1: "You're leaving"

Don’t you hate when you’ve been having the perfect day, you got that A on a test you thought you fail? The lunch you had today was the best lunch every. The test in Math was postponed until tomorrow. It was just perfect until someone decides to ruin it. I just got home after having that good day…..just for my mom to ruin mine.

“You sending me across the country! For what?” I yelled after my mom following her into the kitchen.

“Does it have to be a reason?” She asks me grabbing her oven mittens.

“Well, that’s the stupidest question I’ve heard all day. Trust me, I’ve heard some crazy ones today.” I followed her over to the oven.

“Anglia! I don’t even see why you are complaining. You finally got your wish to leave this town… To leave me.” She said taking the casserole out the oven.

I flinch at her words. How is she going to throw my words back in my face? She gave me a look taking off the mittens throwing them on the counter, pushing past me to get to the refrigerator. I let out a sigh following after her.

“You know I never really mean any of that. People always say things they don’t mean.” I told her.

My mom and I have a love-hate relationship. She’s barely home during the week since my dad left ten years ago. I was seven when he woke me up early on the day he left. He sat there and look down at me for a minute before saying anything.

“I’m leaving today Angel and I might not be coming back. I just wanted to say goodbye to you before I leave.” With that, he pulled me to him in a hug.

I hug him back confused at why he’s leaving, but I stayed silent. Now thinking back to that day I wonder why I just let him walk away. Why did I react so calm? Maybe it’s because my parents were deeply in love and one day that love dissolve into thin air. Maybe it’s because I didn’t care that he was leaving me. And that’s when my love and hate relationship started with my mom because I didn’t care. Don’t get me wrong, I love my dad to the moon and back, but he was a grown man. If he wanted to leave and maybe never come back that was up to him. My mom, fully disagreed with that when she asks me why I didn’t try to stop him.

“I can’t believe you!” She yelled at me.

I sat on the couch that next morning looking at her in confusion.

“What can’t you believe?” I ask her.

“That you got the brain of your father.”

We couldn’t really agree on nothing after that. As I grow older the more different we become to each other. It’s like I’m a whole different species from her.

“Lies has some truth in them Anglia. Just stop arguing with me okay, you’re already in rolled and your flight is leaving tomorrow night. It’s time anyway.” She told me to take out the pitcher of water and a bowl of salad from the fridge.

“It’s time? Does this have something to do with my dad?” I ask her.

She just looks at me before going over to grab the casserole from the oven. I watch her set the casserole in the middle of the table. My mom moved around the kitchen trying to finish setting up the table. She was avoiding looking in my eyes….

“It totally has something to do with my dad. What? Is he coming back?” I ask her to take a seat.

“Anglia! Let. It. Go.” My mom said in her serious voice.

I shut my mouth digging into the casserole. We stayed silent for the most part of dinner. I’m not worried about going to a new school, even when it’s an academy. I’ve always been socially confident. I play all the sports I can, except cheerleader, which keeps my body fit. The guy at school always tries to get in my pants, but I’m not one of those girls. I have lost my virginity to a fuck boy. Who left town a month after I laid his ass, but I won’t be getting into that right now.

“You might need to start packing tonight, you’re leaving Sunday.” My mom said, taking the dirty dishes to the sink.

“I don’t get to say bye to my friends, my teammates?” I ask her.

“I’m sorry Anglia. You’ll thank me later.” With that, she walks out, leaving the dishes and food out.

I sighed before starting to clean up the kitchen.

Gladys: I enjoy so far the twists and turns of the story. Usually the FML gets saved from extreme violence and SA, but not in this case. So, that adds a layer of complexity to the story and some realism to this paranormal tale.moon goddess part wasn't my fav. She seemed kinda weak and a bit cheesy but th...
