Chapter 58

Soft knocks sound from my window and I’m getting a sense of deja vu here. I look at the clock and it reads 3 AM. I blink a couple times and wipe my eyes to get rid of the sleep. Peeking behind my curtain, I see Amelia standing there, her hair’s a mess and a short red dress hugs her body. I furrow my eyebrows and open my curtains.

“Lukas,” She whines as I open the window, “I—you need to help me,” Amelia looks behind her and lets the thin strap of her dress slide down her arm. She did the same thing when I broke it off, got shitfaced drunk and showed up to my house in a piece of cloth.

“Come to the front door,” Shutting the window and curtains, I walk to the door and Amelia’s standing there waiting for me. She walks in and leads the way into the dark kitchen. I flick on the lights and she winces before returning back to how she was before, “Why are you here Amelia?”

“Lukey, you already know why I’m here,” She hops up onto the counter and lays back on the marble, “I want you to take me, right here,” She fingers trace the lace of her dress and she starts to untie the strings that are holding the front of her dress together.

“Hey, hey, hey,” I grab my arms and force her to sit up, “I’m not gonna sleep with you Amelia, you’re drunk.” I pick her up bridal style and carry her to my bedroom.

“You did before! You used to love when I showed up at random times in my lacy underwear. Choirboy doesn’t sing anymore does he?” I drop her onto my bed and she lifts her feet up into the air so I can help her take off her shoes. I do it and remove the black heels from her feet, “I can do this myself,” She seductively bites her lip as she unzips the back of her dress. The material drops to the floor, revealing her naked body.

“Amelia!” I cover my eyes but I feel her grip on my hands.

“Stop acting like you’ve never seen me naked before Lukas, we used to do it every day when we were both fifteen years old and experimenting.”

“That’s not me anymore okay? I don’t do this stuff,” I turn around and grab her one of my t-shirts.

“You really don’t want to have sex with me,” I hear her voice break as I hand her the shirt. She puts it on and it’s bigger than she is, “There’s someone else isn’t there? Who is she?” Amelia gets onto her knees on my bed and grabs my arms, “Is she prettier than me? What is it about her? Does she have a better body?”

I try to look everywhere but her concerned, clouded blue irises. My eyes land on the clock and it reads 4 AM. At this time, I’m lucky my mom isn’t home. Her new job requires her to work 12-hour shifts down at the hospital. 6 PM to 6 AM.

“That doesn’t matter right now alright? What matters is that you get some sleep,” I cover her with my comforter and she reluctantly lays down. Almost like a child.

“It does matter Lukas, I’m sorry for everything I did but that doesn’t mean I stopped loving you okay? It was everyone at school and the pressure for popularity, I didn’t mean for you to find out or get hurt.”

“Save it for the morning,” I say softly, turning off my bedroom light and shutting the door. I take my phone out of my pocket and dial Adrian’s number.

“How many times are you going to call me Lukas?” Adrian’s voice is hoarse and quiet.

“Amelia showed up at my house drunk and ready to go down on me,” I sit down on the couch and lean my head on my arm.

“Did you let her?” I roll my eyes and groan in a response, “I’ll take that as a no. My man, you’ve had the case of the blue balls since the middle of sophomore year, just let her get you off this once and then let it go.”

I pinch the bridge of my nose so hard I’m surprised it hasn’t broken yet, “I’m not accepting a blowjob from her Adrian, are you an idiot?”

“I thought we’ve already discussed this and plus, I’ve never had this problem. Most of the girls that approach me are sober unless we’re both drunk or high or both, so.”

An aggravated sigh escapes my lips and I bite the inside of my cheek before saying, “Can you come over, please? My mom probably isn’t gonna be home today. She likes to stay at a hotel sometimes when she works twelves.”

“Alright, I’ll come but first, ask her if she brought her sister with her, that girl is one hell of a masterpiece.”

“I’m not doing anything for you, just come over. The front door is unlocked,” I hang up on him and stand to walk into the kitchen. I start the coffee pot and when it’s finally done, I hear the front door open and close.

“Mi amigo! Adrian Silas Hernandez has come to the rescue! Now tell me, where the hell is the crazy broad?”

I shush him and lead him to my room. I open the door enough for Adrian to see her cuddling my pillows.

He raises his eyebrows and shakes his head disapprovingly, “You let her sleep in your bed? Bad idea dude, should’ve made her sleep in Melody’s.”

“What’s so bad about her sleeping in mine?” I shut the door and go back into the kitchen where I pour the both of us a cup of coffee.

“She’s gonna think she has a chance, sleeping in your bed, with your scent all night? That’s just chance central right there.”

I grimace as I take a drink of the scolding hot coffee, “Stop, you’re making it sound creepy.”

“What she did after you broke up was creepy, this? This is nothing compared to that.”

“That was a long time ago, maybe she changed since she went to Alaska?”

Adrian sets his cup down and looks me dead in the eyes, his normal smile, gone,” Or maybe she’s grown more obsessed? What if she’s been cyber stalking you this whole time and has pictures of you all over her wall? What if she kisses them every night before she goes to bed?”

“Adrian!”

He stops his storytelling and starts laughing to the point where he turns red and is gasping for air, “I’m sorry man, I’m faded as fuck right now.”

“You’re unbelievable,” I shake my head and take another long drink of my coffee. I think I’m going to need more than I brewed.
