Chapter Five: Angels:
-Las Vegas, Nevada-
The man in the black trench coat landed on the roof of a casino. He gritted his teeth for another day of failure. His ears perked up when he heard laughter. His blood began to burn.
“What do you want Nikki?” he asked. He turned to see a woman with long blonde hair dressed in black joining him.
“How is the hunt going?” she asked. The man glared at her. Nikki pouted a him like a hurt little puppy.
“Come on,” she said.
“Are you here to mock me?”
The man turned his head. “Then… why are you here?” Nikki walked up next to him.
“I’m here to help you,” she said.
“And why would you do that?”
Nikki gave him a catlike smile. “Because. I got sick of watching you fail.” The man gritted his teeth.
“Go away,” he hissed.
“You sure?” Nikki asked. “You look like you could use some help.” Her voice made him want to strangle her. Did she always have to be so condescending to him? But he still had to work with her.
“Whatever,” he muttered. Las Vegas looked so pretty from above. Millions of lights on the ground. Could they hide the man that he killed earlier? He doubted it.
“Fine,” the man said. “What do you know?” Nikki looked so angelic with her sickening smile.
“I’ll give you a clue,” she said. The man’s face went flat.
“Are you serious?” he asked.
“Do you want it or not?” Nikki asked. Her partner rolled his eyes.
“Fine,” he said again. “What is it?” The woman broke into a little smile.
“The antichrist was born in this hospital,” she said. Nikki handed him a piece of folded up paper. The man took it and opened it.
“The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu?” he asked. He turned to Nikki with a confused look on his face.
“Why are you giving me this?” he asked.
“The Antichrist was born there,” she said. “And there’s more. Keep reading.” The man looked further down on the page.
“1999 to 2008?” he asked. The man turned back to Nikki.
“What does that mean?” he asked.
“The years that the Antichrist might be born,” she said.
“That’s the best we’ve rounded it to. Take it or leave it.”
The man dropped his shoulders. “And what am I supposed to do with this?”
“What do you think?” Nikki leaned in with a catlike smile. “We have to go to Honolulu and start looking.”
“We?” the man asked.
“Yes,” she said. “Orders from the boss.” He narrowed his eyes behind his dark shades.
“Are you serious?” he asked. Nikki put up her hands.
“Hey, I am just following the boss’ orders here,” she said. The man rolled his eyes.
“Fine, what’s the plan?” he asked. His partner grinned.
“What else?” she asked. “Go to this hospital, look through the records, and start hunting from there.” The man blinked at her.
“That’s it?” he asked.
“But you don’t have to kill anyone before you find out if they are the Antichrist or not,” she said. The man glared at her.
“Shut up,” he muttered. Nikki ignored him.
“What are we standing around here for?” she asked. “We have to get going!” Nikki leapt up and vanished into thin air. The man muttered to himself as he rolled his eyes. What choice did he have?
The man spread his wings, jumped up into the sky, and vanished into thin air as well.
