Obama is re-elected. Hallelujah! I am beyond relieved that Mitt Romney and his Republican scare tactics did not work. And, that enough Democrats, women and minorities banded together to ensure that all of Obama’s progressive achievements over the last four years are not systematically dismantled by vengeful Republicans. And that Obama gets a glorious four more years to achieve even more.

But, as all the news is alluding to, there is a huge segment of pissed-off white males, who are in shock that their last bastion of hope – Mitt Romney – was defeated. My uncle is one of them. Have I mentioned before that my uncle is a saint and a financial angel, and sometimes my safety net. But with Obama’s re-election and the fiscal cliff looming, my uncle is as pissed as I have ever seen him. Not only has he been seething for the past four years under Obama, but his emotional state reached a fevered pitch right before the election, so the let-down from Romney losing has pretty much sent him over the edge. I feel for him because he has worked hard his entire life and been such a monumental financial provider for his own family. He is frightened about losing his job and his life savings, I’m sure. And, right now, there is nothing I can do to return the favor and help him financially. I wish there was.
