Chapter 37: Trouble with the Camera

“So what? You are just going to choose him over me?” Ethan asked.

“Isn’t that the right thing to do?” I asked him. “I mean, I’m telling you the truth here. I like Damien more. If I have to choose between you two, I’ll choose him.” I shrugged.

“What about giving me a chance?” He asked. I could see that he was shocked and not at all happy.

“It won’t be fair when I won’t choose you anyway.” I sighed. “Look, I am telling you this because I don’t want to lead you on.” I explained.

“I understand.” He sighed.

“Thanks for understanding!” I smiled at him. He gave me a small smile, nodding his head.

“But we are friends, right?” He raised an eyebrow in question.

“Obviously!” I chuckled. “Who else will I go to when I want to feel like a laser tag champion?” I smirked. He rolled his eyes at that.

“I wasn’t that bad!” He bit his lip trying to hide his smile.

“Yeah, keep telling yourself that, buddy!” I chuckled. He chuckled with me, shaking his head.

“Anyways, I’ll go now. I have to meet the coach before going for lunch.” He told me. “Bye, Penny!” He waved.

“Bye!” I chirped, waving back as he turned around and left.

Well, that was easy!

I sighed as I turned to the side where Damien was standing with a huge book covering his face. He brought the book down and looked at me.

When I told Damien that I wanted to tell Ethan about him and I, Damien wasn’t sure. While he wanted me to break it off with Ethan, he didn’t want me to talk to him alone.

As if Ethan would mind-control me or something!

Knowing that talking to Ethan with Damien standing next to me like a bodyguard would have been a bit strange and would look like he was forcing me to have that particular talk.

That would have just created a truck load of misunderstandings and drama!

So, Ellie, the great genius, suggested that Damien hide behind a book or something while I talk to Ethan. That way, Damien would be able to hear everything and Ethan wouldn’t even know.

That girl has great ideas, doesn’t she?

I still thought that Damien was being a bit over protective. But if it helped ease his worries then why not?

“That was unexpected.” Damien frowned.

“I told you, he is a nice guy.” I shrugged. Damien narrowed his eyes at me as he walked closer.

“Nicer than me?” He questioned as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I chuckled as I wrapped my arms around his neck.

He’s so cute when he’s jealous…

“I don’t know.” I said as I pretended to think. “Did you get in trouble today for anything? Like detention or something after school?” I raised an eyebrow at him.

He rolled his eyes as he sighed.

“I am not that big of a troublemaker. I can go months if not years without getting in trouble.” He told me.

“Tell that to the principal. I’m sure he would have a good laugh at that statement.” I snorted.

“The point is…” Damien sighed as he looked at me. “I won’t get into trouble today. I am taking you on that date we talked about.” He informed me.

I smiled at that. He was on his best behaviour just for our date. If that wasn’t the sweetest thing then I don’t know what was…

That’s the sweetest troublemaker move ever!

“You are so cute!” I told him.

“Excuse me?” He raised an eyebrow at me.

“Please don’t tell me that you are one of those guys who don’t like being called cute!” I groaned.

“Well, I don’t. But if you are into cute guys then I might just be the cutest.” He told me in a matter-of-fact tone. I chuckled at his words.

“Oh god no!” Someone groaned loudly. I turned to see Jason and Mason making disgusted faces as they walked towards us.

“Please save the mushy and disgusting stuff for later.” Jason said. “No offence though! You guys make a cute couple!” He added when Damien glared at the twins.

“What are you guys doing here?” I asked them as I pulled away from Damien.

“We were hoping to have an adventure!” Mason exclaimed. I sighed, crossing my arms.

Here we go…

“Who’s getting pranked now?” I asked.

“Principal Hughes!” Mason answered excitedly. He was practically bouncing on his feet with a goofy smile on his face. He looked a little too comical.

He’s such a goof-ball!

“What have you two done?” Damien asked suspiciously.

“Nothing…” Mason answered, trying to hide his grin by looking away.

I turned to Jason who looked like he was about to burst at any moment with how excited he was. I raised an eyebrow at him in question.

“We put glue on his chair, his office phone and glued his cell phone to the table!” Jason almost shouted. “Well, his cell phone’s cover.” He shrugged.

Oh god!

“You two know that there’s a camera in his office, right?” Damien asked. Suddenly, both the twins froze with an alarmed expression on their faces.

“Shit!” They both yelled in unison.

“You both are going to get in a wagon load of trouble, boys!” Damien shook his head.

“How do you know about the camera?” I asked him.

“I’ve been there countless times. I observe things.” He shrugged.

For a second there I forgot he was on top of my uncle’s hate list…

“Maybe they are not in trouble yet.” I thought out loud.

I did tell my uncle that I was no longer going to stop anyone from pranking him. I should make good on that statement, right?

I mean, I’m not one who goes back on my words!

Besides, I didn’t want my goofy idiotic friends to get in trouble. Uncle K already hated them a little too much. Maybe I’ll tell him later but I just wanted to be a part of this prank. I am someone who holds grudges for the smallest of things.

And there’s nothing better than sweet-sweet revenge…

I could almost hear the devilish chuckle ringing through my head…

“What do you mean?” Jason asked.

“Do you guys know where they store the recordings?” I asked the three of them.

“I didn’t even know that there was a camera! How would I know where they keep the recordings?” Mason snorted.

“In the principal’s computer, I think.” Damien answered. “But I am not completely sure.” He added.

“I’ll figure it out.” I reported. “Just wish me luck!” I sighed as I looked at the three of them.

“What are you going to do?” Damien asked.

“I’m going to delete the recordings.” I shrugged.

“But how will you do that?” Mason questioned.

“We are not even sure about where they keep those!” Jason exclaimed.

“But the lady sitting outside the principal’s office would know, right?” I smirked.

“Penny, this could make them put the whole blame on you!” Damien warned.

“We don’t want you to get into trouble because of us, Penny.” Mason told me.

“Don’t worry, guys. I won’t get into trouble.” I told them.

“Penny…” Jason sighed.

“Boys! I won’t get into trouble!” I exclaimed. “This won’t be the first time I am planning something like that. I’m famous for my pranks!” I told them seriously.

“Are you sure about this?” Damien asked.

“I most definitely am.” I smiled at him.

“What can we do to help?” Mason asked.

“Just act normal.” I told them.

“We can do that.” Jason said.

“Good.” I said. I then turned to Damien. “And you! Don’t get into trouble. I am still looking forward to our date!” I warned him.

He chuckled before he pecked my lips.

“Don’t land yourself in detention!” He told me. I nodded before I turned and walked to the principal’s office.
