The Forest

10:49 a.m.

I shoot up in by bed, freaked out a little by the dream I had. I was running through the forest, being chased by a demon, as if I actually thought it'd be there waiting for me. Shaken, I crawl out of bed, get dressed, and get some breakfast. Rick's already getting things ready for tonight, he went and got his sister's camera. Flashlights and a stopwatch were bought and he searched for a book bag. I look at the time, wondering how he's done all this already, and to my surprise, I slept until nearly eleven o clock. Oh well I guess, it’s a Saturday, so I shouldn't worry. There was something about that dream that unnerved me though. I couldn’t quite place my finger on it.

12:03 p.m.

Rick is finally done rifling through the room for supplies, and sits down for lunch. "We’re ready" he says. I get sort of excited, but I don't know why, it's just a forest, right? Nothing really happens the rest of the day thankfully.

10:30 p.m.

We decide its dark enough to go out there. It’s never said in any explanation whether it needs to be dark outside or not, but we thought it'd be a little more interesting. In the car we decide that I'll go into the forest while Rick waits outside for me. We get to the forest. And it begins.

10:37 p.m.

I slowly walk towards Demon's Bane Forest. I realize I’m terrified of what's in there. The stories of this place are so bizarre that I shouldn't be afraid, but I am nonetheless. That story about the forest. Remembering that story makes me regret the bet more than anything, I'm nearly pissing myself just at the sight of the forest. It's not as if anything is in there, right?

10:44 p.m.

I finally start in after a few jibes from my friend, no longer terrified more than angry. And so the hour starts. Not much happens at first, I look at my watch just to make sure the time, set my clock for the hour, and get ready. I find a nice tree, and sit at the base.

10:45 p.m.

Something bolts by. A shadow. Probably just a wolf, maybe a deer. It could really be any animal, this forest is pretty dense with animal life. This thought comforts me a little, even as the hair on the back of my neck stands straight up. I just lean back on the tree again, trying to stay cool.

11:01 p.m.

I almost dozed off, my head hit the tree and I woke up right away. I think I saw a pair of eyes looking at me from the bushes, but I just pass it off as my tiredness or a daze from hitting my head. When I rub my eyes and look back to make sure, they're gone. I just ignore it. But I can't pass this feeling off. Something's watching me.

11:07 p.m.

I decided to climb the tree, just to be sure. It took a bit since it's so dark.

11:36 p.m.

Time's almost up. I look at my watch and the timer is nearing the hour. I get a little excited, until I remember that story again. I'm not out of the thick yet. I stay focused on my surroundings and staying awake.

11:45 p.m.

Holy shit! I fell asleep! I quickly look at my watch and the timer is flashing 00:00. My time is done. Thank god. I climb down the tree and look around to find my way out. Everything looks warped, tinted a strange magenta color. I’m obviously dreaming. Dammit, I was so excited to get out of here. I see a lighted area, hoping it's my ticket to waking up I walk towards it.

11:45 p.m.

I've been walking for a while. I look at my watch and the time hasn't changed. Odd. Maybe it's broken. Then I realize I’m dreaming. Oh well, I just keep walking.

11:45 p.m.

I'm almost at the light and I see a figure, but it's much too tall to be my friend. Although, this dream is pretty trippy anyway so I just keep at it.

11:45 p.m.

I finally get to the light and I see the figure's back turned towards me, so I get closer and tap on its shoulder. It sort of turns it's head, grinning widely at me. It’s eye is black with a stark white dot directed at me. His teeth are an off yellow color, jagged and gnarled. His mouth opens and what comes out terrifies me to the core.
