I woke up to the obnoxious ringing of my alarm. Why is it so loud... I groaned as I reached over and grabbed my phone off my nightstand. I squinted at the brightness and pressed the
“off” button. I yawned then laid back down staring at the ceiling. Man. I’m so tired. I laid there staring at the ceiling, drowning in my thoughts for a few more minutes.
I got up out of bed and I decided to take a shower. I got my towel then I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and took a shower. After my shower, I went back to my room and got dressed. I just put on a pair of dark blue jeans and a grey zip-up hoodie. I grabbed my backpack and placed my binder inside. I then grabbed my keys and my bus card. I walked downstairs to the kitchen and just grabbed a bottle of water and I took some of the leftover candy from yesterday and put them in my bag.
I made sure I had all my stuff then I texted Ash to meet me at the bus station. I walked outside and locked the front door. I started walking to the station, listening to my music. I headed down the street and took a few turns until I saw a small crowd standing at the stop. I recognized them all, but we weren’t friends so I just did a small wave. I was just listening to my music when someone took one of my headphones out of my ear. I looked to my right to see Ash.
“Good morning” I smiled. “No. Bad morning” they said. I just laughed and went back to my music. After a few minutes, I saw the bus making its way to our stop. I stopped my music and put my phone in the back pocket of my jeans. We all got on the bus and swiped our cards. I saw on the closest seats to the door and to the left of me was Ash and to the right of me, a familiar friend.
“Hey” I waved at him. He just waved back and smiled. I then closed my eyes and leaned back in my seat, drowning out everyone else and losing myself in the music. After what felt like ages, I felt someone shake my shoulder gently. “Monique come on, let’s go,” Ash said. “Yea I’m coming,” I said. I threw my backpack over my shoulder and pulled my jeans up. We got off the bus and made our way inside.
I started shivering and picked up my pace. “No what are you doing,” Ash said. “Bitch. It’s cold” I said. We started walking to our homeroom. We both waved at familiar people since we basically had the same friend group. I was almost to my class when I felt someone tap my shoulder. I looked back and saw Denzel. My eyes widened and I looked up. “Not you stalking me,” I said. “He’s stalking you?” Ash said raising their eyebrow. “He lives right next to me” I whispered to them. “I just happen to go here,” he smiled. I squinted my eyes at him and Ash did the same. “Hmm okay....” I said.
“I’m just kidding you’re fine. What class are you going to?” I asked. I noticed he still looked uncomfortable. I looked over to see Ash still glaring at him. “Damn Ash, is he that fine?” I said. Ash stopped glaring at him and I saw him loosen up. “I’m going to room 324,” he said. “Okay, you can follow us. We’re going there too” I said. I heard Ash groan and I looked at them. “Be nice” I said. “No” they smiled.
I just rolled my eyes and we all kept walking. We walked inside the room and the first person I saw was Indigo. “FINALLY,” I said. We all walked up to them and Ash and I sat on both sides of them and Denzel sat to my right. “Okay now spill,” I said. “What happened to hello? How are you?” Indigo said. Denzel and Ash started snickering and I just glared at Indigo. “If you don’t-” I said. “Okay fine,” Indigo said.
