Chapter 7: Not Stubborn. Just Careful.

“Hey, Penny!” I heard Ellie’s voice making me turn around to look at her. The classes for the day were over and everyone was leaving the hell hole we called school in a rush.

I smiled at Ellie as she walked up to me with Xander, the twins, Liam and his girlfriend, Kara, right behind her.

“Hey.” I say. “Why are you all still here? Aren’t you going home? Or is someone in trouble again?” I asked.

“Fortunately, no one’s in trouble right now.” Liam chuckled as he glared at Xander and the twins. “We all were actually just looking for you.” he told me.

“Me? What did I do?” I asked with a frown.

Why could they be looking for me? I mean, we did see each other during the break and in between the classes.

“Well, since you are now our friend, we were hoping that you’ll hang out with us today.” Jason spoke up with a nervous smile on his face.

“With all you guys?” I asked. They all nodded with eager smiles on their faces. They were all a bit childish to be honest. They were crazy as hell from what I’ve seen till now.

“Come on, Penny! We are just going to watch some movies and throw popcorn at each other. We don’t do anything extravagant.” Mason said. I chuckled at that.

“Okay.” I agreed, making Ellie jump up and hug me for a brief second. I chuckled at the happiness in all their faces. “I’ll just send a quick text to my uncle to tell him about my whereabouts.” I told them as I took my phone out.

It was weird for me to have made friends so fast. I mean, I wasn’t even trying to make any friends. I have always been a little too much for everyone at first before people get used to me. I just hope my parents don’t suddenly make me move away again.

“You’ll come with me, Pee-pee.” Mason said as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder as I kept my phone back and started to walk out of the school with everyone. I frowned as I looked at him.

“Pee-pee? Couldn’t you come up with something else?” I asked him, incredulously, as we continued to walk towards the parking lot. Pee-pee sounded gross!

“I can’t. I’m dumb.” Mason told me in a sincere voice. He looked completely serious. I rolled my eyes at him.

“Penny is my nickname. You can call me Penny.” I told him. It was his turn to roll his eyes.

“And be like everyone else? Have you ever seen me, sweetheart?” Mason asked me. “I’m different! I ooze different-ness!” Mason told me, making me laugh at his made-up word.

“Okay, call me whatever you want but please don’t call me something gross like pee-pee!” I told him. He pouted at that but nodded in agreement.

“I’ll come up with something completely awesome!” He told me. I shook my head at his childishness.

“Where is Damien?” I asked when I saw everyone getting into their cars but Damien was still nowhere to be seen.

“Why? Am I that boring?” Mason asked me. I ignored him as I looked at Ellie.

“He had to go home as soon as the class got over since his mother was leaving for work. We are actually all heading to his house now.” She told me.

“See! We’ll see him when we get there. Now, spend some time with us, the handsome face, Mace, and the gone case, Jace.” Mason said. Jason rolled his eyes before hitting the back of his brother’s head.

Mason rubbed the back of his head, glaring at Jason before hitting on his arm. I looked between the two twins as they started hitting each other.

Should I stop them?

“I’m calling shotgun!” I exclaimed, successfully distracting the two from their fight.

I swear, they have an attention span of a second!

“Oh man! I don’t wanna sit at the back!” Mason and Jason spoke in sync, mildly creeping me out.

I swear, identical twins speaking at the same time is creepy as hell! I mean, do they really have some telepathic power or what? Is twin-stinct a real thing?

“Guys, you do realize that one of you is going to be driving the car, right?” I asked. Both the brothers’ eyes grew wide as they looked at each other.

They both started fighting yet again, pulling each other’s hair and kicking each other. I sighed and rolled my eyes as I crossed my arms and looked at the two fighting over who gets to drive.

“Penny, do you wanna come with me and Xan?” Ellie asked me as she looked at Mason and Jason. I nod at her with a thankful look.

“That would be amazing! I can’t bear to be confined in a car with these two idiots! I would rather bear you and your cheesy boyfriend being all mushy!” I tell her. She chuckled as we both took a seat in Xander’s car.

“Ellie!” I hear a cute voice exclaiming as a small girl ran up to Ellie as I was removing my shoes. Ellie sat down and hugged the little girl.

I gasped as I saw the girl’s face when she pulled away from Ellie. She was really the cutest girl I have ever seen. She had beautiful dark hair and rosy cheeks. Her sweet and innocent eyes were big with wonder as she looked at me, shyly.

“Who is this beautiful little girl?” I questioned as I looked at her. She smiled shyly up at me as she tried to hide behind Ellie yet still peaked out to look at me. “She’s prettier than any princess that has ever existed!” I said making the little girl giggle as she came out from behind Ellie.

“I’m Aria.” She told me. “Who are you?” She asked me with curiosity shining in her eyes. I sat down on my knees to be at eye level with her.

“I’m Penelope. You can call me Penny.” I told her with a smile on my face.

I have always loved little kids. They are so cute and always full of energy unlike the teens. Little kids are innocent and so different from the selfish people of the world. They don’t befriend people for their use. They are pure at heart.

“You are so pretty!” Aria told me with wide eyes as she caressed my cheeks with her small hands. I smiled at her.

“I am nowhere as pretty as you. You are so cute!” I told her as I tickled her. She giggled and smiled when I stopped tickling her.

“Come! I’ll introduce you to Dami!” She told me as she took my hand and started pulling me inside the house with her. I smiled as I looked at the super excited little girl.

“Aria! Stop running and finish your sandwich!” I heard Damien’s voice. Aria pulled me to the kitchen with her. Damien was standing there, looking tired. “Aria...” Damien started but he trailed off when he saw me.

“Dami, this is my new friend, Penny!” Aria told Damien. I was controlling my laughter as the little girl called the big, brooding Damien with a cute little name. “Isn’t she pretty, Dami?” Aria asked when Damien didn’t do anything but just stared at me.

“Hi Dami!” I waved at Damien with a smile. He rolled his eyes and turned to the little girl with a stern expression.

“Finish your sandwich, Ari.” Damien told her as he motioned to a plate on the kitchen slab with half a sandwich left on it.

“I don’t want to eat it.” Aria grumbled. I smiled as I sat down on my knees to be on an eye-level with the little girl.

“If you finish your sandwich, maybe we can go and watch some princess movie.” I shrugged as I looked at Aria. Her eyes brightened up and she hurriedly took her sandwich and started eating it.

“Thank you.” Damien sighed as he saw the little girl finally eating her sandwich. “You have no idea how hard it is to make her finish her food.” He added in a tired voice.

“She’s your sister, right?” I asked Damien. He frowned and nodded his head. “Well, she shares the same stubbornness as you.” I commented.

“When have I been stubborn?” Damien asked me.

“Well, am I your friend, Mr. Tall-Dark-and-Handsome?” I asked him as I folded my arms. Damien rolled his eyes and folded his arms as he looked at me.

“That’s not being stubborn. That is being careful.” Damien told me. It was my turn to roll my eyes at him.

“Okay, Dami. Be careful!” I said as I raised my hands up in surrender. “But if you didn’t know, you are not supposed to let a person in your house when you don’t trust them.” I told him.

Damien was about to say something when Aria took my hand and started dragging me out of the kitchen.

“Come on! We have to watch a movie now!” She said excitedly.

Me: Here’s another update.

Penny: We worked so damn hard! We need a vacation!

Mason: Hell yeah!

Jason: We did such a nice work in the above chapter!

Ellie: *rolling her eyes* You just fought with your brother.

Me: But I wrote the chapter, edited it as much as my lazy self could and put it up!

Liam: *sarcastically* Gosh! You need to rest!

Me: See! That’s why you won’t be getting your own story!

Damien: Anyways, what they all are trying to say is that if we could all work so hard, the least you all can do is click on that tiny star at the bottom and comment your views on the chapter.

Penny: That is putting it all in one monologue.

Jason: And the gist of it all is, VOTE and COMMENT!

Mason: And SHARE! My awesomeness deserves a little more attention!

Me: And I need an award for tolerating your presence!

Jason: Tell me about it!

Mason: Anyways, we have a challenge for you all!

Xander: Anyone who could guess the speaker of the first and the last dialogue of the next chapter will get a special sneak-peek for the next chapter mailed to them ASAP!

Me: And by ASAP we mean as soon as I see your comment or personal message.

Ellie: And each one of you only gets 2 guesses each.

Damien: So, happy guessing!

Me: Also, since my best friend is a bit busy, I’m looking for a special reader. Someone who can read through my chapters and tell me if they’re good enough. And it is not a paid thing but whoever does this stuff will get to read like 10+ chapters ahead...

Xander: And to get the position of the special reader, you just have to show your interest, COMMENT and promise not to tell anyone anything about the chapters that you will be reading.

Ellie: And you are NOT required to have any special qualifications for this. You just need to know how to read English.

Penny: The next chapter will be up when at least 10 people have correctly guessed the speakers or on 4th May 2021. Whichever comes first...

Jason: Until then, stay safe!

Me and Mason: And eat cake!

Me: *mumbling* I really want some cake...

Mason: Me too!

Damien: *sighing* I’ll bake one!

Me and Mason: I love you, Dami!

Damien: That wasn’t really necessary.

Me: Oh really?

Damien: I love you too, dearest author!

Me: That’s better. Now, I want a red velvet cake!

Curtains close as all the characters and the author leave to have a cake party in crazy-topia...
