell me what to do to help you focus.” I said as i cupped her face with my hands and traced circles on her cheek with my thumb. Her eyes closed and leaned her head more on my hand.

She breathes out slowly and inhales slowly and she did it for a few minutes and when she felt calm she opened her eyes and looked at mine.

“I miss him.” She said.

“I miss him as much as you do, but we have a duty to protect our fellow wolves.” I said.

She sighed, “I know.”

“Have you got any ideas?” I asked her.

“Get your pack and Christopher’s to safety. This is not their war to take part, I won’t have anyone dying anymore.” She said.

I nod at her, I mindlinked Sean, Martin and Tom to escort every pack member to the plane. They’ll be safe back in the old pack house in the USA, it was a good idea from her.

I also told them that half of the warriors of my pack stay.

“Are you both thinking rationally now?” Asked Sandy.

“Yeah.” Said Gabreelle.

Sandy opened the door, ” So, what’s the plan?” She asked as Jude and Kade walked beside her.

“All of you go to the plane a long with my pack and Christopher’s.” I said.

“What!” Jude said. “I’m staying.” He said.

“I can’t have anyone die anymore.” Gabreelle said. “I think I’d lose it if there’s another killing spree that will happen.”

“You can’t just push us away, Bree.” Kade said.

“We’re staying.” Sandy said firmly.

“So, are my pack warriors and me.”

We all looked to who was leaning on the doorframe, it was Christopher.

“No, please. Just go.” Gabreelle said.

“We’re staying.” All of them said.

“Fine.” She said.

We went downstairs and saw that the clouds were becoming gray, all of the pack members were gone.

The pack warriors and us were the only one’s left, then the ground began to shake.

“An earthquake?” Asked kade.

Then it intesified that the trees around fell down and the ground was breaking. “There’s an underground hiding spot!” I said as I pointed my finger to the wooden shack.

We ran there and when we got there I quickly threw the carpet away and opened the door to the underground place.

As the quake intensified I heard rumbling, thunder and lightning zapping outside. Then when I looked above me I saw the excess rocks of the ground were going to fall so I pushed Gabreelle out of the way so she wouldn’t be burried by the rocks.

Christopher, Kade and I took a few steps back to let the rocks fall. It blocked the way to Gabreelle,Jude and Sandy.

“Mikhail!” Gabreelle yelled.

“I’m fine.” I said. “Are you alright? Are you hurt?”

“I’m fine.” She said.

“Dad!” Kade exclaimed.

I turned around and saw Christopher lying down and bleeding. “What happened!”

“Macy… she- before she killed Gabe sh-she threw a spear through my stomach. ” He explained. “I don’t have a lot of time left-”

“Don’t say that!” Kade said.

“What’s happening!” Yelled Gabreelle.

“Son, you-” he said as he held Kade’s nape of his neck, Kade was now in a crouched position.

“I’m sorry for being such a disappointment. I’m sorry for being a failure.” Kade said as tears were falling non stop on the ground. Christopher leaned his forehead against Kade’s.

“You may have made bad decisions in the past, son. But it didn’t change my love for you.” Christopher said. “Nothing will.”

I feel the hot tears fall down from mine as I watch them. I wiped my tears.

“Dad, don’t leave me yet. Please!” Kade said begging. “I’m sorry, please stay! Dad please!”

“Son.” Christopher said holding kade’s face- looking at his son’s eyes. “I love you. Your mother and I love you.” He says.

“I love you too, dad.” Kade said and Christopher grinned.

“Before I go-” he looked at me. “Reed.” He called.

I knelt in front of him, “You take care of my son and bree.” He said.

“I will.” I said.

“Bree! Where are you!” Yelled Macy.

“Now, son. I should pass my elements to you.” He said to Kade.

“I’d be honored.” Kade said and smiled. He looked at me, “but he needs it more.”

“What are you talking about, kade! That’s generations of your blood having passed the elements down and now it’s your turn.” I said.

“I’m not destined to live forever. Nobody can fix this- Nobody can save me.” He said. “You need it to protect, Bree.”

“I can’t accept that.” I said.

“Reed.” He said sternly. “I love that girl so much-”

I looked at him, “I love her so damn much I know I rejected her and all, I didn’t get to show her that.” He said. “Please, accept the Elements as a token of appreciation for loving her more than I could.” He said bowing his head to me.

With a heavy heart I nod my head. With that Christopher held both nerves on my forehead and channelled all his energy to me.

I closed my eyes as I take in the pain of receiving all of the elements from Earth to Wind to Water to Fire and then to Spirit.

When I opened my eyes, The rocks turned to ashes when Sandy chanted a spell.

“Christopher.” Gabreelle said barely a whisper, she walked slowly to his lifeless body and kneeled. Tears were forming in her eyes but she closed it and fought back.

“Kade! Where are you going!” Jude exclaimed.

“Buying you guys time to think of a plan.” He said as he was going through the ashes of the rocks and was going to the staircase.

“Don’t!” Gabreelle begged.

Kade looked at Gabreelle and smiled at her “I have to.”

“You don’t have to.” She said as she held his hand and tugged it to go back to where Sandy,Jude and I were.

“Bree, let me do my part.” He said.

“I don’t understand!” She said.

“I failed you once, I won’t fail you again.” He said as he hugged her. “You’ll find a way to stop Macy and Alex. I know you will.” He said.

All of us were quiet watching Gabreelle and Kade.

“I don’t even know what to do!” She yelled in frustration.

“Bree, you know. You always know, you’re smart. You’ll figure it out.” He said and pulled away from the hug.

“Don’t go.” She said her voice strained. “Not you too.”

“Bree, I’ll die either way.” He said. “At least in this way, I’ll die trying to help protect you.”

Gabreelle was wiping her tears she couldn’t speak.

“I love you, I always will.” Kade said smiling and kissed her head. “At least I’ll die a happy man knowing that you’re happy and inlove with Reed.”

He looked at me and smiled, “Thanks for everything, man.” He said.

I nod at him.

“Sandy, jude bro, Thanks for everything.” He said smiling at them, he glanced one last time at Christopher he breathed out a long breath and went upstairs.
