Chapter 1

"You must be wondering why I've called you here today," he said seriously.

The four in front of him looked at each other nervously. This was it! The moment they would finally know why they have been called here; when they would be told why a collection of four ordinary people, who seemed to have no special abilities, powers or talents, had been called to a secret government building, by the newly appointed head of division himself. Understandably excited, they waited with bated breath for him to reveal his reasons.

Suddenly, the boy grinned at the group and stepped over to the door. "I really wanted someone to watch me unlock the doors for the first time!"

Tina Hacker: Lindsey Martin=Bowen blends humor with satiric takes on modern life. Her characters are introduced seamlessly and tell the reader their stories--if we can read them between laughs!
