Chapter 6

We got the place. It’s been a week. Due to my need of items in the warehouse, I’ve been able to hide my shipments from the police and my family. Clarissa is my lead fashion designer and Jordan is my trainer. I work in interior design. It’s my best section. I’m proud of the designs we come up with as a team.

Best of all Clarissa and Jordan are going to school today. They got in a couple days ago but I have yet to see them. “What’s got you so excited Frenchie?”

“Oggi vedro Clarissa e Jordan. (I get to see Clarissa and Jordan today.)” He smiled.

“That’s amazing Frenchie. So what’s got you so tense?” I looked at him and sighed. I can’t tell him the whole reason but I can tell him half.

“Non voglio deludere la mia famiglia con l’attività. (I don’t want to disappoint my family with the business.)” Now it was his turn to look at me and sigh.

“I don’t think you’ll disappoint them. I think you’ll amaze them.” I rolled my eyes and smiled. “Ready to go to class.” I slammed my locker door. “Ouch, take it easy on the lockers Lena.”

“I’m not a mean person.” He laughed.

“No you’ve just been speaking Italian to me since you found out I’m Italian.”

“I don’t like speaking English at school.” He smiled some.

“Is that why you and I have been speaking Italian this whole time even though people are looking at us like we’re crazy?” I laughed and nodded.

“I know that laugh! That’s my best friend!” I soon saw Clarissa racing towards me. “I missed you bitch. Never leave me alone with Jordan ever again.” I laughed as she pulled me into a hug.

“Hey Babygirl,” Jordan said coming up to me and kissing my cheek.

“Jordan how many times do I have to tell you that it’s never gonna happen. I don’t like you.” He rolled his eyes.

“You’ll want me eventually.”

“No I won’t.”

“Damien thinks that it would be a good match.”

“You’re Damien’s right hand man. Damien is like my father he wants the best for me but he also won’t let me make my own choices. He wants me to marry an Italian because that’s his background.”

“Look dude. Frenchie doesn’t speak English in school so if she is then she’s serious. She don’t like you.” Jordan and Adrian stared each other down.

“Stronzo. Stop.” Adrian chuckled. “Jordan, get to class. After school get to work. Clarissa, control your brother. Clarissa, I need your help to go through applicants and please get in contact with Vera. I want her new designs for the Winter Catalog. If she wants it done I’m gonna need the layouts and everything.” Clarissa nodded. “Thank you. I’ll call Damien soon. I need to get the target.”

Clarissa and I shared a grin. She took off with her brother leaving Adrian and I alone. “So who were you calling an asshole.” I laughed and started walking down the hall with him.

“Him. He can ruin a lot for me back home. With Damien mostly. One wrong move and everything blows up. I can lose a lot. Not just the company but my family.” We stopped outside the classroom door. “Non riesco a rovinare niente. (I can’t mess anything up.)”

“You won’t Stronzetta.” I rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out at him. He chuckled and was about to open the door when I stopped him.

“Just for calling me a bitch, you have to wait out here for a little bit.” He laughed but did as told.

“Ms. Bloom glad you could join us. Take your seat.” I rolled my eyes but sat in my usual spot. Clarissa and Jordan were in this class too. Just as the teacher started teaching the door slammed open. “Mr. Bennett where’s your pass?”

“Don’t got one. Don’t care to have one. I’ll just sit down now.” I managed to hide my laugh but not my smile. “I’ve done good with making you smile Frenchie.” He looked at Jordan and a smirk spread on his face. He leaned over and whispered, “Don’t tell anyone I know Italian. I wanna find out what Jordan says.” I laughed and nodded.

“Mr. Bennett, care to share with the class considering you’re disturbing a student that needs to focus on what I’m saying.” I rolled my eyes. Adrian didn’t care though. He just put his feet up on his desk and looked at her.

“I was just saying to Frenchie that respect is earned not given. You don’t deserve my- wait no. You don’t deserve any one of these student’s respect with the way you speak to us.” I glared at Adrian.

“Soyez gentil Adrian.” He looked at me and sighed.

“I don’t know what you just said but I’ll be quiet now.” I smirked and motioned for her to continue teaching. “What did you say?”

I whispered, “Be nice.” He chuckled and rolled his eyes. I saw Jordan glare at Adrian. Adrian glared back. All throughout the day the two of them have been having a staring match. By lunch I was sick of it. I could tell Clarissa was too. “Okay enough both of you. Jordan, take it out on a wall or punching bag. I’ll see you for training later. Adrian, I don’t understand any of this but you need to play nice. Both of you need to play nice. I’m sick of this. Clarissa is sick of this. Jack and Gavin are oblivious and poor Katie. Not to mention Owen knows there’s tension between the two of you.”

“I’m sorry Frenchie. I’ll behave.” I rolled my eyes but thanked him.

“I don’t like the way he looks at you. You’re my girl. No one else’s.” I rolled my eyes.

“I’m not yours. In fact I’m nobodies. I am focused on other things right now. I have to get everything up and running before I can even think about school. Then after is animals. I don’t care about relationships. I don’t care if I ever fall in love. I’m focused on work. Not you and not you.” I pointed to both of the boys. It felt weird pointing to Adrian. “Oh and Jordan, plan on taking me down and I won’t hesitate to do what Damien did to Thomas.” Jordan gulped.

Sometimes I can be heartless. But when it comes to threatening me to get their way. I won’t hesitate to gut them like a fish. “AJ has been dying to see you,” Adrian said trying to change the subject.

“Bring her by the office. I want her to see something I set up just for her.”
