Chapter 20. The Reveal 2

I had woken up in a familiar room, I looked around only to realise I was in a hospital hooked up to a machine. There was a bag of blood on the stand next to me and the tube was connected to my wrist, and another bag with a clear liquid.

My body throbbed, it hurt to move. I waited for someone maybe a nurse to come so I can at least get some water, my throat felt dry and scratchy like sandpaper.

A few minutes later a nurse walked in, she had not noticed I was awake until she moved closer and looked up.

“Oh, you’re awake!” She said looking delighted. I tried to talk but I ended up coughing which made my body hurt immensely and I groaned in pain.

“Oh dear hold on let me give you some water,” she said and moved away.

She helped me sit up slowly and placed a glass of water and a straw in front of me.

I quickly drank some water and sighed in content.

“Are you in pain?” She asked looking concerned.

“Yes,” I answered in a quiet voice not having the energy to speak louder.

“Okay, I’ll give you some pain medication let me just get the doctor so she can tell you about your injuries,” she said and left the room.

I closed my eyes and waited for the doctor and took small breaths, it hurt when I inhaled too much

After a few minutes of waiting I had heard a lady’s voice and I opened my eyes, a lady with dark hair and a pleasant smile was wearing a white coat, she approached me with a clipboard in her hand.

“Hello, I’m doctor Roxan, how are you,” she asked.

“In pain,” I answered with difficulty and she nodded her head.

“Yes, you came in a very critical condition, you had cuts all over your body, bruises and scratches on your face, hands and body, three of your ribs were cracked and you sprained your leg.” She explained and looked at me asking me permission to continue nodded my head for her to continue.

“We had to give you some blood because you lost a lot of blood, stitch up your cuts, and I’m sorry but some of them were very deep and may scar,” she said looking sympathetic.

Tears fell from my eyes, hearing the news of my body being scarred hurt, but what hurt the most was the people behind it. The people behind my heartache.

“How long have I been here for?”

“It’s been a week, you lost quite a lot of blood and your injuries were extremely, so I guess your body knew it needed to heal and made your body sleep.”

I was shocked that I was asleep for a week. She must have seen the look on my face.

“Oh don’t worry, it happens, a lot of cases like these happen, once the person heals they’re back to normal.” She explained and I sighed in relief. At least I would be okay.

“Who brought me here?” I asked remembering how I was left alone in the forest. I was surprised I was even found let alone being brought to the hospital.

“The police did, and they actually want to speak to you, is it okay if I let them in?” She asked cautiously.

“Yes, let them in.” I finally said.

“Okay I’ll just call them right after I give you the pain medications,” she said and got up, she took a syringe and filled it with medicine, after she filled it she injected the medicine into the IV connected to my other wrist.

“It will kick in a few minutes later, and it may make you drowsy so don’t be afraid.” She informed before heading out.

A minute later two policemen entered.

“Hello, I’m Officer Jones and this is my partner officer Andrew, we’re sorry about what happened, how are you doing?” One of them asked kindly.

“Terrible,” I answered honestly and he nodded his head in understanding.

“Miss we would like to ask you a few questions if that is okay with you,” Officer Andrew asked and I nodded for them to continue.

“Can you please tell us what happened and when it all started?” Asked Officer Jones.

I told them about how it all started after the accident, the torture, how Gina, Zoey and her friends were the reason I’m in the hospital, how they would lock me in the room, starve me, how my caretakers turned a blind eye to all their doings and never once did they stand up or protect me.

Everything, I told them everything, this was my chance I didn’t let it go in vain. By the time I was done, I was breathless and exhausted.

The officers looked at me with shock and sympathy.

“Why didn’t you inform the police?”

“They took away my phone, I had no source, no one to support me, oh Gina’s boyfriend helped me sneak out and was there, I have a feeling he planned all this with them, they looked like they were expecting me when I went to Zoey’s house,” I explained.

“Okay miss thank you for your cooperation, you will get justice, we will see to it.” Said the officers getting ready to leave.

“Thank you officers, uh, how did you find me?” I asked the question was eating up my mind.

“We received a call from the neighbours; they heard a lot if screaming and yelling, they were afraid, so they called us.”

“I have a request,” I said before they walked out the door, my head had started spinning and I knew that I’ll fall asleep, so before that could happen I had to get them to accept my request.

“Go on.”

“Please don’t take my caretakers into custody; even though they had turned a blind eye to my torture, they still took care of me.”

They looked at each other and then back at me looking reluctant.

“Please,” I pleaded even though I knew that they weren’t here or even worried about where I was.

“Okay miss, as you wish,” they finally said.

“Thank you?” I said relieved.

I nodded my head and smiled at them. They smiled back and left allowing me to fall asleep.
