The day I follow my next path

So after everything that happened in the few days or weeks. Everything has been going well. Remember Mike the cab driver?

Yeah, so like the guy has a bar where people come to dance and sing. He called me the other day to come with my friends in order to grow his business. You know since I’m the daughter of a Navy general.

I’m not bragging about but I do love the daughter of a general. Back in Nigeria, Kane and I used to see a lot of famous people in our country or when famous people from around the world come to visit our country.

We met Wole Soyinka at his 86 year old birthday. We went to Dangote’s daughter’s wedding when he invited Bill Gates himself. We even took a picture with Buddy from Cake Boss when he came to visit our country too. But most of these occasions only happened when my dad was asked to guard personally. However, it was still worth it.

It was evening already and since we were preparing for prom. I thought we could a little.

So we were already on our way to his bar. I wore a sleeveless jeans gown with brown sandals and I had a small purse with me. I fixed my hair to be curly. Dave on the other hand, wore a grey shirt with brown jeans and a black jacket with a red vans. Eric decided to go with a white shirt that had a checked red shirt and a black vans. He also had a black head warmer on his head, for only God knows what for cause it wasn’t really cold. Well Shekah wore an off shoulder brown dress with black flats.

The name was Biggs bar and karaoke. It was really neat from the outside. The red brick wall were outstanding and the sign was quite adorable. It was decorated with the lights you would see in an expensive club.

″Are you sure this guy is really a cab driver Jay?″ asked Eric with a questioning look.

″If I tell you I knew, I would be lying right now.″ I said, trying to understand whether this so called cab driver that drove to practice the last time was actually a rich guy who disguised himself to get customers.

″Doesn’t look like his a cab driver. . . right?″ Dave said, trying to agree with Eric also.

″Just anyway. We came here to have fun and grow his business. . . even if it doesn’t look like it needs to be grown.″spoke Shekah, trying to stop the guys from talking.

We all then laughed until we were interrupted by a guy. He was dressed in a tuxedo with designer shoes. I then recognized him and shouted

″Mike! is that you or I’m blind?

″It’s me alright. The one and only.″ We came towards each other and hugged.

″It’s good seeing you again man. So theses are my friends. Eric and Shekah.″ I said as I pointed to the them.

″And this is my boyfriend, Dave.″ I said, but with a blush on my face. Dave winked at me and I blushed even harder.

″Oh! this was the guy you were thinking about the other day. He looks like a keeper.″ spoke Mike while giving a wink to me. I slapped his shoulder playfully and he took us into his bar.

The inside was quite gorgeous. The tables looked so fancy and the bartenders were performing quite cool skills. Different ways of making drinks, mixing and people drinking. The karaoke sounded great.

Eric went immediately to try the karaoke. The rest of us sat in a VIP section Mike kept specially for us. How sweet.

The song that Eric picked was Ritmo by Black-eyed peas and J Balvin . As the song started playing and the beats began. I was tapping my feet on floor. I was really in the mood of dancing but I just didn’t know.

Dave held my thigh and asked whether we could dance together. I was still contemplating but he finally convinced me. We both began as soon as he got to the. . .

As we were dancing, I felt so free. I felt that nothing could stop me. Dave kept on encouraging me and I just loved it.

The rhythm, the rebel, styles upon styles upon styles, I got several
Born to be wild ’cause I live like a daredevil

The rhythm, the rebel
New and improved, I be on a new level (oh yeah)
That’s how we do it, we buildin’ like LEGO (oh yeah)
Feel on the fire, you dealin’ with fuego
Can’t stop, I am addicted I never quit
Won’t stop, don’t need to speak to no therapist
No stop, keepin’ it movin’ is the narrative
Nonstop, do it like woo, there it is

This is the rhythm, rhythm, rhythm, rhythm, rhythm of the night

This was truly the rhythm of the night. My night. Other people gathered and were admiring the way we dancing. Shekah even videoed us and other just kept on hyping us.

You like that space?

As soon as it ended, they all clapped for us and Eric of course cause he voice really went with the melody of the song. Mike came to us and thanked us.

We were confused at first but when we all turned. The bar became full of a lot people.

Some asked,''Could you dance again? or ''Hey man, could you sing another song again? or ''Where did you learn how to dance like that?''

We all looked at each other and smiled. We all went to meet the people and thank them. As I finished taking a picture with someone, Shekah asked me a question, ''Jay? ''Yeah! I responded.

''Do you still want to be basketball player or professional dancer?''

That's when it hit me.

''I think I'll go to into dancing'' I said with a smile.

Once Dave heard me, he carried me up immediately and kissed me. Once it broke, he spoke saying, ''I knew you would come through.''

I smiled back at him and kissed him again. I stopped and said,

''Me too.''
