When will people learn that curiosity doesn't always kill the cat? Instead, curiosity affects us in different ways. Positive and negative. In this case, Bella Quince was affected negatively, but Smiley was affected positively. How? you must be wondering, well that is for me to know and for you to find out.

Chapter 1: Bella

“Bell, you’re going to be late if you don’t hurry!” My friend, Kenna shouts from our bathroom. Kenna and I are both roommates and we both go to the University of Arizona, but we have different classes. Kenna is one year younger than me. I’m 23 and she’s 22. Kenna is a pretty average girl, dirty blond hair, light brown eyes, and Hispanic.

“I’m almost ready,” I growl as I try to get dressed. I love to study history. I’ve always dreamed of becoming a historian. From the second I learned about the “British Tea Party,” to now. I know for a fact that my dream will come true.

Three hours later.

After the bell rang for my class to be over, it was our lunch-hour. Now with Kenna being at her baking class which is always on a Friday, we couldn’t have lunch together. I sat at a table alone in Subway. Subway is my favorite restaurant. I love their sandwiches: turkey, ham, pepper jack cheese… I love it all.

I got back to class later that evening. I sit next to a quiet guy. I sat next to him trying to do my work, but I could feel him watching me. I lifted my head up to look at him back. It was funny for a good few seconds because he quickly turned his head away.

I have a huge problem concentrating when other people talk because I have to listen to what they’re saying. Even if it’s something boring. Two guys are having a strange conversation next to me, at first it was annoying, but then I became curious.

“Dude I can’t believe that.” guy number one says.

“Yeah, crazy isn’t it?” guy number two said.

“Do you think it was real? I mean it looked real, but could it be?” guy number one was full of fear all over his face, but what were they talking about? I wonder to myself. I lean in closer so I can hear better.

“I don’t think we should go on there again is all I can say.” guy number two stated. Go on where? I’m so curious. I have to ask them what they were talking about.

“Guys?” I whispered, “Sorry for being so nosy, but you were talking a little too loud anyway, but what is it that you two happen to be talking about?” I narrowed my eyes so that they knew that I wasn’t really asking. They both looked at me in awe.

“Look… Bella, is it? I don’t think that you need to worry about anything, alright?” guy number one says. He gives me a warning look. I nod wanting to know anyway.

This time guy number two spoke, “Do you know what the Deep Web is?” I looked at him shocked, of course, I knew what that was.

“Yeah, It’s a deeper website you know where people buy drugs, weapons, and other stuff. ” I smiled uneasily. I’ve heard many things about the dark web. How it sells credit card numbers, illegal drugs, and weapons. I know exactly what the dark web is.

“Well,” guy number one started, “Last night me and Ricky here were looking on it. We are into strange things, not gonna say what of course-” I cut him off.

“Were you buying drugs?” I glared at them. They both looked at me wide eyes then laughed.

“Um... not even close. We found a video. There was a girl tied up in a chair and it looked like she was crying,” he sighs, “we clicked on it.” guy number one paused, and I saw the worry in his eyes.

“What happened?”

“Look,” guy number two croaked, “we don’t want to frighten you, so we’re just gonna leave it at that.” He fake smiled then they both turned back in their seats. I stared at their backs for a good ten seconds. I was so curious and wanted to know more. One of my thoughts was asking them more, but I knew they wouldn’t tell me any more. So, now I realize I want to go on it and find out myself. I had to know how to get onto the dark web. I had to. I turned back to face the guy next to me.

“What’s your name?” I smiled dumbly at him. He looked at me confused at first then answered.

“Sam.” He smiled lightly.

“Well, Sam I have a question for you.” I breathed in a sigh knowing that there is no going back. Even though there is.

“I might have an answer.” He tilted his head.

“Do you know how to get onto the Dark Web?” I say way too fast but smile brightly.

“Why are you smiling like that?” He looked at me in disgust. Then he frowns to himself... or to me. I looked at him confused.

“Well do you know?”

He rolled his eyes then spoke, “Yes I know how, don’t ask how I know, but…” his voice goes away.

“Just tell me, I won’t do anything dumb.” I cross my eyes.

“You could get killed, or hacked, or tortured, Are you sure?” he winks. No, Bella Quince, you are not sure!

“Yes! I’m really curious.” Could I really get killed? His frown deepens.

“Fine…” he finally gives in, “First you…”
