Chapter 37. Norahs man

“As soon as you’re better,” he states.

“Okay.” I shrug.

“Unless you want her to come here”

“Nope. I don’t want her to see me like this.” I say looking over myself.

“I see.” He says.

His phone starts ringing. He takes it out of his pocket and answers it.

“Is it urgent?” He asks and waits for the person to reply.

“Okay, I’ll be there.” He outs his phone away.

“You have to go?” I ask hopefully.

“Don’t sound too happy I’ll be back.”

He rolls his eyes.

“Is Norah coming anytime soon?” he questions.

“She’ll be here in a bit. Please don’t worry about me I’m much better.”

“Right. Okay, I’ll see you when I’m back.”

He walks out of the room and I hear the main door being opened and closing shut.

Finally! It’s nice that he cares but it’s just too much for me!

“Hey there,” Norah pops her head from the door.

“Hey, didn’t hear you come in.”

“I got in when Ethan was leaving,” she says as she walks into my room and sits on the bed.

She sits there for a while, oddly not saying a word.

“Wassup,” I finally say.

She sighs, “How do you trust someone?” she asks and I’m taken aback by her question.

“Uh, trust as in, trust them with your life?” I joke.

“Really?” I question and she looks at me.

“Norah, trust no one with your life, you can’t trust anyone, why are you asking?”

“I did the stupidest thing by trusting someone with my life, not just anybody he was my just asking because I’m wondering how I did fact why did I do it.

“Oh Norah” I look at her sympathetically

“I was so stupid,” she laughs at herself.

I move closer to her and hug her. She hugs me back sadly.

“Not again though. I’ve opened myself up to Hayden. But I won’t give him my complete trust.” She declares and I nod my head.

“Of course not. It takes time to trust someone, I know this.”

“Okay but forget about all this, so tell me how are things between you and Hayden?”

“It’s good he is so sweet and very uh chatty.”

“Yup asks a lot of questions.”

“Hmm like someone I know,” I say giving her a look/

“Really? Who?” she asks and I look at her.

“Me isn’t it,” she says and I giggle.

“What does he ask you anyway?”

“Just the usual about me and my friends,”

“You have friends?”

“Hey! Don’t make me hit you you’re already hurt enough.”

“I was just asking,”

“What else,”

“He was asking about you as well, how long you’ve lived here and stuff,”

“What did you say then?”

“I asked him why he cared, and he was like I just want to get to know all your friends and stuff so we can get closer,”

“Ahuh, then you should’ve asked him about his friends,”

“Why? Are you interested? Just kidding I know you have Ethan.” She says and I roll my eyes

“Okay next time maybe, he was very persistent though,”

“He does seem curious,”

“What did you tell him?”

“I just said I don’t know, then I changed the topic,

“Yeah I just told him that you moved here not from where and stuff, I haven’t even asked you about that myself,”

“Ha-ha I know right? Men are more curious then ladies, and people say the opposite,” I say shaking my head.”

“You’re so right they’re so inquisitive, oh my gosh did you hear the news?”

“No what?”

“Apparently the police think they’ve been same gang/mafia activities going on recently,”

“Oh my gosh”

“I don’t know apparently they’re still investigating and like they’ll update us,”

“Oh, omg Norah what if the people that attacked are were part of the gang?”

“What?” Ethan says we snap our heads towards the door where his voice came from.

“Ethan when did you come?” I ask.

“Just when you said something about being attacked by the gang leaders.”

“Why would you think that,” he asks a little worried.

“I don’t it’s just that Norah said that the police is investigating about the mafia or gang whatever they are so I just thought maybe that’s what they’re doing .”

“Oh,” he sighs in relief.

“Yeah, they’re probably trying to make a comeback,” Norah states

“Why after so long though?” she questions.

“It’s not that long though,” Ethan answers.

“Anyways I brought you cupcakes, Summer,” Ethan says as he passes my a box which I failed to notice that he’s been holding the entire time.

“Thank you so much,” I tell him.

On the inside stomach just couldn’t stop fluttering.
