Chapter 13: A Demon from the Past

“So you are just like them.” I heard someone saying. I placed my text book in my locker and shut the door of my locker before turning around. Ethan was standing with his arms crossed and a distasteful look on his face.

“Excuse me?” I frowned. He scoffed as he walked closer to me.

The last class for the day was about to start in a few minutes and I was really not looking forward to whatever he had to say. But I had a feeling that something was about to happen here right now.

“You have chosen your side, right? You are choosing to believe Ellie and Xander instead of me, right?” Ethan scoffed. I sighed.

“There wasn’t a choice. Everyone in the school has the same thing to say about you.” I shrugged. Ethan chuckled, humourlessly.

“You think I am bad?” Ethan asked. I gave him a ‘are you kidding me’ look. “Then what about Ellie? She is not an angel either. They all are just as bad as I am!” Ethan said. I took a deep breath, trying to keep my calm.

“Are you done?” I asked him. I didn’t give him any time to reply. “Listen, I have to get to class now. I don’t want to be late.” I tried the polite approach to avoid whatever he was planning for. I gave him a forced smile as I walked away from him.

“I shouldn’t have expected anything else from the girl who beat Gavin up to pulp and left him alone when he fainted.” Ethan’s words made me freeze.

How did he find out about that?

Wait… That guy’s name was Gavin? I thought it was something like Gargoyle… Well, it’s close…

I turned around to face Ethan to find him smirking at me. I narrowed my eyes at him and gritted my teeth, trying to contain my anger.

I remember beating a guy up and leaving him there when he passed out. That was the day when Damien first approached me, asking me to baby-sit his sister. I don’t forget my victims.

But in my defence, I didn’t do anything wrong. That Gavin-guy came to me and that too in the girl’s locker room when I was getting a spare T-shirt. The T-shirt I was wearing was soaked in ink when I was trying to inspect the ink in a pen during a super boring class.

I was all alone there when he approached me and he asked me out. When I refused, he was throwing insults at me and I ignored him but when he commented about how I was a spoiled rich brat with my parents running around to fulfill all my wishes, I lost it.

He even gripped my wrist and was trying to scare me into going out with him. I simply twisted his arm, kicked him in the guts, broke his leg and nose. I didn’t do any other damage!

“What do you want?” I asked Ethan as he walked closer to me. I was just a second away from breaking his bones. I just needed a reason and I wouldn’t think twice before rearranging his pretty face.

“I just want to tell you that you are just hanging out with people just like you.” Ethan told me. I furrowed my eyebrows together as I waited for him to elaborate. “You’re not the first girl to beat Gavin to pulp. Ellie did it a while ago too.” He told me.

“And I’m pretty sure that he must have deserved it.” I rolled my eyes. “What is your point here, Ethan? I know that Gavin isn’t exactly a good guy who got beat up by me and Ellie.” I sighed, tired of this conversation already.

“What you don’t know is that Ellie is a high school bully.” Ethan said. Before I could defend my new friend, Ethan showed me his phone screen and played a video.

It was a video that was shot in the school’s cafeteria probably by some student. What caught my attention was that it was a video of all of my new friends.

“Leah!” Mason called out to a girl who was standing with her friends, looking for a place to sit. Ellie hissed something at Mason as the girl walked up to their table.

“Yes?” The girl asked. Ellie glared at her before she turned to her food.

“The food at the cafeteria is horrible today. I hate to even look at it. And I thought that it was so horrible that I couldn’t even look at it.” Mason told the girl.

She frowned at him before glancing down at her tray. Ellie smirked as her eyes connected with Mason’s. He smirked at her.

“What my brother is trying to say is that he feels that today’s cafeteria food is so bad that no one should even look at it.” Jason spoke up. He stood up besides his brother, Mason.

“Umm… So?” Leah, the girl, questioned in confusion. Ellie smirked and got up from her seat. Leah flinched slightly as she stared at Ellie with a frightened expression.

“What my friends are trying to say is that the food might have been so horrible that we couldn’t bear to even look at it without feeling sick. But your face is much worse!” Ellie said, smirking at the end. Leah was still slightly confused but her friends backed away slowly.

“Let me elaborate on what Ellie just said.” Xander said before he got up and picked up the plate with the gooey stuff that was in his lunch try. He poured it on her head making her gasp loudly. Everyone in the cafeteria laughed as the gooey stuff dripped from her hair and onto her clothes.

“I think I would love to further elaborate that.” Ellie said before she poured the contents of her plate onto her head too. Everyone in the cafeteria laughed louder at that. Leah was still a little too shocked to reply. Soon, everyone started throwing their lunch on Leah’s head.

The video ended there.

I was shocked but I didn’t want to believe it.

“Did you see what your friends really are?” Ethan asked me. “They are just as bad as me, if not worse.” He commented. I chuckled at him.

“Big deal, Ethan.” I smirked. His smirk fell as he looked at me. “It is the twenty-first century if you don’t remember. Videos can be edited very easily with the technology we have.” I elaborated.

“Then why don’t you go up to your friends and ask them about this, huh? I’m sure they’ll tell you the truth, won’t they?” Ethan spoke up after a while. His face was red with anger as he scoffed at me before turning around and leaving me alone as I thought about it.

Ethan had sounded pretty confident as he told me to ask my friends about it. Did that mean that the video was real? Did that mean that the people that I now lovingly called my friends did in fact bully someone at school?

To top it off, I had heard that Leah had joined the school just a few months before I did.

Being someone who was used to being the new girl quite often, I knew how big of an impact such things could have left on her mind. I wasn’t someone who ever got bullied mostly because I used my fists whenever situations started turning ugly but even I know how much bullying can affect a person.

If that video was real, then I had to do something. I wasn’t here when it might have happened but I am here now and I wouldn’t let it all pass.

But I couldn’t just believe everything Ethan said and showed me. I was first going to ask Ellie about it. I was sure that she wouldn’t hide anything from me. She wouldn’t lie. She would tell me what really happened.

I was sure that the people who had welcomed me to their group with open arms weren’t demons from hell.

Being with my new friends made me feel at home. I couldn’t imagine them being someone so vile!

I have to talk to Ellie ASAP!

Me: This update is dedicated to the amazing reader who helped me a lot!

Mason: Well, that start was new! You usually just say the boring old hi or hello...

Me: *rolling my eyes* I thought you were still not back on earth.

Jason: Liam used the human magnet to bring us back.

Ellie: Human magnet?

Mason: Yeah that giant horseshoe magnet-like thing in the middle of crazy-topia is a human magnet.

Penny: I did not see that one coming!

Me: *sighing* I created it last time when I sent Mason to Pluto. I couldn’t find him and I needed his help with the story...

Damien: Isn’t that the one which was remote controlled?

Me: Yeah.

Damien: It might still be set to attract these two idiots! Just activate it!

Mason: NO! I wanna say my cake line this time!

Me: Then behave!

Mason and Jason zip their lips.

Penny: Well that’s good. Now, the next update will be up on 3rd June 2021.

Xander: Which is Thursday.

Damien: Don’t forget to LIKE, VOTE, COMMENT and SHARE!

Jason: Until next time, stay safe.

Me and Mason: And eat cake!

Curtains close as the author and the characters start having a pillow fight out of the blue...
