Chapter 22: Professional Pranking

“Did you hear about the prank?” Ellie asked me when I took a seat next to her in the classroom. I knew exactly what she was talking about and so I smirked a little as I opened my notebook.

The whole school was talking about the same thing since the morning. They couldn’t stop laughing about the prank in which Ethan and his whole locker was covered in a mixture of different glittery colours.

And to top that off, the colours were golden, silver, purple and pink. But mostly pink…

“I saw the whole thing.” I told her. Her eyes grew wide with excitement and she looked at me as if I was Santa Claus.

“Explain everything in detail!” She commanded me, making me laugh. I looked to the door to find Damien and Jason walking in as they talked about something with frowns on their faces.

“What happened to you two?” I asked them when they came closer. Jason sighed tiredly as he took the seat in front of me.

“There are rumours floating around about how Mason was behind the whole thing. I don’t know what Principal Hughes will do now.” Damien told me as he took the seat next to me.

I frowned at his words. I couldn’t think of any way by which anyone would even suspect Mason’s hand behind the amazing prank.

Well, to be fair, he was involved…

“What about his alibi?” I asked in a serious tone as I looked at Jason. Jason bit his lip nervously, avoiding eye-contact.

“What do you mean by his alibi?” Ellie asked in confusion.

“He doesn’t have one since Jason was supposedly in detention at the time.” Damien informed me. I glared at Jason in anger.

“You sneaked out of detention and you didn’t even think about telling me about it?” I whisper-yelled at Jason. He pressed his lips together in a straight line as he looked down at the floor, guiltily. He then looked up at me with a pleading look.

“I didn’t want to spoil anything! And I forgot about detention because we were all having so much fun!” Jason defended himself.

I rolled my eyes before huffing out a breath in frustration. Just because this idiot was having too much fun, he has now put his own brother in the danger zone.

“Wait, am I missing something here?” Ellie asked with furrowed eyebrows. She leaned closer to me. “Did you guys pull that prank?” She asked in a whisper.

I shrugged in reply, making Ellie gasp dramatically as she stared at me, Jason and Damien with wide eyes.

“Maybe we can say that he was with us?” Damien asked me. I thought about it before shrugging my shoulders.

“Wait! You even involved Damien but you didn’t involve me? You didn’t involve the prank queen?” Ellie spoke with hurt clear in her eyes.

“I wasn’t going to involve anyone other than my chauffeur but these idiots saw me with the paints and so I let them tag along.” I told her honestly.

“Why didn’t you guys call me?” She asked the boys who rolled their eyes.

“You were the one who asked us not to bother you on your date with Xan.” Jason shot back.

“Why did I say that at the wrong time?” Ellie groaned, making me chuckle.

“I’ll involve you in the next adventure. Promise.” I assured her with a smile.

“You better!” She warned me. I nodded my head.

“For now, please tell me that you made a video!” Ellie whined. Damien frowned at her.

“A lot of people made videos and posted them. Haven’t you seen?” Damien asked Ellie.

“Those videos start from when everything was already colourful. I want to see it all from the start.” Ellie argued. I smiled at her.

“Don’t worry. I am a professional prankster. I made sure to record everything.” I told her. She squealed before giving me a quick hug.

She sat back in her seat and looked at me expectedly. I furrowed my eyebrows, not understanding what she wanted.

“So? Where is it?” She asked. “Where is the video?” Her voice was full of excitement.

“I didn’t know you made a video.” Jason grumbled. I raised an eyebrow at him. “I mean, you were standing next to me. I didn’t see you making a video.” He explained.

“Well, I am a professional. I wouldn’t just record it on my phone!” I replied.

“But then why were we standing there?” Damien asked.

Is he stupid?

“To enjoy the live show!” I answered. Even though it was all recorded, watching a prank live is the best. I thought that as a fellow troublemaker he would’ve known that.

“I wish I could’ve been there with you!” Ellie sighed sadly. “But now I wanna see the video.” She said, turning to me.

“I am a professional, honey. I can’t just show you the video and then keep it a secret!” I said. Ellie frowned my words in confusion.

“What do you mean?” Jason asked the question that I could see on Ellie’s and Damien’s face too. I smirked as I inspected my nails.

“We’re going to post it online.” I said in a nonchalant voice. Jason chuckled and Ellie squealed while Damien smiled a little.

“But wouldn’t that prove that you knew something was going to happen?” Ellie asked me after a while. My smirk widened at that.

“That’s exactly why we are not posting it from our social media accounts.” I commented.

“So we are going to make a new anonymous account, right?” It was Jason who said those senseless words.

“We want an audience, Jace. Which means we need someone who has a lot of followers.” I spoke slowly as if I was talking to a four year old.

“How are we going to do that?” Ellie asked. She looked confused yet very excited. I couldn’t help but smile at her.

Just then, the guy who I now knew as Gavin stepped into the class. When he spotted me, he walked hurriedly up to me and handed me a phone.

“What are you doing here?” Damien asked Gavin, sounding angry. I rolled my eyes as I focused on the phone in my hand.

The phone had no password which made it even easier for me to do what I wanted. I quickly sent the video from my phone to the phone in my hand.

“As you know, I am all about forgiveness. So when Gavin, here, tried to apologize for when he tried to corner me alone in the girl’s locker room, I forgave him. For a price of course.” I said, not moving my gaze from the phone in my hands.

“Are you using his phone to upload the video?” Jason asked in confusion. I looked at him.

“Don’t be silly, Jace! This is not his phone.” I told him, turning the phone to show him the back cover which was glittery pink and was decorated further with big fake jewels-like things.

How does she even hold her phone with all these things on the cover?

“Who’s phone is it?” Damien asked me. When I didn’t answer, he turned to Gavin who just smirked, not saying anything.

“I think I know.” Ellie said, a small smirk making its way on her face as she looked at the phone then at me.

“Whose phone is it?” Mason asked, his voice full of curiosity as he looked at Ellie.

“A little birdie who has a lot of followers and has managed to get on my bad side by flirting with first Xander and then trying to hit on Damien yesterday.” I shrugged.

Jason’s frown deepened while Damien’s eyes turned wide as he realised who I was talking about.

“Sarah…” Damien whispered. I smirked, nodding my head in confirmation.

“You got Sarah’s phone out of her claws?” Jason asked, turning to Gavin, looking completely shocked.

“I have amazing pick-pocketing skills.” Gavin shrugged. “And even if she would have caught me, I think that Penny is scarier than Sarah.” He added.

“Aww! Thanks!” I smiled at Gavin who chuckled at me. I quickly went back to work as Jason smiled at Gavin.

I uploaded the video to all of Sarah’s social media accounts, making sure to leave absolutely no trace leading back to me.

I sighed before handing the phone back to Gavin with a satisfied smile on my face.

“Am I forgiven?” Gavin asked me. I smiled as I got up from my seat and hugged him. I pulled away when I caught a glimpse of Damien’s clenched fists.

“You are forgiven. And if you manage to get this back to her without her knowing anything, I’d let you tell everyone that I know you.” I winked at him before sitting back in my seat.

He grinned at me before running off to return Sarah’s phone.

“You managed to turn Gavin against his own friend! I thought he was Ethan’s best friend. You are amazing! You’re like the devil’s right hand person, Penny.” Jason told me with a small smirk. I rolled my eyes.

“You are underestimating me here.” I told him. “Gavin doesn’t know what he was helping me with. Ethan was the one who sent him to ask for my forgiveness. He just did what I asked, thinking that I was just pranking Sarah.” I explained. Jason chuckled, shaking his head.

“So, in a way, you used Ethan to upload his own humiliating video.” Ellie chuckled.

“Just remind me never to piss you off.” Jason muttered before the bell rang and the teacher entered the classroom.
