Sheva bolted up from the couch and opened the door and looked disappointed. It was just Clyde and Nia. She sighed and moved aside to let them in then shut the door behind them. She went back to the couch and took a seat once again.
Clyde went upstairs to greet Nadia and left Nia with Sheva. Nia and Sheva stared at each other then Nia went to the corner of the living room where her toys were located and grabbed two dolls. She ran over to Sheva and handed her a doll and said "Play."
"Nia, not right now. Someone important is coming over but I will play with you later. I promise." Once she said that she regretted it. Nia's eyes started to water and her bottom lip poked out.
"Don't make me get mom." Sheva warned. Nia continued to whine until she was fully crying.
"Mom!" Sheva yelled as she came to the bottom of the stairs. Just then the doorbell rang once again.
"Nia please be quiet, I will play with you after Chris leaves. I promise!" Sheva begged her little sister. Nia just continued to cry. Sheva let out an irritated groan and went to answer the door.
She opened the door to see Chris standing there with a smile on his face, but it quickly faded when he saw Nia throwing a fit.
"What's wrong with her?" Chris asked as Sheva stepped aside to let him in.
"Oh, she's just grumpy." Sheva said simply as she closed the door. She walked over to Nia and picked her up even though Nia protested.
"I'll go put her down for a nap. Be right back, you can just take a seat on the couch." She told him as she ran upstairs and brought Nia to her room. She gently placed her in her crib and tucked her in, besides her nap was long overdue. Sheva remembered her mom would always sing her a lullaby when she was about to go to sleep, so she thought she could try it on Nia. She sung the first lullaby that came to her head.
"Hush, little baby, don't say a word. Momma's gonna buy you a mockingbird. And if that mockingbird won't sing, Momma's gonna buy you a diamond ring…" Sheva began to sing and Nia began to calm down. Sheva continued, "And if that diamond ring turns brass, Momma's gonna buy you a looking glass…"
Sheva sung about 2 more verses of the song and Nia was asleep. Sheva leaned over her crib and gave her a quick kiss on her forehead. Sheva turned around and faced the door and gasped in shock when she saw her mother, Clyde and Chris all standing there with big grins on their faces.
"How long have you been there?" Sheva asked, as she put her hand over her heart, catching her breath.
"The whole time…" Nadia told her.
"Mom! You know I don't like singing in front of people…" Sheva told her as she covered her face in embarrassment.
"I don't know why. You are a great singer, sweetie!" Nadia told Sheva as pulled her into a hug.
"You have to tell me that. You're my mom." Sheva told her as they all walked out of Nia's room and downstairs back into the living room.
"Well I agree with your mom. And I'm your boyfriend so I don't have to tell you that." Chris told her. She just laughed and gave him a small shove.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Boyfriend?! When did this happen?" Clyde asked as he stepped in between them.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you I have a boyfriend. Here he is! We kissed in the hospital." Sheva told him as she pulled Chris to her side. Clyde just raised his eyebrow at the two of them and was about to say something but Nadia cut him off.
"Sheva, did you even tell your dad about this?" Nadia questioned and guessed the answer was no when she saw her daughters face.
"I haven't gotten the chance to…" Sheva made an excuse.
"You always have a chance to talk to him," Nadia told Sheva then continued. "But don't worry about it now. Enjoy your company. Oh and one more thing. If you guys are going up to Sheva's room, the door STAYS OPEN and you tell us before you guys do go up to her room. Understood?" Nadia asked them. They both said yes then Clyde and Nadia left.
"So…" Chris said.
"So…" Sheva repeated. They both looked at each other for a second then laughed.
"Ok so anyway, about Jill." Sheva said after they were done laughing.
"I didn't want to really talk about Jill. I just wanted to see how you were. My mom wouldn't let me go unless it was something serious so I told her we would talk about Jill and how she's affecting our relationship. Apparently she thought that was serious enough so she let me come over." Chris paused then continued. "I mean, we can talk about Jill if you want to." Chris suggested.
"No, I'm good…" Sheva said as she rested her head on the back of the couch they sat on.
Chris chuckled at her response and grabbed her hand then rested his head next to hers. Sheva smiled as she turned her head to face Chris and ended up making their noses touch. They looked in each other's eyes, both thinking the same thing. Chris did what they were both thinking and pulled Sheva's hand to the side of him so she was laying directly beside him, partially on top of him and gave her a kiss.
Chris reluctantly broke the kiss and asked "Do you want to go for a walk or something?"
"I have to ask my mom. One sec." Sheva said as she got up from the warmth of Chris' arms and went to the bottom of the stairs.
"MOM! CAN CHRIS AND I GO FOR A WALK AROUND THE NEIBHORHOOD!?" Sheva yelled, forgetting Nia was sleeping. But soon remembering when she heard Nia calling for her mom.
Moments later Nadia came downstairs with Nia in her hands.
"You know what? You can go but uh oh, a twist. You're taking Nia with you." Nadia told Sheva as she handed Nia to her. Nia clapped her hands and said "Yay!" when she heard the words going for a walk and her name.
"No, not yay. Chris and I want to spend personal time as a couple." Sheva said as she put Nia down and watched her run into the living room and climb on the couch with Chris who just stood her up on his lap and played with her.
"You know, I wouldn't mind having her walk with us. She's adorable!" Chris said from the living room. Sheva just sighed and said "Fine let's go." Sheva said as she opened the front door.
"What about her stroller?" Chris asked as he picked Nia up and followed his girlfriend out the door.
"When we go for a walk with her, she walks. We don't even bring her stroller with us anymore. Mom, we'll be back at 6!" Sheva said as she closed the door and they began to walk.
They walked about halfway around the neighborhood when Nia got tired so Chris picked her up and put her on his shoulders.
"You're such a family guy, Chris." Sheva told him as she grabbed his hand.
"Yeah, I love kids. I bet you do too." Chris said as he squeezed her hand.
"Yeah I actually do, I've always dreamed of being in a big white house with children running around and a husband coming home everyday to eat dinner with his family. Maybe even have a pet." She told him her future plans.
"How many children in exact?"
"Um, maybe 3 or 4?"
"That's a lot of children, but I will see what I can do." Chris said and waited to see what she would say.
"Do you really think we would be together that long?"
Chris took Nia off his shoulders and turned to face Sheva.
"Of course I do… Sheva, I… I love you." He told her and before she could say anything he pressed his lips to hers. They had the longest kiss they have ever shared. She could tell he meant what he said about loving her, and when he kissed her, he kissed her with more passion then all the other times. That's when she realized, she loved him to.
They pulled away from each other to catch their breath.
"Chris?" Sheva called to him once she caught her breath.
"I love you too."
