Chapter 46: No Coconuts

“Oh god no!” I exclaimed as I looked at Sarah with wide eyes. She pressed her lips in a thin line and nodded her head with a grimace.

I couldn’t help as I started laughing uncontrollably. I was laughing so much that I didn’t even feel it when I rolled off of the bed.

Jelly donuts! That’s gonna hurt later…

“Hey! Don’t laugh at me like that!” Sarah said as she threw a fluffy pillow at me. I took deep breaths as I sobered up from my laughing fit.

Breathe in… Breathe out…

“I’m sorry. I just couldn’t help myself.” I told her honestly. She rolled her eyes with a hint of a smile on her face.

We were both currently sitting in my room. After the incident, I was super tired and since she already knew my secret, I asked her to come over to my place for the tutoring of the day.

So here we were. But we weren’t studying. We ditched our books at my study table after about half an hour of doing math. We decided to just talk about everything and anything rather than bore ourselves after that tiring day.

It felt like I survived hell!

The ringing of my phone made me frown as I got up from the floor and walked up to my bag near my desk. I took my phone out and saw Ellie’s name flashing on the screen.

Oh god!

Does she know about everything? Did the boys tell the others?

Is she calling to tell me to stay away from all of them from now on?

Shouldn’t penguins have the ability to fly?!

Wait… That was a random thought of anxiety…

Not now, Penny!

You can stress over that some other time…

I don’t think it’s time to really think about that right now. I should just focus on the fact that Ellie is calling me and panic about it.

Sarah must have sensed my panic because she got up from the bed and walked up to me. She glanced at the screen of the phone before nudging me.

“Why aren’t you picking it up?” She asked me curiously.

I bit my lip as I looked at the screen.

Should I?

I don’t think that I’ll be able to handle any more cruel words today.

I wasn’t prepared for it and that was why they tore my heart out today. I needed some time to recover and to build my walls up again.

Sarah nudged me again but a second later, the phone stopped ringing, showing the missed call.

“Oops! Just missed it.” I chuckled nervously.

The phone started ringing once again.

Holy hash brown!

“And it started ringing again! Lucky you.” Sarah mocked me as she smiled at me, patting my shoulder. I closed my eyes trying to decide what to say now. “Hey! Just pick it up. I’m right here.” Sarah whispered.

I looked at her for a second before nodding my head.

You can do it, Penny!

Put your crown on, girl! You’re bulletproof! Nothing can hurt you!

Maybe an asteroid can…

Ellie is no asteroid!

A bus or a car can hurt me too… Oooo! And a monster truck can too…

Wow! Humans really are fragile…

I took a deep breath before clicking on the screen to accept the call before putting the device to my ear.

I braced myself for the onslaught.

“How can you do this?” Ellie’s voice floated through the phone.

“Ellie, I can explain.” I sighed.

“No! Just no.” She told me. “How can you invite Sarah over for a sleepover but not me?” She questioned.

Sarah and I were just laying on the bed a few minutes ago when she clicked a picture of the two of us and posted it on her social media telling me that this will make my ex-friends jealous.

She was weird…

But she was nice to me when my own friends weren’t.

“It wasn’t a sleepover.” I told Ellie.

“It wasn’t tutoring either, missy.” Ellie replied in a bossy tone.

“We were bored.” I told her.

“So am I. I am coming over.” Ellie told me. Before I could say anything, she spoke up again. “Oh! I’ll call Kara! We can have a girl’s night!” She squealed.

“Hey! What about me?” I heard Xander’s voice in the background which made me giggle.

“You can do a guys night with the jerks and Liam.” Ellie told him.

“Jerks?” I couldn’t help but be curious as to why she called the others ‘jerks’.

“Those dumb brainless zombies came over a while ago, telling us about how you have apparently deceived us.” Ellie snorted. Judging by her tone, I could tell that she was rolling her eyes now.

“You know?” I whispered.

“That you’re the Principal’s niece?” Ellie asked. I hummed in reply, not trusting myself with words. “So what? I am my uncle’s niece too! Big deal.” Ellie chuckled humorously.

“You’re not mad?” I asked her in shock.

“Mad about what?” Ellie asked with confusion clear in her voice.

“Can Sarah join the sleepover?” I asked, changing the subject.

If she wasn’t mad, I wasn’t going to explain to her why I thought she might be mad. That might give her a reason to actually be mad.

Confusing? Well, so am I!

“I heard how she tried to knock some sense into the dumb creatures heads. She has been a nice friend to you. Sounds like she is trying to change for the better.” I could almost hear a smile in her voice. “I can’t see why we can have her with us too.” She added.

“Honestly, I almost thought that given your history, you would have been mad at me for asking that question.” I told her with a chuckle as I looked at Sarah who was frowning in confusion.

“The past is in the past. Xan’s mine and everyone’s happy.” Ellie replied. “Well, at least the creatures with some brain cells are happy. Damien lost his brain cells when he started hanging out with the twins.” She sighed.

“Girls night. No boys allowed.” I reminded her.

“Looking forward to it.” She giggled.

“Should I send you the address?” I asked her.

“Don’t you think that I know where the Principal’s house is?” She snorted through the phone. “I’ll be there with Kara. Bye!” She chirped.

“Bye.” I chuckled as I took the phone away from my ear.

“So? What happened?” Sarah asked with a smile on her face. “It sounded like it all went well.” She added, her smile widening.

“It did go well. She is coming over with Kara for a sleepover.” I told Sarah, mirroring her smile.

“Guess my work here is done then.” She sighed as she started packing up her book bag. “I’ll go before they arrive.” She told me.

“Hey! Did you not hear me when I asked if you could join?” I questioned as I crossed my arms.

“There is no way Ellie would have agreed to it!” Sarah snorted.

“Why not?” I frowned.

Sarah glanced at me with a are-you-kidding-me look. I rolled my eyes at that.

“There’s just too much bad blood between the two of us. We can never be friends.” She sighed a little sadly.

“Never say never!” I smirked.

Sarah frowned as she looked at me. She tilted her head to the side in confusion.

“What do you mean?” She questioned.

“Well, you are changing.” I shrugged. “Why wouldn’t Ellie appreciate that?” I raised an eyebrow at her.

“She wouldn’t believe me. And honestly, you’ve just been through some drama. I don’t want to create more for you.” She smiled sadly at me.

“Actually, she does believe you. The boys must have told her everything. She’s okay with you joining.” I told her. She was speechless. “Please just join us. I want you to!” I added.

“But-” She tried to say but I cut her off.

“No cuts. No buts. No coconuts.” I told her. She still looked hesitant so I gave her my best pouty face with a large doe eyed look. “I’ve been through so much drama.” I joked.

“Okay! Fine!” Sarah rolled her eyes. I grin widely before wrapping my arms around her in a hug.

“This is so sweet!” We hear a voice saying which makes us look at the person standing in the doorway of my room. “But I heard you mentioning drama. So speaking of the devil, here I am!” She smirked as she looked at me.

I was too shocked to say anything as my eyes grew wide and my mouth hung open.

But Sarah wasn’t shocked. She was just confused.

“You’re drama?” Sarah asked her.

Yup! Drama is here…

Penny: Umm... the caps lock is turned on...

Jason: Your words are all in all caps...

Me: WHA-! Oh... So, who is this drama person!?

Penny: You wrote it! You should know!

Me: You lived it! You know better!

Ellie: You do realise that that sounds ridiculous, right?

Me: You do realise that I am ridiculous, right?

Ellie: Touché.

Me: Anyways, I was totally bored today, thinking about what I should write next... I was thinking about something serious but then I was like: Nah!

Mason: Then write about me!

Me: I thought about that but then I wanted to write something serious...

Penny: But you had an idea for the serious thing, right?

Me: Yeah, but then I didn’t FEEL the idea...

Jason: *rolling his eyes* Now you’re just being lazy.

Me: Eh! That’s nothing new...

Damien: *huffs* *shakes his head* How did you create us?

Me: Hey! Don’t be sassy with your creator now! You aren’t exactly being the best person in the world right now!

Damien: And who made me do all that?

Me: Your weird brain. I’m not to be blamed for your mistakes!

Mason: Well, moving on... We’ll be back tomorrow!

Me: Well...

Penny: Uh oh!

Me: Guess the speaker and the chapter and we will. You guys have 20hrs.

Xander: And the dialogue is...

Unknown speaker: Do I look like someone who enjoys hell?

Me: Hint- You have already read the chapter.

Penny: That wasn’t helpful!

Me: Well, that’s all I have! *shrugs* And if I don’t get the answer, we’ll see you in September! *Laughs like a villain*

Mason: You’re mean!

Me: I am just bored... And a little weird...

Jason: Well, until next time, stay safe!

Me and Mason: And eat CAKE!

Curtains close as all the characters and the author order an ice-cream swimming pool to swim in...
