Chapter 5

Paul Word was restless in his sleep, he dreamed of a man who slurred in speech, he carried a stench so foul that Paul could smell it in the air. The week before, he had another nightmare of seeing a man with a pocketful of dirt stained bills. The man in the dream had a pungent smell from his head that flies swarmed in and flew out of his hairlines. They were anguish in their face before they fell into a pool of darkness with a bottomless end. The dark was so strong Paul ran as far away from it until he woke up drenched in sweat.

He jumped out of bed and ran into the bathroom to splash cold water to his face just like he'd been doing for the past few weeks.

He did what he knew best, he powered his laptop and waited until the screen took him to the last page he'd worked on. Paul recalled the entree that the young new Chef Damien DuVillun had served him a few hours ago and wrote it as notoriously addicting before he clicked Send and went back to bed not knowing what was awaiting in the ark.
