Chapter 16

“So how are you feeling,” Julie asked. She was checking my ribs.

“There’s slight pain but I’m good.” She nodded. I noticed that the bruising was starting to fade. I know it’s not much but it’s getting better.

“How’s my son?” I looked at her confused.

“He talks about you a lot. He’s worried. But he’s scared that you won’t come back in January. Scared about losing you. I didn’t say that.” I chuckled.

“He won’t lose me. Actually I wanted to talk to you before I talked to him. Is it okay if he comes with me? I haven’t asked him about it yet but I just don’t want to see my family alone. My brother’s aren’t coming with me. They don’t know any of them. I just...” I took a deep breath. “I’m an outcast. My grams didn’t like my mother. I’m not the only outcast but I want to know my family more. I just am too scared to do it alone.” She smiled at me.

“I think you both need some alone time. Take him. He’ll obviously say yes. Just take him. Maybe then my daughter can be a mother.” I frowned. I forgot about Zaye.

“My brothers would gladly help too. They love her. In fact every time she’s with me, they rush to see her. She got them to wear makeup and have a tea party. I think she’ll be in good hands.” Julie laughed.

“She’s a little charmer.” She continued to laugh. “She really got them to do that?” I nodded. She started laughing harder and I joined her. I remembered the sight. I need to spend more time with each of my brothers. I’m pulling away. I need to tell them the truth. But they’ll hate me. “Okay, yeah. Now ask my son even though he will most definitely say yes.” She finished wrapping the bandage. “Ribs are looking a lot better. Still be careful. Breaks do take awhile to heal. No fighting or training for another month. I’ll tell my son some new exercises that will help.”

“Thank you.” She smiled but her face turned serious.

“I don’t like my son being involved with the Mafia. But I trust you. I trust him. He won’t let anything happen to you. You won’t let anything happen to him.” I nodded. I told her what I did. At first she was upset but she understood my predicament. We also told her about our relationship. “You two are cute together. I am happy for both of you.” I smiled. “How’d the ceremony for the two guys go?”

“Smoothly. They were like brothers to me. Mike and Ike. Peyton and Ryan. We called them Mike and Ike because they loved that candy and they went 2 years without speaking.” She chuckled. It was nice talking about them. We finished up and left her room. Adrian was waiting for me in the living room. “She’s doing good. I’ll talk to you guys later.”

I sat next to Adrian. “Will you go to the reunion with me?” He looked at me with confusion until something clicked. A smile grew on his face as he leaned over and kissed me.

“Of course, but only if you go on a date with me.” I smiled.

“Of course, but only if you help me run the Mafia.” He nodded. “Good. I’m starting to realize that I can’t do everything on my own.” He kissed my forehead and grabbed my hand.

“Let’s get you home.” I smiled and nodded. We said bye to Julie and headed out.

“No. No. You are never going on a date. Ever. Especially not dressed like that.” I was wearing a pair of black high waisted shorts and a dark green cropped sweater.

“I’m covered enough. Xander you are going to have to get over it. I like him.” He groaned.

“Ben! I need your help. Actually, I need all of your guys’ help!” I rolled my eyes. I’ve been doing that a lot lately.

“You are being dramatic. I’m going on this date and you aren’t going to stop me.” Ben came into my room.

“We can try. There’s five of us and two of you.” I smirked.

“Chérie, you have no idea what I’m capable of.” I left my room and went downstairs. All of them followed me. A knock on the door made Jared answer it.

“I can’t help you guys.” Brendon came over and kissed the top of my head. “Have fun and be safe. I have my own date to go on. Clarissa is waiting for me so I have to go.” He was starting to walk out when he passed Adrian. “Good luck getting past the 4 of them. I’m late. I’m so very late.” I laughed and made my way over to Adrian.

“Hey babe.” He leaned down and kissed me. Someone pulled us apart. I looked and saw it was Liam.

“There will be no “babe”ing her.” I sighed.

“Let’s go before they lock me in my bedroom forever.” He nodded and we went to his car.

The drive took forever. I may or may not have fallen asleep. “Anima Gemella, time to wake up.” I groaned. “Baby time to get up.” I groaned again. “We’re here.” Once again I groaned. I heard him laugh. I heard a door open and shut. Then mine open and I felt like I was going to fall.

“Not cool.” He laughed again. He placed a kiss on my forehead. I unbuckled and got out of the car. We were at a cliff. The smell of the sea was strong. There was a blanket on the ground. “You’re cute.” He kissed my temple.

“Well you once said that the sea calmed you.” I smiled. He grabbed my hand and led me towards the blanket. “These past couple of weeks have been intense. So I thought that we could come here. My family owns a house nearby. We can stay there for the night.” We were sitting down now. I heard the waves crash against the cliffs. I sighed in content. This is where I need to be.
