The means of a chaotic world

As she slowly opens the door, through the gap she sees a small kid peacefully playing. She wonders what the kid was doing in her house; she had locked all doors, and all windows. She slowly walks to the boy and taps his shoulder.

The baby doesn’t turn.

So she taps his shoulder again, this time the baby jerks her hand off his shoulder.

He suddenly stops playing with his toys.

She starts getting annoyed since the baby wasn’t obeying her. But before she could even do anything. The boy turned his head in a jiffy, however he started to cry as soon as his head turned.

Worried, the woman try’s to calm the child down by patting his back. It didn’t quite work as she pat him from a distance. So she got closer and tried carrying the kid. The kid slowly calmed down, and stopped crying.

RING (telephone rings)

Suddenly the telephone starts to ring. She puts the baby back down and walks toward the telephone.

The person on the other end asks, “We have been reported of a missing baby case, do you know anything about this?”, his voice is deep, strong and articulate.

But unfortunately the woman couldn’t answer his question; she couldn’t speak.

“Hello? Can you hear me? Look we don’t have much time, so it’s better we finish this conversation quickly.”

There’s no reply. He starts getting suspicious and immediately orders his team to track down her number. “Since you aren’t contributing with our research, you must face the consequences.” There’s no reply, the call ends with only silence.

Suddenly she starts to hear someone banging on her main door. She calmly goes over and peeps through the window built next to the door. She sees seven men, all carrying weapons. She indifferently runs over to the baby and she immediately hides him in her closet, with a cloth tied over his mouth; so he doesn’t make any sounds. Then she walks over to the door and allows the seven men in.

One of the men has murdered her sister, Rangoli. His name is Samrat, “Where’s the kid?”

There’s no reply.

“Oh right! You can’t speak. Don’t worry I can read sign language.” He comes closer to her as he says this. She moves back and starts signing what she had to say. He keeps coming closer until he pins her down on the wall. “You’ve grown a lot, you know?”.

She doesn’t try to shake him off in the fear of death.

“Oh, I see. You are also being obedient. I guess you know the consequences very well.”

One of the other men shouts, “Samrat, let’s go.”, his name is Thakhur. He had helped her quite a lot in the past but he had the forcefully join Samrat’s gang. This led to many toxic changes in him.

After they leave, she rushes over to the baby and checks to see if he’s ok. Luckily the child is ok but he has a few marks over his mouth, but that’s fine. As soon as she takes off the gag the baby starts crying, which alerts Samrat’s gang.

She realizes immediately and she tries to hide the baby again, but they break in before that could happen.

“You think you’re smart? Trying to hide the baby?”, he laughs arrogantly. “Give us the baby.”

She signs, ‘NO’.

“I thought you were aware of your consequences. I guess I have to use force.” He snatches the baby away as if he’s an object. “Do you know how valuable this boy is for us? YOU, of all people must know, right?”.

She tries to snatch the baby away, fortunately the research team that had called her earlier arrives right on time. Samrat’s gang are forced to leave. “You aren’t going to get away with this.”

She soon realizes her legs were shivering, something that rarely happens to her.

“Hello mam. I see you have the baby.” She doesn’t comment at all as expected. “Are you dumb? My apologies if I’m being too straightforward.” She nods her head. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know, see if you give us the baby we’ll leave now.”

She gives him the baby. But before he could leave, she holds his sleeve as she looks down with embarrassment. He’s a little shocked, “Has anything happened Miss?”, no reply, “Sorry, can you write down what you have to say? It would help me figure out what’s going on. His enchanting eyes force her to look at him.

She writes, ‘THERE IS A GANG THAT ROAMS AROUND THIS NEIGHBORHOOD. IT IS RUN BY A MAN CALLED SAMRAT JUFA. HE RUNS A SMALL BUSINESS OF CHILD TRAFFICKING. HE HAD EVEN FORCED ME TO HELP HIM, BUT I COULDN’T REFUSE DUE TO...’ she pauses.

He looks at her and asks, “Due to...?”. She doesn’t move her hand at all. “Look mam if you want us to help you, you have to tell us everything.”

She writes, ‘I CAN’T TELL YOU ANYTHING AT THE MOMENT, ALL YOU SHOULD KNOW IS THAT SAMRAT WILL COME AT ANY MOMENT’

“Okay as you wish, also don’t worry because where’re here to protect you.”, she looks at him with relief.

He turns to his team and says, “Okay guys, we’ll be having a little sleep over at this pretty lady’s house tonight!”. He turns to her and says “Oh and by the way my name is Aksh.”
