A Fight Against Satan...And Myself

Prologue

Some might believe that heaven is nothing more than a fantasy. That God is a being that we’re told about to make us feel better when our loved ones die. That he doesn’t exist. The people who say those things are wrong. God is as real as you, me, and the sky above us. He’s as real as the birds in the sky and the fish in the lake. We see him as clearly as we see fresh green grass billowing in the wind. God is real. Everything is real. Even the things that we’ve never seen are real. That is God’s work. That is why he created me. He made me with the ability to possess some insight into the future.

What I know, though, are things that cannot be seen. The true definition of faith is to know what is real, even when we can’t see it. That is how I know. I know that what I see in dreams, or in the waking world, are real as well. However, what I’ve seen has harmed me. Though I may seem crazy, I know this to be true. Satan has tried coming after me and my family multiple times. Each time, I have resisted his influence. I refuse to give up.

He’s tried to hurt me physically. He tries to hurt me mentally by pushing bad thoughts into my mind with little to no warning. Those thoughts were of murder and self-harm. From the beginning, I knew that those thoughts didn’t come from me. Satan tries corrupting my family, foolishly thinking that I wouldn’t realize the truth. Now, recently, he is the reason that my mom died. He tampers with us all.

I know the reason for this. My knowledge of the yet to come puts us all in danger. Satan attacks anyone that is close to God. When he found out that I couldn’t be taken down so easily, he came after my family. We must all possess a strong mind and a strong heart if we are to resist the temptations of Satan.

So, readers, understand this world that I am about to show you. This world of people who have knowledge unlike others. Come and see what is yet to come.

Avell Kro: I've only just started reading this, but I can see that this writer really knows her stuff. Her theme is painful and traumatic, and her sense of place is deep and strong. Being originally from Yorkshire myself the story resonates with me personally, but this is good writing. I look forward to com...

littlebite22: This made me think. About the world around me, about what I think of others. We rarely get to see or hear what others think, and this is such a great example of not judging a book by its cover. Also very well written.

Hadley Swiss: I loved the way you wrote this story. It was easy to recognise the characters, and it was a new plot I hadn't read ever (as in, it was different to any other, without any cliches as far as I'd read.) The dialogue was good; your characters seemed realistic. I also enjoyed the action and the settin...

Deleted User: I can easily identify with the characters as having gone through those terrible times myself. The writer has skillfully brought yet another side of those days to life. A good read which I recommend to everyone.

His thought processes, his memories, everything was so beautifully and forcefully made aware. The descriptions were vivid and detailed. At times, I did t...

sujitha nair: What's so distinct about this story was that it could easily be real.Praveena can be your classmate, neighbor or that girl you saw at the coffee shop today. The important decisions she makes and the dilemmas she faces, remind us of our own twisted lives.

Xavier Fair: If ever you wondered what REAL people with REAL desires would do if given powers, the constant battles they would face, or the possible self loathing that comes with being different, this is the story for you. Well structured, relatable and best of all you come out caring for the characters. I wi...

Silver: Its a very good story you have here. Felicity´s ability is interesting and original, I love it. The setting of a hostpital was a good choice, especially since we get the scene with the other interns, gives it a very real feel. There wasnt much plot for me to rate, so I´ll update as the story prog...

Colin Milroy: To begin, I don't think that the first review of this story was fair at all. Based on the popularity of this story, I would say the one-star review hasn't done much harm, but I still felt the need to address it. Now I will do my best to be constructive.I liked the concept of this story. I found i...
