My eyes flew open. What is going on?! Oh, just another earthquake. That volcano is getting worse, it keeps rumbling! With a long sigh I got up. Today, the first of August, will be long since I had no sleep last night.

After breakfast I had to go to the market. I have a terrible feeling but nothing is wrong. I passed the baker, the sweet smell of fresh bread that made my mouth water filled the air - and my lungs.

Then, of course, as soon as I let my guard down there was another earthquake! I tried to grab something to stop me falling but came up empty handed. Instead some man - the baker I guessed - grabbed my arm. Thank you Lord!

Once it stopped he let me go and wandered back to his shop - or what was left of it - as it was now just rocks and corpses. I picked up the messages and ran back home. My Mum was there. As soon as she saw me she left and so I started to cook lunch. Again.

It was dark outside. Too dark. Like nighttime. Something was wrong. I felt sick, really sick and then it happened. There was a loud noise as the earth shook. It lasted for several minutes. I was not worried, no one was. Until the sky turned red that was.

I ran outside and my heartbeat and breathing stopped. The sky was red and rocks were flying everywhere! My heart started to beat at double its normal speed but I had more things to worry about. Like the rocks covered in fire flying towards me.

Deleted User: An unusual story, well worth reading. Good conversations, excellent prose, and keeps my interest, maybe because I was there, back in the day. You won't be able to pt this book down.

sujitha nair: What's so distinct about this story was that it could easily be real.Praveena can be your classmate, neighbor or that girl you saw at the coffee shop today. The important decisions she makes and the dilemmas she faces, remind us of our own twisted lives.

Patrick Johns: The Prince was an exciting read. I enjoyed the spoiled bratty protagonist and his drastic change through out the story. The world building was well though out and clear. The author did a great job painting a picture for the reader without having a map. I liked the connection to real life leaders....

Avell Kro: I've only just started reading this, but I can see that this writer really knows her stuff. Her theme is painful and traumatic, and her sense of place is deep and strong.
