Five reasons why being a journalist sucks

Chapter 1

I’m Christy turner and I’m going to list five reasons why being a journalist sucks.

Reason one: You have to get up 5am where I work

On my first day back to work things did not go smoothly like they should do.

First of all I slept through my useless alarm clock and was three hours late, not exactly how a person would like to begin their day. I mean unless they really hate their job. Which I do actually. Hm guess my day started better than I thought. Well anyway the rest of my morning consisted of me constantly going fuck, fuck, fuck, wondering why my period had to treat me like a bitch today and accidently swapping my toothpaste for a chocolate chip cookie in my rush before I finally bundled into a taxi half dressed. The driver seemed to enjoy that one.

Reason two: Whatever you do you get shouted at

I sidled past my boss Mr. Johnson and sat down, wiping the crumbs away from my mouth. ‘’Bitch’’ I mumbled, looking at the one crumb on my palm. ‘’STEVEN SMITH WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT?’’ I look up to see Steven scratching the back of his neck awkwardly; he’d been staring at me pityingly. I couldn’t help smile though I was still swearing at the son of a bitch Mr. Johnson under my breath which caused Emma to start giggling before boss screamed his head off at us again. Starting to see why I hate my job so much?

Reason three: Everybody needs to know everything about your personal life

It was lunch before everybody started bugging me.

‘’So why are you so later?’’ said Tom as soon as I sat down. ‘’Stuff’’ I mumbled. Tom nodded and looked at his cup of coffee. He opened his mouth and then shut it like a baby bird. ‘’What is it?’’ I said. ‘’Why does it look like stuffed toilet down your pants?’’ Tom asked. ‘’Because blood is coming out of my crotch. Happy now?’’ I snapped. Tom nodded quickly and scuttled off. Everybody couldn’t help bursting out laughing.

Reason four: If you’re a girl you’re always getting hit on by men (or possibly women)

10:32 Jeremy hits on me

11:12 Bob hits on me

01:47 Mark hits on me

02:06 Sal

02:23 James

03:25 Bob again

And reason five: It isn’t that bad at times

I know what you’re thinking. Christy isn’t this supposed to be why your job sucks? Well shut up and let me explain. My job sucks like I make it sound like. But even this has some good moments.

It’s quite a fun challenge to get up at 5a.m in the morning

Sometimes the things I get shouted at for are quiet funny

Sometimes there are things you want to spill out to other people

It’s a good feeling to be hit on by so many men (and women)

So all of my other reasons make up my final reason why things don’t suck, which means I’ve just wasted all my time telling you bitches this as I don’t really have 5 reasons why being a journalist sucks.

You happy now mother fuckers?

Mark Morris: Just back from a week in Dublin and finished this story in 2 days - very entertaining and an easy, fun read. The plot keeps moving and the various scenarios - divorce, ex husband, job, lovers maintains interest.Hope to read part 2 soon as possible, back in Australia.Well done aiofe 👍

Jasmine Chow: As I read this story, I was reminded some what of Terry Pratchett, especially some descriptions of politics and economics. The sci-fic setting is quite intriguing. Writing style is quite lovely and grew on me slowly. I was also slightly reminded of Mark Twain, especially his book A Connecticut Ya...

vailak: soo beautiful...loved their friendship..

Gina_Bel: Amazing book, with plot twists and love in it's most pure form ❤️ congrats to the author

Saffron Bloom : I've got to say this story is on my top 5 reading list. It's amazingly funny and the characters are given such personality! I love it and not just for a 'Goode' - wink wink - read but also because it helped me through some rough times with my family as well and it finally pushed me to do the thin...

Cristi C: Love the idea behind the story. I had a lot of fun reading it. Quite a bit of editing needed but overall it was a good short read. I believe the author could expand certain areas to make it mesh better. I will say Bobbie is the best character and in a way the parents too.

tinaasante871: the story of the two best friends are soo sad but it didn't end well at all.... I hope there will be a continuation... I will be patiently waiting for how Faith and Lucy will stay together and be accepted by both their families...

latashashetters: I absolutely love this. Really page turner! But it definitely needs work, there's a lot of misspelled words and along with name mix ups when 2 people are conversing in the story. Other then that I love it and wish it was longer!

Ben Gauger: Kudos to Dhira Vidhea, author of Boy Who Broke In My Window, an otherwise engaging tale of love and acceptance of the quirkiest of individuals, whose overall conception of the plot is spot-on and whose writing style is impeccable and as for her writing skills they are the best I've ever seen, tho...
