Chapter 3

I looked up at the voice and saw, who appeared to be, my new roommate. She was very attractive, but not in a typical Hollywood way. She had long black hair which had blue highlights; her makeup was heavy with black cat-like eyeliner and dark purple lipstick. She was slightly chubby but nowhere near overweight, in a way it sort of suited her and the clothes she was wearing, which was mainly all black apart from the odd colour here or there. Her lip was pierced as well as her ears which has 3 piercings each.

She chuckled as she saw my apologetic face, "I'm just teasing you, you got here first so you call dibs. No big deal I like being near the door anyway." She kicked her shoes off and sat down on the bed, smiling. "Right, let's get intros out the way; I'm Shannon and I am not a stereotypical snob that everyone seems to think we are."

That's certainly the truth. I thought to myself, finally realising I needed to introduce myself instead of just staring. "My name is Melody Fisher. It's nice to meet you. So what subjects do you take?"

Shannon laughed, "Well, if you couldn't tell by my electric guitar I'm a musician and wannabee rock star! From your cases down there I'd say you're a musician too?"

She gestured to my instrument cases and I nodded, "Yes, although I don't play rock, I play jazz mainly."

She nodded, a strange silence fell over us then. It was slightly awkward but not to the point where I had to leave the room. It was a silence of thought, both of us interpreting each other's words as to whether we will get along as roommates.

Shannon suddenly smiled and looked straight at me, "I think we'll get along just fine. Come on, tell me more about yourself on our way to dinner. I'd say it's about time we got some food I'm starving!"

"So let me see if I got this right, your dad is a composer, your mum used to be a one hit wonder and you're here on a scholarship?" Shannon asked after I had told her about myself.

"Yeah that's pretty much it. What about you?" I asked, curiously.

"Oh well my mum and dad are in a rock band together. My dad is the guitarist and my mum is the singer. They're like the older version of Paramore."

"I love Paramore! You're parents sound cool!" I stated, unable to hide my excitement.

Shannon laughed, "Yeah? I like them too! My parents are kinda cool, especially if they make so much money that I get to go here."

I got some pasta and garlic bread for dinner, Shannon got some pizza and we sat down at a table. Shannon looks up at me while eating, "So, apart from playing music you got any hobbies?"

I smiled, "I do although my parents wouldn't really approve. I'm a huge geek. I watched anime and cartoons when my parents weren't looking. They thought that music was the only hobby I needed."

Shannon sighed, "That sucks. But it's cool that you don't seem to care that you're a geek, I respect a person who doesn't give a shit about what people think of them."

Before I could reply I heard whispering circulating around the dinner hall and girls staring lovingly at something. I turned to what they were looking at and realised it wasn't a what...rather a who.

I saw 3 boys, seemingly the same age as me, talking to multiple girls while trying to get food. The first boy I noticed had dark blue eyes and wavy blonde hair which reached the tailored shoulders of his blazer, which was left stylishly open over a crisp white shirt. He stood up tall and straight - you could almost tell he was a dancer just by his posture. His long limbs were straight but not stiff, and he held his head high. His slight amount of facial hair made him seem older however. Just by looking at his behaviour you could tell he was proud of his good looks and was very flirtatious.

The second boy had somewhat curly brown hair, emerald green eyes, lightly tanned skin and a bright smile which illuminated his pearly white teeth. He was considerably well built and his dark blue shirt helped to define his muscles. It was no wonder he was getting attention. However, his face depicted a sense of naivety, like he had no idea why he was getting so much attention.

The last boy was the tallest of the three, he wore a loose black silk shirt with leather cuffs and black trousers. His rich black hair had tousled griminess which promised finesse. He had strong arched brows and eyelashes so thick, it could be illegal. And then his eyes- they were deep and catastrophic, a vivid baby blue as a great body of water that softly melted into a milky green. He had distinct cheekbones and an angular jaw, his pale skin made him look devilishly handsome.

The three boys walked by our table, the blonde one stopped and looked at me with a smile, winked at me then caught up with his friends.

Okay...what was that? Why did he look at me like that? Weirdo.

Shannon stared at me like nothing happened, "They're so overrated anyway. I don't get why girls follow them like lap dogs."

I just looked at her, confused, "Who are they?"

"Oh they're the richest boys here, hence the fancy clothes they wear. They may be good looking but they don't really seem interested in talking to many people. They just keep to themselves most of the time."

I sighed, "It doesn't matter anyway. Come on lets go back to our room." These boys were mysterious, but I didn't think I would see them much and pushed them aside while waiting to start the new term.
