Awakening

There a car on road in the middle of Kentucky. The Radio inside is becoming static which wasn’t all that odd, with a smart person as the driver, being in the middle of know where. The driver is young plump woman with lush swooping curves, blond hair that frequently covers her bright brilliant eyes showing like stars, thin eye brows arching over a black iris. The firm tapered female chin, not broad like a male’s. This woman who was nearly a goddess in a imperfectious(imperfect) world was called Leslie Pete. She kept driving with her eyes firmly on the road, but fiddles with the nob, but couldn’t find a channel; which was bizarre to say the least because she wasn’t too far from town. She feels a yawn escape from her mouth but being that this was the middle of the day and having a full night’s sleep; it was rather odd. The blackness was creeping up on her. She couldn’t keep her eyes open and at her best, she flutters her eyes in a desperate attempt to keep her eyes open. Every second her eyes become closer to closing. Finally darkness overtakes her.

When life finally returns back into her body, her mind is foggy and she has no idea what happened. She is happy to just remember her name. Thinking back a couple of days or even hours, causes her head to hurt. She had been driving to her husband who is waiting at conference for her, Kurt, for what seems like only a few minutes ago. She is curled up on the floor feeling the damp and hot environment through her torn and ragged hospital gown, once she stretches out, she gazes over the environment. She is awoken to a nightmare: dingy old hallway in a doctor’s office judging from the pictures of human anatomy on the walls. The hall is littered with skeletons; some in wheelchairs, while others in stretchers. The hallway would once have been crowded. She saw something in the far back, impossible to exist. It seems like a writhing mass of vines. She finally stands up to explore, walking into the nearest office, opening an old wooden door that is rotten to the core that eerily squeaks on its hinges. The office was dark and deathly still. She finds the light switch but, unsurprisingly given the state of the office, there is no power. She stares into the dark trying to make out the details. Behind a large rusted desk is an ancient skeleton with pen in hand. There is a faded piece of paper in front of the skeleton that reads: gods forgive are sins. The wall on either side of the room is covered by mold and the far right wall was enveloped by vines. Flowers sprouted from the vines, hues of red, blue, gold, and violet.

Her mind flashes bringing memories for the briefest moment, the creeping darkness. Her location makes her wonder if she was injured and hospitalized. She didn’t seem injured. She steps back into the hall. The time frame and the dead were causing her head to spin. What had happened here? She could tell from the completely decayed bodies and the very smell of the putrid air, it had happened years ago. But there was hardly any information to go on. Clearly the world couldn’t be turned on its head so quickly. Being that she was in a hospital perhaps a plague broke out. Somehow she survived, however this was unlikely. The last place you want to be in during a plague is a hospital. The sick would seek help bringing with them disease, and eventually, death. Her mind is sure this was impossible, but what could cause someone to die at a desk instead of being at home with their family? These questions scare her worse than the environment.
