Fresh start

They say it takes one moment to change your entire life. Everyone has that one time that could could change your life for the better or for the worse. It could be getting into the university of your dreams and achieve your dreams or you finally get justice for the one thing you care about. Many circumstances all with they own rewards and consiquences.

Question is...can we somehow make the outcome the way we want? In some situations yes others no but one thing we can't change is the fact that it will happen and the outcome is final.

If you ask me, I would do anything to know why certain things happen they way they do and to certain people. People like me. My moment, not so great.

I was sitting in class listening to Mr.Phillips our English teacher, give us our assignment for winter break. Time was going so slow. I kept glancing at the clock watching the second hand go. 'tik tok tik tok tik to-' I was snapped out of my trance by the teacher,"miss walker are you paying attention?" I quickly looked at Mr. Phillips only to find him staring at me. "Sorry sir it won't happen again."

My cheeks flushed with embarrassment. I looked around the classroom and to my relief nobody really cared as they all seemed to be in their own little world's.

Finally the bell rang. I packed all my things and headed to my locker only to find the one person I was not looking forward to see.

"Hey sweet cheeks." He said with a smirk. I rolled my eyes. " What do you want Cameron?" I spat angrily. "Oooh someone's feisty." He said laughing. Let me introduce you to Cameron Marshall, schools golden boy and quarterback of the the football team, also my ex-boyfriend.

"Go find someone else to bother or go entertain the millions of girls drooling over you." I continued arranging my locker not glancing at him once. "Aww is someone jealous, you know, all this could be yours," he gestured to himself, "only if you give in." Now the reason we broke up.

Cameron believed that because we had been dating for eight months now, I should give my virginity to him. It's not that I didn't like Cameron it's just I wanted it to be with the right person and Cameron was not the one so when I refused he dumped me on the spot and immediately started kissing another girl in front of me. Ugghhh some boys are just trash!

"Rejected you the first time Cameron and I'm doing it again why don't you go kiss some other girls." Right at that moment, Monique Alexander the girl who Cameron kissed right after breaking up with me appeared.

"Hey babe I was looki- ew why are you taking to her?" She looked at me with disgust her eyes saying he's my man now back off. Oh don't worry hun you can have him.

"You're boyfriend here," I said with a smirk,"was just offering that we meet up for activities I dare not say in public. Then again what do you expect, leftovers aren't as sweet as they seem." With that I gave them a wink and walked out of there head held high knowing I just shot down my ex. Damn girl you are on fire.

Though my victory would be short lived cause when I arrived home I didn't expect what had happened. My big brother, Jacob, was in the living room holding my crying little sister.

"Jacob, Zoey what's wrong....." I went and sat next to them. "Cassie, they're gone mom and dad got into a car accident and they died on the spot."

At that moment my body froze. I couldn't hear anything or anyone. I immediately shut down. I don't know when I started crying but I did. I cried for hours, all night. I couldn't believe my parents, my mom and dad are gone just like that. All the memories and laughter we shared, we would never again.

After a week of mourning, we buried our parents. That night, it was me Jacob and Zoey. "What will happen now Jacob?" I asked my brother who was staring at the fire in the fireplace burning.

"Tomorrow you and Zoey are going with grandpa to Middleton. I'll deal with everything back here at home but we can't stay alone in this house." I was too tired to argue so I just nodded.

I was having a hard time going to sleep when I heard a knock at my door. The door opened and I saw my little sister walk in and closed the door.

"Sissy... can I sleep with you tonight?"
"Offcoures c'mere. What's wrong?" I brought her close to me." I miss mommy and daddy."

"Me too Zoey me too...."

That one night had changed our lives forever.

Flashback over.......

I parked my white jeep right behind my brother's car and got out. In front of me stood a huge house, mansion maybe castle! I haven't visited my grandpa on my dad's side in a long time but all the memories were still there.

"Hey Cassie, could you help me with the luggage!" Jacob called out from behind me.
"Sure I'll be there in a second."

I walked up the drive way heading to the front door when suddenly the door flung open. Out came a buff looking old man. He was fit with grey hair and blue eyes identical to mine.

"Cassandra! Pumpkin come give your grandpa a hug." He smiled warmly at me and I couldn't help but smile back. I walked up to him and gave him a big hug. "I know it's not under the best circumstances but I'm glad you're here." It's nice to see you too grandpa."

"Grandpa!" Zoey came running up to us and jumped into our grandfather's open arms.

"Why hello there princess. You know I had a whole room just for you and it's pink." Immediately her eyes lit up. "For me?!"

"Go ahead and see for yourself." She dashed into the house not waiting for anyone.

"Be careful Z!" My brother said coming to stand by us.

"Hi grandpa." He gave our grandfather a hug. " Thanks for taking us in. We really appreciate it."

"Nonsense, we are family you're welcome anytime. Come on let's get your stuff into the house."

"I'll be back." I said suddenly remembering something.

I went to the backyard going down the path my mom and I used to take when I was young. My fingers slowly skimmed over the rare wild flowers that grew along the path. So many memories came flooding back to me and I could feel the tear in the corner of my eyes threatening to fall.

"I miss you so much mom. I wish you were still here." And with those words, I turned back to the house.

I needed to build back my life. It was time for a fresh start.
