Chapter 1

It was the beginning of Spring. The garden was crowded with sweet-smelling flowers that swayed with the flow of the breezy, morning wind. I was so persuaded by the beauty that I had forgotten how astonishingly cold it was. Mommy told me to stay inside.
Sometime later on the morning, a couple of kids swarmed outside. They were playing. I could not help but feel jealous. I stared at the glass door for a while but then I heard someone say my name. 'Oi Nelly, come join us. We are playing tag.' I saw all of their heads turning around to glare at me. I approached the door handle and slid it open. At that very moment, I was struck by a vast amount of cold, dry air. My lungs were overwhelmed. I let out a feverish cough. 'Come on Nelly, it is not that cold.' Those words echoed in my mind as I dragged myself towards them. Some of them laughed. I did all this for the sake of not losing friends.
