Chapter 1
I stand in front of the mirror and look at the brown face. It was the only thing worth looking at in the mirror. The eyes are glassy. The pupils hang perfectly in the center touching the upper and lower eye lids. But they aren’t sleepy. They see nothing. About thirty seconds have passed and I haven’t blinked. The skin on my face is smooth and flat. There isn’t any tension. My head hangs forward. My shoulders are low. The muscles in my body are relaxed and have almost shut down. I couldn’t stand straight. But I am still on my feet looking in the mirror.
