Prologue

Buzz.

Smack.

Silence.

She glanced around...

Nothing.

It's my imagination, she thought.

But she wasn't sure.

Just a moment ago, she thought she heard the vibrato of a buzzing creature; As if it were getting closer or coming out from somewhere inside her.

Instinctively she took a swat at the air.

The buzzing stopped.

Where did it go?

Did she kill it? Did she injure it?

Whatever, she thought. It's gone.

To be honest, she didn't really know if she heard it at all.

Tinnitus.

Insanity.

The former merely required a thorough cleaning of the ears. The latter, required considerably a lot more work.

Most times she chose to think it was tinnitus. She didn't get enough sleep, she said. She's stressed, she said. And each time she was right. She hadn't gotten enough sleep or she was currently burdened by things out of her control.

But every time a little voice inside her continued to give her cause to doubt.

Maybe you're going batshit crazy, it said.
