Chapter 10 Her werewolf bestfriend

Chapter 10
Casey came to her room to be with her bestfriend and she found her lying down.

“Ave, are you okay?” Casey asked her.

“Casey, did you know that Bradley is a hybrid?” She asked her bff.

“Yeah I knew.” she replied with a nod.

“And you still let me go out with him?” She asked in a surprised manner.

“He would never hurt you, if that’s what you’re worried about.” Casey assured her.

“And as always I’m the last person to know anything about him. First I find out that he’s a Prince and now he’s not even human? What’s going to be next Case? I can’t take anymore surprises.” she said sitting up on the bed.

“Bradley has been living under his own shadow for as long as I can remember. His strength is beyond measure and that scares him sometimes. Him and his sister are the first original hybrids in the entire world, that’s why they’ve been so protected and their status has been kept secret. Bradley’s parents are afraid that his status might be compromised in some way as he gets older but on the other hand they didn’t want to treat him like a prisoner that’s why they tried to raise him like any other normal kid. They treat him as normal as possible and so far it has been working out just fine.” Casey explained.

“I hear you Case, but I need time to think as well because this is new to me. I don’t know how to act around him anymore. Maybe we shouldn’t see each other for a while until I can wrap my head around this.” she sadly stated.

“Take your time. I’m sure he’ll understand.”

“I really hope so-” she paused looking at Casey. “I’m so glad you and I are normal, we don’t have to be afraid of each other.” She continued hugging Casey.

Casey hummed nervously, hugging her back. “Hmmm.”

Avery felt her best friend’s doubt in her voice and she broke off their embrace and looked at Casey. “Is there something you’re not telling me Case?”

“What? No, no, no there’s nothing.” She lied.

“Casey I’ve known you for years and this expression tells me that you’re hiding something from me. What are you not telling me?” She asked her.

“Okay, okay I’ll tell you, but promise me that you won’t freak out.” Casey started off.

“Case you’re scaring me, what are you talking about?” Avery asked curiously.

“I’m not normal like you think Ave... My parents are werewolves like Bradley’s mom, so I inherited their form. I’m a werewolf too.” She confessed.

Avery slowly stood up from the bed, backing away from Casey. “No, you’re not.” Avery refused to believe that statement.

“Ave... I am.” She said to her standing up from the bed too.

“You can’t be. You’re lying to me Casey. You’re saying this to me because you just want to scare me away, right?” Avery said to her bestfriend as she collided with their closed door.

“Avery, you’re my bestfriend. You know me. I’m not lying to you.” Casey said to her as sincere as possible. Avery saw the truthfulness in her eyes. She knew that Casey wasn’t lying.

Casey walked closer to her and took her hand and they went to their back yard. It was private enough. Casey took all her clothes off, remaining with just her undergarments. “Casey what are you doing?” Avery asked her.

“I want you to see me in my original form. I don’t want you to be afraid of me. I learned to change into this form by channeling my inner angry thoughts. I used to be able to change into this form only when there was a full moon but now I can do it anytime when I put my mind into it.” She explained standing further away from her bestfriend, but Avery had no idea what she meant by that.

Casey closed her eyes and started groaning and heaving heavily, she screamed and it sounded like her bones were cracking, as her form changed. Avery had a terrified look on her face, her heart was beating so loud and fast while watching her bestfriend change into something out of this world. This was the first time she saw her bestfriend in a different form.

There she was. In a werewolf form. With pure beautiful white fur all over her. She smelled like a dog. She retained no human features at all, there wasn’t a slight of idiosyncrasy in her. As big as she was now, she walked slowly towards Avery but she was terrified seeing Casey in this form.

She backed away from Casey and she ran away from her. She found herself running out of their yard and onto the street. She just kept running as her thoughts clouded her sanity.

Everything up until now felt like a lie to her.

Everyone has been lying to her about their real status and identities. Everyone she thought she knew, wasn’t who she thought they were. Her bestfriend is werewolf and her boyfriend is a hybrid, meaning their entire family is not only of royal blood but they were supernatural beings. How was this even possible?

Finding all of this out freaked her out. There was only one person that she wanted to be with at this moment. She thought of her bestfriend Oliver. At this point he was the only person that could make her feel better. She ran to the orphanage, she needed Oliver more than ever.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t in her right state of mind. She just ran blindly, a lot of things were going on in her mind. She didn’t see that the red light had just turned green. She ran in the middle of the road and oncoming traffic headed towards her. The truck driver started hooting at her and that’s when she came back to reality, she automatically stopped and stood in her tracks. The driver hit the brakes but he was too late and too close to her.

Avery was suddenly shoved out of the way and she fell on her side, slightly scratching her arm which burned a little, but she quickly recovered to see who saved her life, only to see the person she was running away from.

“Casey...” she whispered her bestfriends name who was still in wolf form. She was groaning in pain, while lying on the cold floor because the truck hit her instead. Avery quickly got up with tears forming in her eyes, running towards her and kneeled by her side. “No, no, no, Casey... please don’t die on me.” She begged, with tears streaming down her cheeks. This was the first time she ran her hands on her bestfriends white fur, crying her eyes out. “Casey... I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”

A sudden ice wall was built around Casey and Avery because people were starting to see the huge werewolf lying on the street.

“We need to get your friend out of here from prying eyes. We can’t let anyone see him.” The stranger said to Avery. She wiped her tears off looking at the stranger who was under the ice wall with them.

“It’s a she. She’s my friend.” Avery corrected the stranger.

“My mistake. Anyway, let me help her for now.” He said taking out a syringe and quickly injected Casey with it, making her go back to her original human form. He took off his jacket and covered her naked body. “Our guardian can help her.” He said picking her up in his arms not giving Avery a chance to ask him what he meant and where were they taking Casey.

He walked out of the ice wall with Avery beside him. His friends were keeping people away from the scene. They all got inside one car and drove off. One of them melted the ice wall with his abilities and it melted on the road. Avery just looked at what he did and just kept quiet because it felt like everyone she meets now has some kind of super power.

Her attention turned to Casey who was coming and going out of consciousness.

“Casey, Casey can you hear me?” Avery asked her and her eyes flew open once she heard her bestfriends voice. Her hand fell on Avery’s cheek. “I’m so sorry Ave...” she whispered in her tired voice. Avery took her bestfriends hand and held it tighter in hers.

“I’m the one that’s sorry. I got scared because I didn’t know how to react to your transformation, but it doesn’t matter now. I will accept you as you are, just don’t die on me. Please hang in there, okay?” She begged and Casey slowly nodded her head.

Avery had silent tears rolling down her cheeks because she was scared for her bestfriend. Casey has always saved her from everyone and today was no different. She saved her life once again almost losing hers in the process.

“Your friend is going to be okay, one of the strangers in the car said to Avery. By the way, I’m Zadie, these are my friends Stellan and Penn.” She introduced herself and her friends.

“It’s not very pleasant to meet you all under these circumstances, but thank you for helping my friend. Her name is Casey. I still can’t believe that she’s a werewolf. I ran away from her because she revealed herself to me and yet, she still saved my life. That’s the kind of person she is. That’s why I can’t lose her like this. She’s the only person in this entire world who would give up her life for mine. So I’m begging you to save her life, please.”

“We will do our best.” Stellan replied.

They arrived at Wimbledon Chambers of special people. It's a place were people with special abilities go to school to and work. It's a founded place by a very powerful witch that saw it fit to make this place a safe place for all those special people with special abilities. Casey was an exception. The doctors there checked up on her after she was brought in by Stellan, Zadie, Penn and Avery. The doctor who was assigned for her told them that Casey needed surgery and he performed one because it was an emergency.

Penn went to let their guardian know that they brought two people to their chambers and one of them needed surgery.

“A human and a werewolf?” Her guardian asked.

“Yes ma’am. They seem to be very close.” Penn replied.

“But did you have to bring the human to our chambers? Having her might endanger our lives.” she reminded her.

“I’m sorry ma’am, we just wanted to help her friend. The situation couldn’t let us leave the human behind.” She said apologetically.

“Alright, we can just use compulsion to make her forget what she saw here, if she’s any threat to us. By the way, you did well today. Did you find any more elementals?” She asked.

“Today was a dead end. Even our locator broke while we were half way in town.” she explained.

“Don’t worry about it. We’ll continue our search as soon as the locator is fixed. Make sure our guests are being treated well then rest up. Tomorrow is still another day. Send the human to the dinning area, so I can have a word with her.” She said to Penn and left her side.

Penn walked at their infirmary and she found her friends keeping Avery company while she waited for Casey’s doctor to come and give her some good news.

“Can I ask something?” Avery said looking at each and every one of them.

“Ask away.” Zadie replied.

“What is this place?” She asked because she noticed a lot of kids training in the field when they entered the premises.

“This is our sacred place. We don’t just bring anyone, unless it’s someone like us or your friend. This place was built to protect us." Penn explained shortly.

“Anyway come with us. You’re probably hungry. We’ll give you something to eat.” Stellan said to her.

“I want to wait and hear if Casey is going to be alright. I need to know if her surgery was a success.” She said.

“Alright we’ll wait with you for a little bit then.” Penn said.

“Thank you.” Avery said.

After another thirty five minutes of waiting, the doctor finally came out of the operating room. He walked towards Avery with an impenetrable expression on his face. Avery looked at him, waiting for some news from him.

“The surgery was a success.” He started off and a look of relieve emerged on Avery’s face.

“So she’s going to recover and be alright?” She asked wanting assurance.

“Yes. Her recovery is guaranteed. She’s a werewolf after all. She’ll recover quickly.” He said.

“Can we go and see her?” Avery asked him.

“Not right now. She’s still sedated. She needs all the rest she can get. I’m going to make my rounds now. I’ll come check in on her later.” He said then left.

Avery turned to her new acquaintances. “I have no idea how am I going to reach her parents and let them know what happened to their daughter. I don’t even know if I should tell them because I’m afraid they’ll get mad at me if they find out that I’m the reason why Casey is lying here but the right thing to do is to tell them.” She kept talking without stopping because she was nervous.

She didn’t know that her parents were already here. They followed their daughters scent to this place. When Casey was hit by that truck they both felt it. Their daughter is imprinted in them so they’re able to feel everything she feels, well almost everything.

“We are not going to blame you sweetheart.” Mr. Huxley said behind her. Avery quickly turned to them when she heard Mr. Alex voice behind her.

“Mr. Alex, I- what-” she paused.

“We followed her scent and it brought us all the way here.” he replied. “How is she?” he asked about Casey.

Avery looked at them with sadness in her eyes. “The doctor said the surgery went well. Casey will recover well.” she explained.

Casey’s mom saw the sad look in Avery’s face and she knew that she blamed herself for this. If only she didn’t run away from her bestfriend maybe none of this would’ve happened. Those were her thoughts. Mrs. Huxley walked towards her and embraced her in a hug.

“Please don’t shoulder this burden. Casey wouldn’t want you to do this yourself.” She said to Avery and she hugged Casey’s mom back.

“I can’t help it. I’ve always ran away from things that scared me and today I ran away from her because I found out that she was a werewolf. Instead of trying to understand her, I ran away like a coward and almost cost her, her life.” She confessed pulling back from Casey’s mom.

“We all have our fears. No one will blame you for running away from things that scare you. Finding out that your bestfriend is what she is was obviously something you never imagined but she is alive. That’s what matters.” Penn assured her.

“Yeah I guess you’re right. I’m really glad you’re here right now Mr. and Mrs. Huxley. Casey will be relieved to see you.” She said to them.

“We’ve prepared a meal for you all, so please come with me.” Zadie who was the one that brought in Casey’s parents suggested.

Casey’s parents and Avery followed her and she took her to a dinning area and they walked in with her and the food that was prepared for them was on the table. Near the table was the couple that owned these chambers.

“Mr. and Mrs. Huxley, welcome. We’ve been notified about your arrival and we’d like to extend our sincere apologies for taking in your daughter and performing surgery without your consent.” The lady said while her husband stood beside her, side hugging her.

“We’re the ones that should apologize for coming here unannounced. We’d like to thank you for helping our daughter. Thank you, truly.” Mr. Huxley replied.

“You’re more than welcome. I’m Viviana and this is Niko Bonneville, my husband.” she introduced herself and her husband.

“It’s really an honor to meet you.” Mr. Huxley said as they gave each other handshakes.

“And what’s your name sweetheart?” Mrs. Bonneville asked Avery.

“Ohh I’m Avery Montgomery.” She said as she extended her hand for handshake.

Her second name was awfully familiar to Viviana.

Viviana shook her hand and it suddenly felt like they were both being electrocuted and they quickly pulled apart. They both felt that, but they didn’t know what just happened but Viviana felt something she has never felt before. She felt a powerful force that she has never felt before. In her entire existence she has never come across someone who had such strength, it was frightening.

Avery’s mom and her sister were always known as the most powerful witches to have ever existed. When Avery’s mom died, other witches and other supernatural beings started to lose hope. Mrs. Montgomery's sister disappeared a year after her death and she was found dead in her house too. No one ever discovered what really happened to her and Avery never knew about her since she was already under foster care. After her death everyone lost all hope and they knew that they had to fend for themselves. The two powerful witches were dead, now they had no one to protect them.

Their enemies kept slaughtering these supernatural beings until Mrs. Bonneville came to their rescue and build these chambers to protect each and everyone of them. She’s the third powerful witch to exist from the Montague clan, where Avery’s mom and sister come from. She's their distanced cousin but they never knew each other physically.

Growing up, Viviana read and heard stories about a powerful child that was going to arise and save them all but no one knew if that child existed but she had hoped that theory was true because there was only so much she can do. She couldn’t save everyone all by herself. They all needed this child to come forward and be their savior.

Mrs. Bonneville was the only witch that could discover the powerful child because of her abilities. She was the only remaining witch from the Montague clan so she was the only one who would feel and make the connection between her and the long lost child. This moment felt like she finally discovered her. She had never felt such a powerful force before.

She slowly walked towards Avery again. “You said your last name was Montgomery right?” Viviana asked her and Avery nodded. “Where are your parent’s?” she asked curiously.

That question hit a nerve but she bravely answered. “They died eight years ago.”

“I’m sorry to hear that. I need to ask you something very important. What was your mother’s birth last name?” She asked Avery.

That question made Avery remember the photo album that her mom always looked through with her showing her, her late grandparents pictures. She remembered the last name that her mom mentioned before. “Montague.” She shortly answered.

Viviana gasped in shock. She couldn't believe it.

“Honey, what’s wrong?” Her husband asked worriedly.

“This is her. The child that’s going to save all of us.” She blurted out.

Everyone was surprised at her statement because they had no idea what she was talking about.

Mrs. Bonneville took Avery’s hand in hers again and that live wire arose between them. The more she held Avery’s hand, her power overwhelmed her to a point where her nose started to bleed and she started shaking. Mr. Bonneville and Mr. Huxley tried separating them but they failed. Avery’s eyes shut close and a memory from her past entered her mind which made both of them collapse. Mr. Huxley held Avery in his arms and Mr. Bonneville held his wife in his arms and they all looked at each other wondering what just happened.
