Intro: A World On Its Head
To understand this world which we currently accept as usual, one must first understand the quintessential output of said world’s new working order. To that end, we begin our investigation with a simple definition: Phabo.
Phabo (noun)
Pha·bo | \ fā-bō \
1.Acronym: Person Having Abilities Beyond Ordinary
2.Any person to have been physiologically altered by the Rift.
3.A person with superpowers. (Does not include practitioners of Rift magic. See Neoarchanism.)
Phabo (adjective)
1.(archaic, pejorative) Not normal.
Despite their relative rarity, the phabo is—within our limited comprehension of the post-Rift universe—a key component to the prolific changes and challenges that have formed our reality as we know it today. Without the phabo (or rather, without the phabo’s highly perceptible reaction to the Rift) we may never have had cause to reevaluate the base principles of universal law. That is to say, without the phabo, monumental scientific breakthroughs such as the Quilter-Walgone Conversion Principle (see appendix C-13), the Theory of General Irrationality (see appendix C-22), and the Time-Splice Paradigm (see appendix C-42) may never have occurred.
