Chapter 14: The Jealous Prince

“Ellie? Can we talk?” I asked. Ellie turned to me with a smile on her face but that smile vanished and a frown formed on her face when she saw my serious face.

“What happened, Penny? Is everything okay?” She asked me with a worried tone.

How can this girl ever bully someone?

I haven’t known Ellie for long but I haven’t seen her ever being rude to anyone in the short time that I’ve been around. Ellie has been so nice to me even after knowing that I twisted her best friend’s arm on my first day.

Ellie welcomed me to her group with open arms even when she knew next to nothing about me. How can such a nice girl ever be a bully?

That video was clearly edited, Penny! Ellie couldn’t have done such a thing!

I know that Mason likes to pull pranks. He is a prankster with not even an ounce of seriousness in his whole being. But he has a nice heart. He could never stoop to such levels.

But then why did Ethan sound so confident with his claims?

I have to clear this confusion now! Otherwise this might create a problem in our friendship. I can’t let my doubts live any longer.

I took a deep breath as I readied myself to speak what was on my mind. I just hope Ellie doesn’t take it the wrong way…

“Ellie, I saw a video of you throwing your gooey lunch on a girl in the cafeteria.” I told her in a careful tone as I watched her expression. “Please tell me that you didn’t do that. Please tell me that it was an edited video.” I said when Ellie didn’t say anything.

Ellie’s smile was gone from her face. Every emotion vanished from her face as the emotionless face stared down at the floor.

“Was that girl Leah?” Ellie asked me, her tone leveled and controlled.

“Yes.” I told her. Ellie took a deep breath as she looked up at me, directly into my eyes.

“That video you saw wasn’t edited. It was real.” She told me. The second the words came out of her mouth, my heart skipped a beat.

“How- Why- What-?” I asked her, not having the right words to express my shock or to voice all my questions at once. “You do know that that was bullying, right?” I asked her when she didn’t say anything. She sighed as she looked at me.

“I know! And I know that whatever I did that day was wrong but she was spreading rumours about my best friend. I couldn’t just let her go like that!” Ellie told me.

“That doesn’t mean that you can bully her!” I exclaimed, attracting attention from the people around us. Ellie glanced around nervously before looking down. I turned to the people who stopped to look at what was happening. “Mind your own businesses, gossipers!” I shouted, making them all move away to do whatever they were doing before. I turned back to Ellie.

“I wanted to apologize but it was too late. And then I got busy with all the stuff that was happening in our lives.” Ellie explained. She sighed as she closed her eyes before looking back at me. “Look, I’ll understand if you hate me after this and never want to talk to me again. But I do accept that I did make some bad decisions and moves in life.” she told me.

“I don’t hate you, Elle.” I sighed.

“Does this mean that you’ll still be my friend?” She asked me, hopefully.

“Yes.” I told her. She instantly had a huge smile on her face as she wrapped her arms around me in a hug. “But I still want you to apologize to Leah.” I told her. She pulled away.

“But… Isn’t it too late? I’m sure that she hates me by now and she wouldn’t even listen to me. It might not make a difference, Penny.” Ellie reasoned.

“You don’t have to worry about it. Your job is to ask for forgiveness since you did something wrong. Then it’s Leah’s business if she wants to forgive you or not. Just do your job.” I told her firmly. She nodded her head nervously.

“I will do it tomorrow.” She told me as she tried to hide her nervousness. I took her hands in mine. She looked at me.

“I’ll be right beside you when you talk to her. Don’t worry.” I assured her.

“Thanks.” She smiled at me. I smiled back at her. “But we are having a sleepover at my house tonight and you are joining!” Ellie told me on a lighter note. I chuckled as I nodded my head.

“Wouldn’t miss it for the world!” I told her.

“And do you remember how angry Kara was?” Mason said in between laughter as we all laughed along with him.

“Don’t make fun of my girlfriend! I know that she is a bit naive but she has a good heart. Unlike you!” Liam defended Kara, whose cheeks were flaming red as she tried to hide her face behind her hands.

“A bit naive? Have you really met her, Liam?” Ellie asked before we all started laughing even harder.

God! I love this sleepover!

We all were discussing which movie we should watch when Xander told me about the incident when Ellie manipulated Kara for her amusement. Everyone joined in, the topic of the movies long forgotten.

I was sitting between Jason and Mason since they both wanted to sit with me while Xander was sitting on the recliner with Ellie on his lap. Liam and Kara were in a similar position on another recliner. We were still waiting for Damien to arrive.

“Hey!” Liam said as he hugged the embarrassed Kara closer to his side. “Get yourself a girlfriend and tease her! Leave Kara alone!” He told us though we could see his struggle to suppress his own laughter.

“But she is my girlfriend!” Ellie protested. She glanced at me before turning back to Liam. “And my other girlfriend, Penny, is not that naive. She is more like a partner in crime.” She added. I smirked as we both high-fived each other.

“You really do need more girlfriends.” Liam noted. Ellie rolled her eyes at his comment.

“I’m fine with you all.” Ellie shrugged.

Just as Liam was about to say something in return, we heard the sound of the main door opening. All of us turned to look at whoever came in.

“Penny!” Aria squealed as she ran to me with her arms wide open. I chuckled as I got up and picked her up. She wrapped her arms around my neck as I held her close to me by her waist.

“Hello, my koala bear!” I said as I hugged her.

“Wow! Looks like she completely forgot about us.” Xander commented in the background. Aria turned her head to look at him as I placed her back on the ground. She went to give him a hug, making him smile at her. “Hello, Princess!” He said as he hugged her back.

I turned to look at Damien who came behind the little bundle of energy. He was already looking at me. I smiled at him and playfully blew a flying kiss in his direction. He rolled his eyes but he couldn’t hide his smile.

“I had to bring her with me since my mom’s on a night shift and I can’t leave her alone at home.” Damien told us.

“It’s good that you brought her with you. Her energetic self will cover for the boringness you bring with yourself.” Jason said as he ruffled Aria’s hair. Aria glared at him as she ran away from him. Damien rolled his eyes as he sat down on the couch.

“Don’t roll your eyes, Damien. You know how amazing my princess is!” Ellie said as she sat down on the recliner with Aria in her lap. Xander took a seat next to Damien, nodding in agreement with Ellie.

“Don’t tease him, guys! He’s not that bad!” I defended the silent guy who just rolled his eyes in his defence. Jason snorted at my words.

“Yeah! He is not that bad. He’s worse!” Mason commented. I huffed as I knew that I couldn’t say anything to change their mind.

“But he’s not!” Aria defended her big brother. “He is amazing! He makes hot chocolate for me!” she added, innocently.

“Princess, sorry to say this but your brother is a big meanie.” Jason told Aria. She frowned at that.

“No, he’s not!” She insisted. “My brother is a prince! He is better than everyone else!” She stated.

“Well, he might be a prince but he can never get a princess.” Liam muttered. We all laughed at that but Aria was now pouting angrily.

This girl is so damn adorable!

“He already has a girlfriend!” Aria spoke up. She turned to look at me but before she could say something else, Damien interrupted her.

“No, I don’t. And don’t even say what you were just about to say, Aria!” Damien warned his sister. She huffed as she folded her arms in anger. I chuckled at her cuteness which earned her attention.

“Who is your prince, Penny?” Aria asked me. I opened my mouth to reply but Damien spoke up before I could say anything.

“Aria! What did I just say?” He spoke with a warning in his tone. Aria raised an eyebrow in defiance.

“You asked me not to talk about your princess. I’m talking about Penny’s prince now.” She shrugged. “Why are you so worried? Are you her prince?” She inquired.

“I don’t have a prince.” I spoke up before Damien could scold the little girl again. Aria pouted at that but in just a couple seconds, she was practically bouncing in excitement as she clapped her tiny hands.

“Then choose one right now!” Aria cheered. My eyes grew wide. I heard a few bursts of laughter which were covered by coughs when I glared at everyone.

“Yes, Penny. Choose your prince now, honey.” Mason said as he scooted closer to me. I glared at him but he smirked at me.

“I support Aria. Choose a prince, Princess Penny!” Jason said as he too scooted closer to me. I glared at the two brothers as they grinned widely at me. I couldn’t help but smile as I looked at the goofy expression on the two identical faces.

I glanced at Ellie who gave me a thumbs up, making me laugh. I looked between the twins as they kept the goofy grins on their faces.

“Choose me, Penny!” Mason encouraged.

“No, choose me, Penny!” Jason countered.

I bit my lips as I tried to control my laughter. I kept looking between the twins as they glared at each other while smiling charmingly at me from time to time.

“I will choose…” I trailed off as I kept glancing between the two.

“Me.” I suddenly felt a big, warm hand grabbing mine and pulling me up from my seat. I gasped in shock as an angry Damien wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to him.

Before I could process what was happening much less react to it all, Damien crashed his lips on mine, effectively silencing all my thoughts.

Me: *in a deep, evil voice* Let’s conquer the freaking world!

Penny: Umm... The curtains are up...

Me: *whispering* Why didn’t anyone say something before?

Mason: Because I was looking forward to conquering the world!

Jason: Me too!

Ellie: Me three!

Xander: Me four!

Me: STOP! I know that you guys are in my army!

Liam: Let’s continue with the relevant discussion, shall we?

Me: I am early with the update! Way too early!

Liam: I said relevant…

Penny: *sighing* We will be speeding up the updates a little bit. Well, I hope we will be...

Damien: We will be putting it up for a vote.

Ellie: Would you want us all to visit you guys more than once a week?

Mason: Option A- Yes, of course!

Jason: Option B- No, we are happy with the current pace.

Me: I need you guys to speak up now. If you don’t I might have to pause the updates!

Xander: So, VOTE, COMMENT, LIKE and SHARE!

Me: As the number of reads and comments and votes and likes increase, the frequency of the updates will increase too.

Penny: And the next update will be up on 4th June...

Xander: Which is Friday!

Me: That update might be postponed if we do not get enough votes on the above question!

Jason: Until next time, stay safe!

Me and Mason: And eat cake!

Curtains close as the author runs off as she remembers one of her closest friend’s birthday is coming up in a few days...
