Five reasons why being a journalist sucks

Chapter 1

I’m Christy turner and I’m going to list five reasons why being a journalist sucks.

Reason one: You have to get up 5am where I work

On my first day back to work things did not go smoothly like they should do.

First of all I slept through my useless alarm clock and was three hours late, not exactly how a person would like to begin their day. I mean unless they really hate their job. Which I do actually. Hm guess my day started better than I thought. Well anyway the rest of my morning consisted of me constantly going fuck, fuck, fuck, wondering why my period had to treat me like a bitch today and accidently swapping my toothpaste for a chocolate chip cookie in my rush before I finally bundled into a taxi half dressed. The driver seemed to enjoy that one.

Reason two: Whatever you do you get shouted at

‘’CHRISTY TURNER WHY ARE YOU THREE HOURS LATE AND WHY IS THERE COOKIE AROUND YOUR MOUTH, DO YOU NOT CARE FOR HYGIENE?’’

I sidled past my boss Mr. Johnson and sat down, wiping the crumbs away from my mouth. ‘’Bitch’’ I mumbled, looking at the one crumb on my palm. ‘’STEVEN SMITH WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT?’’ I look up to see Steven scratching the back of his neck awkwardly; he’d been staring at me pityingly.  I couldn’t help smile though I was still swearing at the son of a bitch Mr. Johnson under my breath which caused Emma to start giggling before boss screamed his head off at us again. Starting to see why I hate my job so much?

Reason three: Everybody needs to know everything about your personal life

It was lunch before everybody started bugging me.

‘’So why are you so later?’’ said Tom as soon as I sat down. ‘’Stuff’’ I mumbled. Tom nodded and looked at his cup of coffee. He opened his mouth and then shut it like a baby bird. ‘’What is it?’’ I said. ‘’Why does it look like stuffed toilet down your pants?’’ Tom asked. ‘’Because blood is coming out of my crotch. Happy now?’’ I snapped. Tom nodded quickly and scuttled off. Everybody couldn’t help bursting out laughing.

Reason four: If you’re a girl you’re always getting hit on by men (or possibly women)

10:32 Jeremy hits on me

11:12 Bob hits on me

01:47 Mark hits on me

02:06 Sal

02:23 James

03:25 Bob again

And reason five: It isn’t that bad at times

I know what you’re thinking. Christy isn’t this supposed to be why your job sucks? Well shut up and let me explain. My job sucks like I make it sound like. But even this has some good moments.

It’s quite a fun challenge to get up at 5a.m in the morning

Sometimes the things I get shouted at for are quiet funny

Sometimes there are things you want to spill out to other people

It’s a good feeling to be hit on by so many men (and women)

So all of my other reasons make up my final reason why things don’t suck, which means I’ve just wasted all my time telling you bitches this as I don’t really have 5 reasons why being a journalist sucks.

You happy now mother fuckers?

christylynnr5: This book was absolutely amazing. It had romance, comedy, and mystery. Sid is a girl that pretends to be a boy and goes to an all boys school. Of course there is going to be romance. There's comedy in the story because Sid's character is carefree and has no filter making her bluntness and sarcasm...

yogashri asyosa: i liked the way the story revolves. it was interesting with Sara and Allie. i would have thought bring Max in the POV of Sara could have been elaborate so the drama could have been even thickyes there is few grammar errors but i was able to make it up !! Had a good time reading !!

Roxie: This was a very well thought out story and I greatly enjoyed it! I don't usually go for these kinds of stories because of clichés and what not, nut this was great. Kim Walker: The characters in this book was very well developed. It is very evident that the writer put q lot of thought and effort into his work. I thoroughly enjoyed it! The way he described the scenes, the plot, the setting is absolutely remarkable. Two thumbs up!

Destiny Lee: This is amazing. It's totally realistic - cool girls have flaws, too, okay?? Totally awkward girl picks up her mom's old bass from her garage, messes around, and realizes, hey, maybe I can move on after all. She has moments where everything's hopeless for her, after all, an alcoholic dad and a fl...

Jasmine Chow: As I read this story, I was reminded some what of Terry Pratchett, especially some descriptions of politics and economics. The sci-fic setting is quite intriguing. Writing style is quite lovely and grew on me slowly. I was also slightly reminded of Mark Twain, especially his book A Connecticut Ya...

mcase: I really enjoyed this story. Felt drawn to Cami as a genuine person. Great characters with funny honest perspective. Many subplots made this continually interesting. I was never bored and thought the overall plot was intriguing. I do wish that some elements had been excluded, such as some extrane...

Ben Gauger: Kudos to Dhira Vidhea, author of Boy Who Broke In My Window, an otherwise engaging tale of love and acceptance of the quirkiest of individuals, whose overall conception of the plot is spot-on and whose writing style is impeccable and as for her writing skills they are the best I've ever seen, tho...

ianwatson: The comedy is original and genuinely funny, I have laughed out loud many times reading this book. But the story and the plot are also really engaging. JulieJeanette: I'm only on chapter nine, but so far I am loving this story!. I am on pins and needles hoping that they find good men in their lives by the end. I am American and so the British tone and lingo ('knickers,' 'sod it' ) of the book is very appealing. I had to find out how much '12 stone' was by goog...
