Chapter 10

I arrived home and slipped into a pair of comfy sweats and tank top. Walking back out into the living room I pulled out the folder and looked over the results. As I was reading through the reports there was a knock on the door. I got up and answered it. Dominos delivery guy was standing at my door with a large pizza.

“I think you have the wrong apartment sir, I didn’t order a pizza” I said.

He asked to come in and he set the pizza down as he fished out a receipt and handed it to me. I looked at it and a small smile blossomed on my face. I looked up at the pizza delivery guy and grabbed my purse. Handing him a 5 dollar tip I lead him to the door. He said goodnight and walked off. I closed the door and proceeded to help myself to the pizza, pinning the receipt on the fridge door with a magnet. I smiled as I read the small note one more time “you always forget to eat when you work a case. Enjoy and I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Biting into the pizza I walked back over to the couch and continued looking at the reports. I smiled with triumph as I circled a name on the reports Adam Holcomb. With a yawn I put all the pizza away and locked up the file in my night stand drawer. I set my alarm for 7 and passed out. I woke up to the sound of buzzing in my room. Sleepily I turned off my alarm and hauled myself out of bed. Stretching and yawning, I made my way into the bathroom and got ready for my day.

As I came out I headed towards Shane's room. I wanted to thank him for the pizza last night. I cracked open his door and peeked in but no one was in there. Pushing it open wider I noticed his bed wasn't slept in. He spent the night with her. I quickly closed the door and took a deep breath. That little voice you hear in your head when you're trying to rationalize something started screaming in my head It's your own fault Katsia! Did you really expect him not to? She was pretty and beautiful. Everything your not. You've known him for ten years, did you really expect him to wait around when you've shown no interest in him."

I shook my head, silencing the voice in my head and headed out to start my day.
