~15 Years Later~
"Alexander, you haven't spoken in over fifteen years. I'm sorry, but they're taking me off of your case. You won't let me help you." The doctor explains sadly. The young man doesn't react and looks at him as if he wasn't there. "Alexander! Please, at least tell me why you did it! Why did you murder your step-father!" The doctor shouts finally fed up with the years of silence. The doctor waits for any type of response from the young man. He gets up and sighs. "I'm sorry Alexander, but this is goodbye." He watches his former doctor leave.
"Doctor Harrison, are you really leaving?" A guard asks.
"Yes, though I do not wish too, it's an order from higher up. I have no choice in the matter." Harrison explains.
"What about Kizoku?"
"That man has no emotions, no conscience, nothing. He's empty and hollow." "For fifteen years, he hasn't spoken a word. A medical examiner was killed by him when he tried to check his larynx for any damage."
"He killed the examiner!?"
"Yes, with his bare hands. He's not human, he's more of an animal." The guard doesn't say anything as he unlocks the gate for the doctor. "I don't think I'll miss this place."
"No one ever does. Drive safely, doctor." The doctor nods and drives off.
The guards' chain Alexander up and lead him back to his cell. They close the door behind him and begin to walk away before a new guard begins to harass him.
"So this is the son of a bitch who killed his daddy."
"That's enough O'Connor, let's go."
"Don't tell me your scared of this pansy."
"O'Connor that 'pansy' killed a man with his bare hands. If you value your life I suggest yo-" He gets cut off as Alexander snaps O'Connor's neck and begins to walk towards the other guard.A-Alexander, please don't, please just got back to your room." The guard pleads. He ignores the man's pleading and continues to stalk towards him. The guards stand there frozen by fear, as he faces death wearing human flesh.
He stands in front of the guard and grabs his face, and lifts him up off the ground. He squeezes his face until his eyes begin to bleed, his skull begins to crack causing his fingers to sink into his face. He then rips his hand out, taking his face with him leaving only blood and the other half of his skull behind. The guard falls to the floor and Alexander takes his keys and leaves slaughtering everyone he came upon. Once he gets out of the sanitarium he begins his journey back to his home town Ashenmoor, Maine.
I stand in front of the mirror and begin to brush my long dark brown hair. I quickly apply my make-up before my cellphone rings.
"Hey~ I'm waiting outside, hurryyyy!"
"Calm down Maria, I'll be down in a second."
"Juliaaa~" She whines. I sigh.
"Okay, I'm coming down now." I sigh in defeat. I grab my bag and rush down the stairs and out the door. I climb into Maria's red sedan and she sighs.
"Finally, you're so slow."
"Slow? Your the one who's ten minutes late." I tease. She blushes.
"This," She stops and points at herself, "doesn't just happen." I laugh and shake my head.
"Geez, did you at least do the chem homework."
"We had chem homework?" She asks confused.
"Yes, let me guess Brian was hogging your attention." She huffs.
"That jack-ass! When I see him I swear I'll kick his ass!" She shouts suddenly pissed.
"What happened this time?"
"He was texting Lucy again!"
"Wasn't he friends with her before you guys started dating?" I asked.
"Yes, but, as his girlfriend, he shouldn't be so friendly towards her!"
"You guys won't last if you keep that up, Mimi."
"I know it's not right, but I just get so jealous!" She huffs.
"Don't you trust him?"
"That has nothing to do with it." She mumbles.
"You know it does. Make your opinion known about his relationship with her."
"...God, you make one hell of a physiologist."
We pull up into our high school parking lot.
"God, why do they make us get up so early!" She shouts as we climb out of the car. She locks the doors as we walk towards the entrance. "Oh my god! I totally forgot we have the Halloween dance this weekend!" She shouts excited. "So Julie, who are you going to ask?" She asks poking my side. I swat her hand away.
"What! Why not?" She shouts causing people to look at us.
"Because, for one it's overrated, and secondly all people do is grind on each other, it's gross." I finish.
"You so need to get laid," she says deadpan.
"Mimi!" I shout blushing, completely embarrassed.
"What it's true," she says shrugging her shoulders.
"That's not the point!" I close my eyes. "God, why do I put up with you?"
"Because you love me," she says smiling innocently.
"I don't think that's good enough."
"Oh, I'm also your best friend!"
"Oh? Are you now?" I tease.
"Suzanna!" She shouts hitting my shoulder. We joke as we enter our classroom.
"Yeah Mimi, you know she likes me better!"
"Oh shut up Patricia."
"Fight me," she says holding up her fists.
"Oh, you're on," Maria jokes holding her's up.
"Knock it off you two," I sigh. They laugh as they sit down.
"Such a hard ass," Patrica jokes.
"I mean she does have buns of steel," Maria chimed in.
"Please stop talking about my butt."
The final bell rings and everyone begins to flood out of the building.
"God do any of you morons know how to fucking walk!" Patrica shouts.
"Miss Bernard, please watch your mouth."
"Mr. Daniels we both know that I can't physically watch my mouth."
"Always such a smart ass," he sighs. "Get out of here before I give you detention."
"I'd like that," she says giving him a wink.
"Come on," I sigh pulling her to Mimi's car.
"You whore!" Mimi shouts once we get into her car. "You're screwing Mr. Daniels!" Patrica smiles.
"Yep," she says popping her p.
"Isn't he married," I ask.
"I don't know, I couldn't really ask if you know what I mean."
"You're such a slut," Maria sighs. I shake my head and look out the window. Standing across the street is a man wearing a fox mask just watching us.
"Hey do you guys see him, he's just staring at us." They look at me, and then out the window.
"Suzie, there isn't anyone there," Patrica says looking around.
"Yeah, I don't see anyone either." I look back to where the man was standing.
"But he was just there," I say confused.
"It was probably someone dressed up early, It is October Suzie," Patrica says trying to calm me down.
"You're right, I was just overreacting."
"So what is everyone dressing up as for the dance?" Patrica asks.
"I want to go as a nurse," Mimi says.
"I was thinking of going as a devil." "What about you Julie?" Mimi asks.
"I don't know."
"You should go as an angel. So pure and innocent," Mimi says mockingly.
"I'm not innocent." I huff.
"Yeah, and I'm a pure saint," Patrica snorts.
"Oh come on, it'll look cute," Mimi pleads.
"I'm not an angel!" I say defensively. They look at each other then at me. "I'm not!" I say trying to convince them. I bite my bottom lip. "Fine! I'll go as the angel!" They smile and Maria begins to drive.
We stop at the local Walmart and begin to look at the costumes, Patrica picks out the nurse, devil, and angel outfits. She then throws it at us and tells us to try it on. I enter the dressing room and change into the costume. Once I finish I peak outside the door and step out.
"Damn, you look hot," Maria says.
"Isn't it a little raveling?"
"No it's perfect," Patrica says smiling, clasping her hands together her eyes sparkling. I blush and suddenly my body breaks out into a cold sweat. I look around and my eyes land on a man wearing a kitsune mask. I blink and rub my eyes. I look back over and he's gone.
"Hey Julie, you good?" Maria asks. I nod. "Well let's go and pay."
After Maria drops me off, I throw a bag of popcorn in the microwave and quickly change into a tank top and some sweats, and throw my hair into a bun. I empty the popcorn into a bowl a put on Friday the 13th. I pull my blanket up to my shoulders and begin eating my popcorn. Sometime during the middle of the movie I begin to get tired, so I switch off the movie and make my way upstairs and collapse onto my twin size bed.
I wake up to the blaring of my alarm clock.
"No~" I whine hitting the snooze button. Before I could fall back asleep the alarm goes off again. I groan and throw the covers off and reluctantly climb out of bed. I walk into the bathroom and groan as I look into the mirror. "Crap, I forgot to wash off my make up." I turn the on the faucet and wash my face. I look up and my eyes connect with a pair of dark grey almost black eyes. I shriek and whirl around to find no one there.
"Suzanna! Are you alright?" My father asks banging on the door.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry," I respond, still looking around for whatever it was I saw.
"Are you sure?" He asks worry still evident in his voice.
"Yeah, I just saw a spider," I lie.
"Be careful," he says before chuckling.
"I-I will," I say embarrassed. I cautiously look back at the mirror and begin brushing my teeth, keeping my eyes glued on the window. I rinsed mouth out with mouthwash. I quickly brush my hair and throw it up before heading back upstairs to get dressed. I throw on a light blue sweater that matches my eyes and a pair of dark blue skinny jeans. I put on mascara and walk back downstairs.
"Oh, Suzanna, would you mind dropping this off in the mailbox before you leave?" My dad asks, struggling with his tie.
"Here, let me, sweetheart," my mom sighs, taking it from him and tying it correctly.
"Yeah, sure," I say take it from him. "What is it?" I ask looking over the yellow envelope.
"It's the deed to the abandoned house over on Willow. They're trying to flip it."
"Didn't someone die there?" I ask. My parents look at each other.
"Uh, yeah..." Dad says avoiding eye contact.
"You guys are going to be late if you don't get a move on," mom chimes in, ushering us out of the house. "Drive safe honey, love you," she says pecking my dad on the cheek. "Be safe Suzanna." I wave to her after I put the envelope in the mailbox at the end of the long driveway. As I turn the corner I get the feeling someone is watching me. I look behind me and scan the entire area. I bite my lip and continue walking. Someone grabs my shoulder and turns me around causing me to scream.
"Shit! Julie! Stop hitting me!" I open my eyes and stop hitting the person with my textbooks.
"Mimi! You scared the life out of me!" She laughs.
"I swear I didn't mean too. Okay well maybe just a little, but it's Halloween and everyone is entitled to one good scare," she says, still smiling. I huff and walk faster.
"Oh Julie, I'm sorry okay."
