Chapter 30

I quickly reached out and touched Troy’s arm hoping my touch calmed him down as much as his did me. His eye’s lightened a little bit but not enough. I stepped in between them putting my hand on his chest and looked Troy in the eye’s, “Can I borrow your notes for English?” I asked him. I didn’t need the notes but it was enough to get Troy’s focus off Jeremy and onto me.

“What?” He looked at me confused, his eyes were starting to return to normal.

“Your notes? From English?” I raised my eyebrows in hopes he would understand that I was trying to calm him down and that he about showed Jeremy what he could do with water.

“Oh, right. English notes, I’ll get those ready for you.” Troy said.

Jeremy rolled his eyes, “Great, now if you don’t mind we will be leaving. Let’s go Annie.”

I looked at Jeremy then back to Troy, I gave him a look that hopefully portrayed how much it killed me to walk away from him. The sooner we could stop hiding the better.

“I’ll see you in English?” I asked Troy.

“You’ll see me after Chemistry, I’ll be waiting to walk you to English since WE have that class together.” He gave Jeremy a pointed look.

“Whatever, let’s go Annie.” Jeremy grabbed my arm and steered me towards class. I pulled away and looked over my shoulder at Troy and gave him what I hoped was a sexy smile and wink.

Well that wasn’t very sexy but it wasn’t horrible….”Thank you for the vote of confidence.

“What is with that freak? He never speaks to anyone and now all of a sudden he wants to walk you to class? And he actually acted mad that I was walking you to class!” Jeremy shook his head in disbelief.

Nan growled in my head at Jeremy referring to our mate as a freak, “First of all, he isn’t a freak. He’s actually very nice if you give him a chance. Secondly, in all the years we have been friends you have never walked me to class. Not once. So why are you all of a sudden wanting to walk me to class?” I could tell Jeremy was taken back by my outburst but he crossed a line by being rude to my mate.

“Well now that you know how I feel about you, I want to show you how great of a mate I can be.” He looked at me with a small smile.

“Walking me to class doesn’t show me anything, it just shows that you now all of a sudden are interested because you think I haven’t found my mate!” I snapped.

“Whoa… calm down. You’re right. I should have been acting this way years ago, I should have been a better friend too. From now on I vow to be that friend, and hopefully by the end of summer your mate.” Jeremy said as we stopped outside of Chemistry. “I’m going to prove it to you every day until you chose me.”

I couldn’t even respond before Jeremy walked into class. Now not only did I have Sam after me, I also had Jeremy. I closed my eyes in frustration, what I wouldn’t give to go back to boys ignoring me.

Except for one boy right?” Nan said to me, yes except for that one boy with the ocean in his eyes.

As he promised Troy was waiting for me after class, he reached for my books as soon as I was out the door.

“Just for the record, I am not okay with some other male touching you or your things.” Troy mumbled.

“Are you sure you don’t have a little possessive wolf in you?” I teased.

“Hmph. I just hate the hiding, as soon as we figure this out Mr. ‘I’m going to carry her books’ will be the first to know you’re mine.” I couldn’t hide the smile his statement gave me.

“Yes dear, he will be the first to know.” I told him.

“Yes dear,” he repeated. “I like the sound of that.” Troy smiled down at me giving me butterflies.

After school I walked out towards the parking lot to meet Troy, I scanned the parking lot only to realize I don’t know what he drives. Great. I guess I’ll just walk up and down the aisles till I find him. As I turned down the first aisle I was stopped by Sam, I seriously could not catch a break today.

“Looking for me mate?” Sam asked getting right in my face.

I side stepped and walked around him, “Stop calling me that, and I’m definitely not looking for you.” I was stopped in my tracks by Sam pulling a fist full of my hair.

“I suggest next time I stop to talk to you, you stop and listen. You need to learn how to show some respect. You got that?” Sam let go of my hair with a shove causing me to stumble right into Jeremy’s arms.

“What do you think you are doing?!” Jeremy growled at Sam. “How dare you treat her or any girl like that!”

“Oh please, she’s fine. She needs to be toughened up a little bit if she’s going to be my Luna.” Sam cocked his head at Jeremy as if his excuse made total sense.

“She will be your Luna, but you won’t be her Alpha. Not if I have anything to do with it.” Jeremy spat at Sam.

“You cannot be serious? You?” Sam put his hands on his knees as he laughed. “Yeah right! There is no way she will pick you to be her mate. Look at you! You’re one of the weakest members of the pack, even if she did want you, there’s no way Alpha would allow it.”

“You think so?! I’ll show you weak!” Jeremy shoved Sam into a nearby car. Mysteriously the car started spewing steaming hot water from the front grill all over the both of them. How was that even possible?

I turned around when I heard a truck pull up behind me, Troy leaned out the driver side window and smiled. “Going my way?”
