Chapter 4

"How about you guys?" I asked my friends.

"The same as usually." Naomi said. Lynix shrug her shoulders.

"May I have your attention!" Council Emily shouted over the chattering

girls in the Messing Hall.

"Good afternoon everyone. Today we will be having a camp fire down near the

dock at 7:30 PM." Council Emily said.

"Do you guys want to come?" I said.

"Yes! It would be so much fun!" Melody shouted.

Her face lights up so much. I smiled, suddenly I felt liquid coming down part of

my back and the top of my head. Melody's smile slips off her face.

"Oops, I didn't see you there." It was Lucy.

I could hear her friends snickering and giggling behind her. I didn't answer, all I

did was blink. I clench my hands into fists, I felt my fingernails going into my

flesh.

"YOU DID THAT ON PURPOSE!" Hernrietta shouted as she stood up from her seat.

Naomi and Lynix glared at Lucy and her friends. Her friends instantly became

quiet. Lucy rolls her eyes.

"What proof do you have? It was an accident. My hand slipped." Lucy said

in fake hurt as she gesture dramatically towards her chest.

Henrietta lets out a growl. She glares at Lucy, who smirks more. She flipped her

hair and she walked away with her friends. The sun was setting near the tip of

the mountain. It was 7 o'clock. My shirt and my hair was soaking wet. My hair

was dripping small water droplets, and it hit the table. Melody quickly handed

me her handkerchief.

"Thanks." I said.

I gently took the handkerchief and placed it on my bangs, trying to dry it a little

bit. There was a cool breeze coming through the window.

"I'm going back to the cabin to change into a dry shirt." I said as I stood up from the table.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Naomi said.

I shaking my head, "No thanks, I will be fine. I'll meet you guys at

the bonfire." I said as I placed my tray on the counter.

I walked out the double doors. There was a cool breeze causing my teeth to

start chatting. The sunset was golden, orange, and a deep red. It was slowly

beginning to fade. I walked quickly in the direction of the cabin.

...drip...

...drip...

...drip...

My ears pricked up a faint sound of dripping. I could feel the hairs on the back

of my neck. I waited again to see if I could hear it again.

...drip...

...drip...

...drip...

I heard it again. I looked over my shoulder, towards the dock. Movement

caught my eye. Standing there was the girl I saw early, but this time she didn't

have hatred written on her face, but an eerie creepy smile on her face. She was

standing on the edge of the dock , soaking wet. She was looking directly at me.

I blinked and when I reopen my eyes, she was gone. My breath got caught in my

throat. I rubbed my eyes and blink again. Nobody was on the dock, I could feel

goosebumps raising on my arms. With that I ran to Cabin 16. But curiosity

wraps around me.

"Who is that girl? Why do I keep seeing her? Is she a camper?" I thought as I

ran towards Cabin 16. I finally arrived to my cabin the sky was pitch black and

the cool breeze tousles my hair. I ignore the words on the door and quickly

stepped into the cabin. I turn one the two lamps on to see. I open my trunk and

stripped off my soaking wet shirt, I grabbed my galaxy grey sweatshirts with the

words VMI written on it. I brought the sweatshirts when my family came to visit

my older sister and cousin at VMI. I grabbed a hairbrush and quickly brush my

hair. I left the cabin but before I left I grabbed a flashlight. I turn it on before I

turn off the lamps in the cabin. I walked a couple of minutes when I saw a bright

glow of the bonfire. I walked and was now standing where the party was. Girls

were standing there roasting marshmallows or sitting on wooden logs seats,

talking and laughing. I found my friends on a long log. I walked over to them.

"Hey." I said.

"Hey Lupita. Do want to roast some marshmallows?" Lynix asked. I smiled,

"Yeah that would be nice." I said. We roasted marshmallows for a couple of

minutes. Then the rest of the time we sat there talking for an hour.

"Okay campers it is time for you to go back to your cabins." Council Hannah

said. Girls began to get up and begin walking into the darkness towards there

cabins. I grabbed the flashlight and turned it on. We arrived to our cabins and walked inside and shut the door.
