Chapter 13

It’s been a week. Jordan went back to Italy. Clarissa stayed because she knows that I still need help. She’s currently over at my house. Adrian and I have remained a secret and my ribs are starting to actually heal. Although I still have to go see Julie for check ups. Adrian has started training my men. His father used to fight. He taught Adrian before he left. He makes sure I’m okay and he says I can still do some things but Julie has been restricting me.

“Let’s cut and dye your hair.” I looked at Clarissa scared.

“Claire, not my hair. That’s the one thing I actually like about myself.” She rolled her eyes.

“It’s too long. Vera has managed to not let Damien say anything but that long of hair is gonna be your downfall in a fight. Besides I’m good at hair. I’m the only one allowed to touch it, remember?” I sighed. She grabbed her keys and left. I rolled my eyes and sat on the couch. I didn’t agree but she’s right. My hair is down to my ass.

My phone rang and I picked it up expecting it to be Adrian. I didn’t look at caller ID. “Hey babe I’m sorry for leaving early but Claire practically begged me for a girls day. Her reason is that I’m working way too much.” I expected to hear a chuckle or a laugh.

“Who’s babe?” I froze. Damien.

“It’s nothing. What do you need?” I went up to my room because the boys were in the kitchen.

“I want you to work on alliances. There’s a gang in Foxborough Connecticut. There’s also another one in New Hampshire. I want you to set up meetings with them. They come to you. You don’t go to them. I sent you their information. Don’t forget the task at hand. Boys aren’t an option. Especially if they don’t fit into the family. An Italian. I wanted you and Jordan to work out.”

“I’m dating an Italian. He’s sweet. Vera would approve. You might not but I like him. I have to go before the boys start looking for me. I love you Damien.”

“I love you too darling. Talk to your mom soon. She misses you.” I sighed. “Stay focused. Complete your assignments and stop breaking your ribs. I’m putting a lot of trust in you. Don’t let me down.”

“I won’t.” We said goodbye and I hung up. I was no longer in the mood for anything. I went downstairs and Claire brought me into the kitchen. She sat me down and started to work her magic. She cut it and then dyed it. She washed it out and then started to style it.

My phone rang as she was curling it. “Hey, just so you know you’re on speaker so Claire doesn’t burn me.” I was trying to give him a hint as to not talk too much about us being us.

“Good to know. I’m on my way. I’ll give you my reports from training. Speaking of which, Clarissa I need you to come to training. I’ll put you in Frenchie’s course for right now until I learn your strengths and weaknesses.” She sighed. I knew she missed Jordan but she has to understand why I did what I did.

“Okay. I’ll come in when Rissa’s in. I understand my brother is a complete douche but I do miss him. You took his place so it’s just been a bit difficult.”

“I didn’t mean to take his place. Marissa did what she had to do. He was only working against her and the guys need to train even more. She needed another trainer for them. I just happened to be around.” I liked that the two of them were talking. I wanted them to know each other.

“Ben where’s Brendon?” Ben looked at me and shrugged. “Seriously? Fine, can you go get my laptop from upstairs. I have to do a couple of things.” He nodded and headed upstairs. “I’ll see you when you get here.”

“Yeah, maybe just 5 more minutes.” he hung up and Ben gave me my laptop.

“Boys, can you clear out so I can make a couple important phone calls for the company?” I felt Claire give them a dirty look.

“Sure thing.” I smiled at Xander as he winked. I rolled my eyes. I looked at the info that Damien sent to me. My first phone call was to Kyler Matthews.

“Hello?” The voice was deep. He probably just woke up.

“Hi, I’m Marissa Bloom. I’m currently running the Italian Mafia in Maine. I need allies. Damien told me to contact you.” I could hear a female voice but I couldn’t make out what she was saying.

“Damien? Okay, where and when?” I was shocked that he didn’t want to know more.

“Sunday. Darcy’s Home and Fashion Design Co. 12:00.” There was a bit of rustling on the other end of the line.

“Okay. I’m going to be bringing 3 people with me. Oh and Miss Bloom, if this deal works out the way I hope, I look forward to working with you.” The front door opened.

“And I you. I’ll let you get back to what you were doing. I’ll see you Sunday Mr. Matthews.” I hung up and Claire held up her hand. I high fived her.

“Damn, you really cut all of that off.” That got me scared.

“Shut up don’t say that. She’s already terrified that I ruined it.” She put down the wand. “I’m done.”

“Great. Now can I steal her?” She sighed but nodded. I looked at the files in his hand. We went up to my room and he closed the door. “So I’ve been going through the files and they are doing a lot better than they were a month ago. I don’t know if it’s the change in training methods but everyone’s stats are up.” He paused for a moment. He pointed towards the door.

I stood up and opened the door. Ben, Liam, Jared, and Xander fell into my room. “I need to get work done. What we talk about is confidential meaning you guys can’t know about it so just let me do my job!” They all nodded, got up, and ran. “Claire make sure the boys stay downstairs! I need to get stuff done,” I called to her. She said she would. I closed the door and walked over to Adrian. “Hey Babe.”

He smiled at me and grabbed my hips. “How are your ribs?” I smiled and kissed him. He picked me up and placed me on my bed. He pulled away. “Are you gonna answer me or just distract me?”

“They’re okay. Still feel pain but not as bad. I missed you.” I kissed him again and pulled him towards me.

“I missed you too Anima Gemella.” I smiled as he deepened the kiss. I could stay this way with him forever.
