C2C- A Short Horror by Ransom Malice

It was like a ritual, every night after 10pm he logged into a chatroom using the alias “Bulging_Bronco”. He didn’t want to make friends or converse on a mature level but rather find a like-minded female who was prepared to lower her standards and perform for his pleasure. Todd wasn’t after a girlfriend, all he wanted was uncomplicated, no-strings sex. Alas, the real thing was unlikely so he had a developed method for guaranteeing the next best thing on a nightly basis.

He watched as hundreds of names, 90% of which were quickly identifiable as male, scrolled up his screen. He had a knack after thousands of random personal messages, otherwise known as pms, to locate the handful who might be interested in a conversation or, better yet, flashing their breasts on their cam. The names had to imply someone innocent yet clearly up for fun. His eyes quickly locked onto Nutty_Nikki_23. She had a photo in her profile header, a selfie of a red head with a cheeky grin and pure skin. Now for the make or break first liner.

Bulging_Bronco: Hi Nikki, how’s your night going? 28 m UK here, asl (age, sex, location)?

He waited for a few minutes biting his lip and scrolling down the list of names looking for alternative women to pm. He would often send hundreds of pms in one night without any takers so he was used to being ignored. 5 minutes would be his limit before moving onto the next. There was a chime on his computer.

Nutty_Nikki_23: Hi Bronco, lol. 23 f USA. Must be late there.

Bulging_Bronco: It is, kinda, 10pm but am a nightowl lol. What brings you here? Ur cute ;-)

Nutty_Nikki_23: Thank you. Chat, friends, fun. Wink.

Bulging_Bronco: What kinda fun? Sexy fun?

Nutty_Nikki_23: Maybe. Don’t have a bf right now. U seem fun.

Bulging_Bronco: Offers you cuddles and more. You C2C?

C2C or Cam to cam was the Holy Grail as far as Todd was concerned, 99% of the time was either no or just plain old end of conversation. It was worth a punt; after all it wasn’t like he was ever going to meet this girl in the street.

Nutty_Nikki_23: Yea, okay.

Todd nearly fell off his seat. He turned his cam on and waited. His face eventually appeared on his screen, the light from which made him look sinister. He tried to make himself as presentable as possible in the few seconds he had as he waited for Nikki to accept his cam request.

She appeared onscreen; she looked exactly like her profile picture. Result, Todd thought as he smiled and waved.

Bulging_Bronco: Hi, ur gorgeous.

Nutty_Nikki_23: Hi, so what u wanna do?

Bulging_Bronco: Kinda wanna see the rest of you.

Nutty_Nikki_23: Okay.

She stood up and moved back from her cam. She wore tight jeans and a low cut t-shirt which clung to her tight stomach and wrapped itself around her breasts. Todd found it impossible to contain his excitement as his eyes mapped her. She could see he was doing something to himself as she paraded around her room. She lifted off her top to reveal her black bra. Todd lifted off his shirt, he was chubby and hairy but that didn’t seem to deter her. She returned to her chair.

Nutty_Nikki_23: You’ve seen me, show me you.

Todd obliged and stood up. He walked to the centre of his room and proceeded to remove his trousers. Exposing himself to a complete stranger didn’t faze him at all, quite the opposite. Nikki smiled and licked her lips urging him on.

Nutty_Nikki_23: I know a naughty trick.

Todd returned to his screen.

Bulging_Bronco: Go on.

Nutty_Nikki_23: Stand back and look at me. Really focus on me.

Todd did as requested. He stood at the centre of his room performing a ridiculous dance, running his hands all over his body to her stare. He wondered what she was up to, she wasn’t moving very much. He didn’t break his gaze on her, their eyes seemingly locked on one another.

Nutty_Nikki_23: Now look around you.

He looked to his left and right. Instead of the rest of his room, he saw black solid walls either side of him. He pushed the wall as hard as he could but it wouldn’t budge. He slammed his fists against them and called out for help but it was to no avail. From her perspective, the walls exactly matched the edges of his cam. He returned to his desk.

Bulging_Bronco: Hey what is this? Hey???

Nutty_Nikki_23: Don’t worry, I’ll look after you. I’ll look after all of you.

Nikki leant back in her chair and looked to all the other screens hanging on her wall. There were hundreds of them all screaming and banging their fists against their screens and the walls around them. Nikki smiled at them like a child smiling at her pet fish.

She positioned Todd’s screen on her ever crowded wall. She kissed her fingers and pressed them on Todd’s screaming face. She was spared Todd’s harrowing cries for help.

She pulled one of ten sealed boxes out from beneath her desk. She opened it and pulled out a new screen which she linked up to her computer. Then she visited another chatroom and waited for the inevitable pm.

“I’ll look after all of you.” She smiled.

skippybash12: This story has engaging characters that you care about and a plot that is unpredictable and exciting. It is well written with a believable voice. Great weekend escape and if there was a sequel available I would buy it today -

Kastril Nomenclature: This is a very clever story in the style of 19th century (and turn of the century) Gothic writing, very reminiscent of Stevenson's The Body Snatchers or even of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (less so of Frankenstein itself, since the author is more minimalist than Shelley's florid, Romantic rhetoric). ...

mjtelesca: The plot keeps the reader interested, and you want to help the main characters in their conflicts. A very interesting ending that makes the reader think and talk about it. Minor punctuation and grammatical mistakes but does not impede the overall story. Any fan of action/adventure will enjoy t...

Maryam Rehman: The story was overall amazingly penned down. I loved how the story transitioned from the lavish city of London to the war torn Aleppo. Even though the story had some loopholes in some places, it made me contemplate failing in chemistry, because I was up all night glued to my mobile screen rather ...

MusketeerAdventure: Well - I really enjoyed this very much! The whole idea of a shared haunting really intrigues me. I thought you did a wonderful job; and I really liked the idea of hearing from the first ghost's point of view. It would be interesting to read more about these two - and the ghost-busters that inf...

Ben Gauger: Kudos to Bryan Laesch, author of Remnants of Chaos:Chaotic Omens for his use of the Gothic style of writing and in addition the footnotes and endnotes at the end of each chapter, a welcome accompaniment to be sure, though his use of grammar could use a little improving, but his use of punctuation...

Resting-Madness: I've been in love that strongly, that I could see myself in the same situation as Surgio. The slow crawl of desperation was well depicted, I could feel myself leaning close to the screen, like he and I were conspiring together on how to construct this Frankenstein of Adela. And that's written thr...

CornflowerBlues: I'm liking everything about this story so far: the brazen detective, the way he gave in to temptation, the temptation (<3!!), and the unexpectedly complex backdrop of his job and the case he's working. The story is well written, and despite its erotica tag, has an intriguing detective story and a...

Caitlin E. Jones: There is something genuinely sweet, child-like, and heartfelt about stories where books comes to life. For me, at the least, since one of my favorite books- "Inkheart" by Cornelia Funke, uses the concept lavishly. This piece brought back those same warm feelings, with its loyalty to the fairytale...
