Pompeii

Ash fell like snow,

Settling upon my eyelashes

Molten tears ran down faces

And boiling ice rained down from the sky


I was incased in a prison of porous

Blood trickled through the streets

Flame licked flesh

And bone melted like butter


Lava flooded my veins,

My lungs, a suffocating heat

Black smoke clouded my vision

A scream parted my lips


No one heard, the lava had consumed them

Just as it would me,

I lied down amongst the ashes

And watched the sky scream.
