Chapter 10

December 25, 2013

Dear Luke,

In six months you are going to be leaving for college. In six months I will not see you everyday at lunch, or pass you in the halls or talk to you on a daily basis. Christmas made me realize how many things I’ve taken for granted. I realized that I’m really going to miss you when you leave. I hope you stay close by so I can visit. But the most important thing I learned is that I like you, like really like you, as in I love you. And that is why it is going to hurt so much when you leave. I also realized that I can never tell you any of this until you are leaving, because I would not want you to hold back so you can stay with me. And if you did not like me I didn’t want you to feel obligated to...if that makes any sense. Probably doesn’t. Point is, I want what is best for you. Even if that means you have to leave me behind.

Dear Luke,

We have been on the road since December 18th. First Florida, then Arizona. We did not get to see any dolphins, but other than that Florida was awesome. Hot, humid, it rained a lot, but the rain was warm and felt great if you stood out in it and let it soak you through. Can’t say the same for Arizona. It was cold and extremely dry. I swear at one point I could literally see the skin flaking off. I got sick after a few days, but it is wearing off now.We go back to school on Monday. Can’t wait to see you.

Dear Luke,

I got my new schedule for next term. Our school has two Terms and 4 quarters. We have four periods a day. Every term we switch classes. But you know that. First period I have Drama, second I have Algebra 2 third I have English 2 and fourth I have Internet Publishing. My dad wants me to improve my vocabulary and learn a few new words. Today I learned cacophony. Cacophony is a harsh discordant mixture of sounds. I.e my dad all the time. Least that is how I remember it.

Your friend,

Raine
