The Collector

Be careful not to feel any emotion, whether negative or positive, too strongly, or He will take an interest in you. If He does take an interest in you, then there's a good chance that you will become His puppet. His name is the Collector. If you feel like you're being watched, don't feel relieved when you don't see anyone because that doesn't mean that He's not there…watching and waiting. He could be anyone around you, even your dog or the spider on the wall. Of course, He'll never let you become aware of Him past feeling as if you're being watched. If He does want you, then you'll never be safe. It'll only be a matter of time before He comes for you and takes you away.

He'll come in the form of your girlfriend or your boyfriend coming to pick you up for your date. You'll notice small differences, but nothing you think to worry about. As you're taken further and further away from the city, however, you start to panic and wonder where you're going, but He'll give you some reassuring words and you'll forget your fear. Most do anyway. Few notice the subtle gleam of victory in His eyes, but those that do become unnerved and stay worried. Once the car stops past the city limits in some deserted stretch of highway, the panic returns. You turn to ask why you are there, only to find that your girlfriend/boyfriend has become a completely different person…literally.

Those few souls that have escaped Him say that He has flawless alabaster skin, golden hair tied back in a braid, and gorgeous sapphire eyes (those that are sane enough to describe Him that is). His looks stun you just as much as the fact that it's not your date sitting beside you, even though they were the ones that had driven you out there. The screams only start when He grabs your arms and red tentacles of light flow out of Him and begin to slowly engulf you. Once they've got you, it's nearly impossible to escape, and if you don't escape now then you will never escape Him. The light fully swallows you, and suddenly vanishes. Instead of being in the oh-so-familiar car of your lover, you are now strapped, eagle-spread, to a large bed in a foreign room. Your fear and panic fully consume you, but it will do you no good. He is standing beside the bed, running His hands up and down your side gingerly.

His hand goes up to your throat and you see the twisted smile on His handsome face as He feels your heartbeat against His palm. Your screams die down as a strange light starts glowing just under your field of vision, and you realize that they are dying down because your voice is vanishing. The ball of light is brought into your view and then He puts it into a doll version of you.

You open your mouth to scream as the doll screams with your voice, but no sound escapes your throat. "Silence, my puppet." He commands, and your mouth closes of its own accord. The fear wells up inside of you without an outlet as you slowly realize that your body is under His control more than it is under yours. He unties you and strokes your hair like you would a friendly dog's, all the while smiling that twisted smile of His. "You're mine, all mine. My doll, my puppet, my vessel of emotion…forever." You see it in the mirror then, His mark: the black circle around your neck with an X on your windpipe. There is nothing you can do once you've been marked. From now until the end of time, you are His and only His. Enjoy your new life, my latest unsullied doll…

briggy1998: I really enjoyed the book, even though I had to skip a few lines, because at times it could get a bit disturbing🙆🏻😅What I would have liked is if you could have given a bit more insight into jack's and fiona's relationship, especially the epilogue was a bit short 😬Other than that an amazing story!

Deleted User: I loved this story. It was so great that I did not expect it to be this awesome. I swear to you this deserves more than just 5 stars. Beyond amazing. warehalleyr: I usually have a difficult time staying interested in books long enough to actually finish them. This story however, had me so caught up that I'd only stop to sleep at 3am when my body would no longer allow me to keep my eyes open. Shweta Somwanshi: I just chose to read this out of nowhere and now I can't stop. Hats off to the author who made the reader swoon away with words so beautifully! Kayresia A. Bass: Loved it. Author did some insane research to bring this story to life. A little short for my taste, but an awesome story nonetheless. A few missing periods, and a few missing ending quotation marks, but not enough to take away from the story.Keep going. Add more detail to your future stories and ...

Althea Kerr: This is a tale that is all too familiar to South African readers having lived through a war era on our borders and beyond. It is obviously autobiographical as the mind under duress is so detailed and real. It has fantastic suspense if a bit disjointed - perhaps that is the fear and loneliness com...

Kiz16: After a truly shocking start to the story, I found the style and content slowed down as the author introduced a varied group of characters who I thought were fleshed out very well. After a slow couple of chapters, I found this story difficult to leave with the tension growing within the house. Yo...

Ali Albazaz: I started reading "Caged" few hours ago and I'm on chapter 7 now. Caged is definitely one of the most addictive stories I've ever read. Thank you so much for writing this novel.

Avintika Narayan: I quite liked this novel because it's horror. The start was brilliant. It made me so curious that I actually wanted to read it. The author did an amazing job. CookieMonster911: The story overall was an adventure that is appealing to any age. The way the characters develop adds a more human characteristic to the novel.
