Chapter X

I woke up in the Infirmary when the sun began to hit my face. I open my eyes groggy and looked around. I felt slightly dizzy as I try to sit up straight. I felt a numb pain in my head. I looked around the Infirmary looking for a clock to tell me what time it is. But I didn't locate one.

"Ah you're awake." Nurse Anna said as she walked over to my cot. She was drinking coffee.

"Is your head feeling any better?" Nurse Anna asked. She looked worried.

I shook my head, saying no it didn't hurt.

"Good I want you to go to the Massing Hall to get your breakfast, I have inform Head Council Emily who told Mrs. George to save something for you to eat. Also I want you to come back to the infirmary every hour, so I can check your head wound okay?" Nurse Anna said.

"Yes Nurse Anna. Before I go to the Massing Hall can I please know what time it is and where the other campers are?" I asked.

"It is 9:15 A.M. and the other campers are out canoeing and they won't be back in till noon. So I want you to go back to your cabin and relax after finishing your breakfast." Nurse Anna said. I carefully got out of the cot and began to head towards the exit of the Infirmary. Standing outside the Infirmary was the Head Council Emily.

"Oh hello dear, how is you head?" Council Emily asked. She had a worried and pale complexion.

"I'm doing okay. I am off to go get some breakfast." I said, I could feel my stomach grumble.

I remember that I didn't have dinner since I was pushed into the corner of a Picture frame. I excuse myself and began walking towards the direction of the Massing Hall. I arrived shortly afterwards. It was quiet and all I could hear was the birds singing a nice melody and the familiar sound of the wind blowing in the leaves, making the hushing sounds. I open the doors of the Massing Hall that was empty, No sounds of giggling, whispering, or chat from other campers. It was just quiet and empty. I walked inside and quietly walked towards the food line to see what Mrs. George had left me. I found a note that the breakfast was in the fridge. I went to the fridge and open the door. The cool air from the fridge made me shiver a little bit. I grab the breakfast and a glass of orange juice. I had a piece of toast with grape jam on it and bowl of fruit salad. I smiled and quickly walked towards an empty table. I looked around the room to see if they had clean up the mess. They did. The picture frame was in the trash can. I carefully grabbed the picture frame carefully so I don't cut myself. I began to study it. Trying to figure out if there is anymore hidden things inside the frame. A small slip of paper fell out and I quickly put the picture frame back into the trash can. I began to unfold the slip of paper. But Head Council Emily walked in. I quickly hid the paper in my pocket. I began to take bites of food to make it looked like I was eating early. She looked pale and grabbed the garbage bag with the broken picture frame and then quickly left. I sighed a little bit and began taking smaller bites from my toast. I grabbed the slip of paper out of my pocket and began to unfold it again. On the note was neat handwriting.

" "Long Lankin" Book shelve holds a photograph." The note said. At the bottom to the right corner a letter "C" was written there.

I looked over to the book shelve of the Massing Hall.

I took a quick swig of my orange juice and got up from the table that I was sitting at.

"It's worth a shot, maybe it will give me some answers and maybe I can figure out who "C" is." I thought as I carefully made my way to the book shelves.

I began to read through the tittles of the books. I then moved onto another shelve.

"Nope not there." I thought, as I skimmed the second shelve.

Then I looked down and saw the book there. It was on the sixth shelve that was on the ground. I knelled down to the floor carefully not to hit my head on anything. I grabbed the book and carefully pulled it out from the shelve. Dust covered the poor book as if it hadn't been read in years. I blow off the dust from the book and it came off the book as a huge cloud. I sneezed.

"Bless you." Eric's voice came behind me.

I whirled around to see Eric sitting on the ledge of a open window. I had my hand on my chest, it was pounding really fast.

"Didn't mean to scare you." Eric said. He began looking around the room.

"So what are you doing?" Eric said as he moved closer to me. He was eyeing my head.

He arched his brow and looked a bit worried for a split second.

"What happen to you head?" Eric said. He was now standing in front of me. He looked at me with his pretty green eyes.

" No Lupita you barely know him. But his green eyes are really pretty." I thought to myself.

"I was pushed into a picture frame last night at dinner." I said. I could feel my face heat up with embarrassment.

"Let me guess, one of the Hoock sisters pushed you into the picture frame." Eric said, he didn't seem to notice how pink my cheeks are from embarrassment.

"I have a question for you though." I said as I eyed him as he looked at the wall where the picture frame was missing.

"What is it?" He asked as his green eyes locked onto my hazel ones.

"How do you get here? Also how do you know so much stuff that happen here." I asked.

He let out a sigh, he looked down as he brush his fingers through his hair.

"I go to Mellow Lake All Boys Summer Camp, it is just across the lake from each other. Also there is a secret bridge that makes it easy to cross over here." Eric said.

"Oh." I said, I walked over to my seat where my half eaten breakfast was left.

I began open the book to began skimming through the pages, suddenly a piece of paper fell out of the book onto the table.

It was in a different hand writing and I know who's handwriting it was. It was Savannah's handwriting.

"So I take it that your not going to take my warning." Eric said.

I looked up at him.

"Well I am curious and I can help you solve this crime if you exchange some information." I said.

Eric nodded his head, his straight black hair today was a little bit messy when he began to nodded his head.

"What do you want to know?" Eric said. He looks at me with his pretty green eyes which reminds me of the color of jade and the forest.

"One is that girl I keep seeing around the camp a ghost or something?" I asked.

"It's a ghost, she was murder on July 6, 2011 by the Hoock sisters. Her body wasn't found. Her grave is up the road at the small church." Eric said.

"Okay next question what is her name, also tell me what she was like here at camp." I asked.

Suddenly we both heard campers coming back from the canoeing trip. I looked at the clock and saw that it was only ten.

"I have to go. I will explain everything next time." Eric said as he got up and walked towards the window and jumped down and began running towards the woods. I sighed. I looked at the paper and quickly stuff it into my pocket, haven't gotten a chance to read it yet. I then heard thunder rumbling in the distance. I quickly finish the rest of my breakfast and then began cleaning the dishes when I am finished.

"Oh Lupita, you don't have to do that. I will do it." Mrs.George said.

I smiled and nodded my head and I began to head to the Infirmary as I promise Nurse Anna every hour to have my head check.
