Chapter 35

Sheva sat in class with her head propped up in her hand as she listened to the crackly voice on the announcements after the pledge.

"Good morning Jefferson High! I hope you guys had an amazing weekend and are ready to start filling your brains with knowledge!" Sheva rolled her eyes at the fake excitement in the announcer's voice and the groans of her classmates.

"Ah, what am I saying I know you are! Anyway… lunch today is spaghetti with a roll side of peas…"

Sheva put her head on the desk growing bored of the announcements with the hope of drowning out the voice.

"… and there is going to be a Black and White formal dance next Sunday evening and as we do every year it's girls ask guys!" Sheva quickly lifted her head up and turned to look back at Chris who was looking back at her. Chris wiggled his eyebrows at her and licked his lips. Sheva silently laughed at him and shot him a wink and blew him a kiss before she turned to face front being sure to flip her hair cutely.

"Can you turn the heat off Mrs. Jefferson? It's getting hot back here." Chris asked as he grabbed his notebook off his desk and used it as a fan. Sheva looked back at him in disbelief and he just smiled at her and winked.

"Chris you know better than to talk during announcements and don't think that I don't know what you mean by 'It's getting hot back here'." Mrs. Jefferson responded with crossed arms.

"I was just being honest…" Chris said under his breath that luckily went unnoticed by the teacher, who had turned her attention back to the speaker. The announcements finished and class began.

Classes went by quickly and the group met up at their table.

"So are you guys excited about the dance? Jake and I are, aren't we Jakie-Poo?" Sherry asked as she squeezed Jake's cheek.

"Sure… I'm just really excited for the fights that happen every year." Jake admitted with a chuckle.

"That not very nice… dances are place for romance not fights." Sheva told him as she tore off a piece of Chris' roll.

"Yeah Jake…" Chris said as he took Sheva fork and scooped up some of her peas and ate them. The group watched as Chris grin turn into a face of disgust as he gagged on the peas. They laughed as Chris spit the peas out in a napkin.

"Anyway… guess who I'm gonna ask guys?" Helena blurted out.

"Who? Who? Who?! Tell me!" Sherry asked as she playfully shook Helena.

"The new kid!" Helena said excitedly.

"Jason?" Jake asked.

"Keaton?" Sherry added in.

"Sheva?" Chris asked, acting serious. They all look at him with raised eyebrows for a second then turned back to Helena waiting for an answer.

"You guessed it, Sherry. I don't know when to ask him… I'm nervous…I mean he's a close friend and if he says no then things will be awkward…" Helena admitted.

"You better ask him soon. I heard Jill was gonna ask him…" Claire admitted.

"No! You know what? I'm gonna ask him now." Helena said bravely as she stood up and walked over to where Keaton, a tall, muscular, blond was sitting by himself. Helena sat by him and they started talking.

"Ok… it looks like things are going well… he's smiling." Leon observed. A minute later Helena came rushing back over with a smile on her face.

"So?" Sheva asked Helena even though she bet she knew the answer because the toothy smile on her face and the tint of pink to her cheeks.

"He said yes!" She screeched! The girls all screeched in excitement causing the guys to cover their ears and groan.

For the rest of lunch the girls all crowded Helena and talked about the dance while the guys talked about other random stuff.

The rest of the day went by as fast as it had before lunch and soon Sheva found herself in Chris car on the way to the pond for a nice walk before they went their separate ways.

As they walked, Sheva was talking about what they were gonna wear to the dance on Sunday.

"You still haven't even asked me, you know…" Chris told her when they were halfway around the pond.

"I didn't think I would have to ask you since you're my boyfriend…" Sheva admitted.

"I still want you to ask me though…" Chris told her as he squeezed her hand. Sheva playfully rolled her eyes and stood in front of Chris. She got on one knee and held his hand in both of hers.

"Christopher Redfield, I love you so much and you make me the happiest woman in the world. Will you add to the happiness and go the formal with me?" Sheva asked as she tilted her head to the side cutely.

"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Yes! Yes! Yes! I knew you were gonna do it! I can't wait to tell my friends. I think I'm gonna cry!" Chris dramatically in a high voice as he waved at his eyes, acting like he was gonna cry. Sheva laughed loudly at his reaction. While she was laughing, Chris picked her up bridal style and gave her a long affectionate kiss. "I love you too, babe." He told he in between kisses.

On the way back to the car, Chris lat Sheva ride on his back because she was getting tired and she eventually fell asleep on the way back to her house. They made it back to her house around 5 Chris dropped her off and went it to talk with her family for about 10 minutes before he had to leave. He gave her a kiss goodnight and told her he would be there in the morning.
