Chapter 5

After an hour of explaining about why I faked my death. I had noticed to things.
1) Renee had a ring on her finger
2) Anna was wearing expensive clothing.
My mom spent the first half crying over seeing me and the next fawning over my three kids. Carsyn still remained attached to my side and refused to let anyone touch her.
"And your sure that they are Ryders?" My mom asked again. I nodded.
"I wasn't sleeping with anyone else. And Sam and I got together after I knew I was pregnant. It can't be anyone else." I said. I gently tucked my boys into bed, Carsyn crying that I wasn't with her.
"I'm going to have to take her to a doctor." I said.
"She hasn't felt well lately." I said.
"Okay, goodnight love you." I said and kissed them both.
"Love you too." Owen whispered before turning over. Alex was already asleep.
"Mommy, I can't find... my elephant." Carsyn said, she rubbing her eyes.
"Okay baby." I said getting up from the bed. My mom chuckled a little before heading off to her room. I picked her up and opened the door to the hallway by the grand staircase. We had gone to downstairs for dinner and I remember seeing it there.
"Do you know where you left it?" I asked her, heading down the stairs. She shook her head and laid her head down on me.
"Looking for something?" Ryder asked, going up the stairs.
"Yeah she lost her elephant." I said. "Oh I was just bringing it to you." He said and of course in his hand is the elephant.
"Elli!" Carsyn exclaimed and reached out to it. Ryder took her from my arms and I stood there awkwardly.
"Carsyn, do you want Ryder to tuck you in? Or me?" I questioned.
"You." She said and returned to me, but not before kissing Ryder on the cheek.
"Night Ryde" She said.
"Night little girl." He said, I could have sworn I saw the tiniest smile form on his lips. She waved bye as we closed the door.
Why was my heart beating so fast?

"So Renee are you're engaged?" I asked. She nodded excitedly. We were currently walking down the street, one member of our gang was following us, probably due to either dad or Ryder's request. They seemed to work very close together.
"I'm sorry, is this guy new? I mean I can sense him, he is way to close." I said finally getting fed up with his man trailing us.
"Yeah, recruited last week. Owed us some debt. He's paying it off." She said.
"Okay, so who's your husband to be?" I questioned raising an eyebrow at her.
"Her name is Jessa." She said. "Oh. How did mom take it?" I questioned. "She took it well I think. Dad said that was fine, though I guess he didn't mind, you kind of freed me from having children biologically." She said. I nodded.
"Are you considering adopting?" I questioned. She nodded. "Yeah, Jess and I want some children, I know she wants at least one biological kid." She said.
"Well then, do you?" I questioned. She shook her head.
"I'm fine just being a mom, and her kid will still be my kid." She said. I nodded.
"But first we want to get married." She said. "I Figured. When is it going to be?" I questioned. "It's going to be, in about two months. I hope that your still around." She said.
"I will be now that mom and dad know about me." I said.
"I just don't know where my place is in this family anymore. If we hadn't left I would probably never would have met Ryder and I wouldn't have the three kids I do have." I said.
"Imagine it, all because you fucked up a mission." She said with a sigh. I nodded. "Hey it was a hard mission. Anyway god I never wanted kids but now that I have them, I never want to leave them. I'll do what I have to do in order to keep them safe." I said.
"Okay. I understand. Do you know what they want from you yet?" I shook my head.
"Girls we have to get going back, your father needs to speak with you." The follower said. I nodded and we walked slowly back home, before the chaos would erupt.

"Dad, you can't do that. I don't want it." I said rubbing my temples.
"It isn't up to what you want. It's YOUR job." He said pointing a finger to me at 'your'.
"I left, and you expect me to want to run this thing? I have no idea what I'm doing." I exasperated. "Who will I be first? A mom, or a leader? Not to mention a gang leader." I said as I got up.
"I left for a reason, I didn't want to have to be forced to live in this life anymore. I don't want my children to grow up in this life either." I said.
"It's your job, and your oldest will take it up as well." He said.
"I hear that it's Carsyn. Is that true?" He questioned with a raised eyebrow. I nod.
"Depending on how Alex and Owen grow up, they might challenge her for that. But it is her right." He said with a sigh. "Trust me, she won't want to let them have it. But if she doesn't want it? Then it'll go to the others. Only it will go to Owen since he is second born." I said.
"In the old days we would have the multiple children fight to the death over it." He said with a smirk. "Well this isn't the old days. Now is it?" I challenged with a smirk.
"No it isn't but it will be if you don't change some things up around here."
"I'm really going to have to do this?" I questioned. He nodded.
"Fine lets go get this over, I'm ready." I said and moved my arms in circles.
"Are you really?" He questioned.
"No."
