Chapter 1

Aylah pulled her cardigan closer around her self. The biting cold combined with the devilish night was not a good combination. Aylah couldn't stand anything remotely scary, so due to the fact that she was alone on a dark night, she was ready to break down. Aylah thought she heard footsteps behind her. She turned around quickly, but saw no one. She took a deep, rattling breath and started walking again. Aylah hardly remembered why she was here in the first place. Her best guess was she was on a walk too long. Suddenly, Aylah felt a hand on her shoulder. She froze. The hand was cold and clammy and seemed to reek of dead flesh. Heavy wheezes came from behind her. Aylah broke into a run. "Wait!" Called a very human voice. Aylah stopped and risked a look back. She saw, with relief, that it was simply an old man. "I just need to know where the store is." Said the man. Aylah smiled and told him. After the man had left, Aylah realized that she could have gone with him to get back to her house. She face palmed. "Idiot."
