I was just chilling in bed when I remembered I was going to hang out with Aran. I was lowkey really excited but I decided to contain my excitement. I hopped out of bed and went to take a shower. After I finished taking my shower, I went to my closet and started to look for an outfit. It wasn’t very chilly out so I decided I could wear a skirt.

I pulled out a black and dark blue plaid skirt. First I pulled my fishnets over my thighs. Then I pulled out a thick pullover. It had one long black sleeve, and the other sleeve was long but only black to the shoulders. It had “cause you left me when I needed you” written on the black sleeve. I pulled it over my shoulders and pulled the skirt over it. I tucked the hoodie into the skirt and moved it around until I felt comfortable. Then I opened my drawer and grabbed a chain. I hooked one ends to one of the hooks on the waistband of my skirt, and I hooked the other end two places over.

I finally finished putting my outfit together and I layered a chain, a choker, and two necklaces around my neck. I slipped on some black socks and picked up my chunky black platforms and put them next to my bed. I walked back to my dresser and picked up my liquid eyeliner and did a basic eyeliner look. I picked up my mascara and started to apply it to my eyelashes. But I accidentally ended up poking my eye. I started to tear up and I threw my head back and blinked the tears away.

After the pain finally started to reside, I continued applying my mascara. After I finished, I placed the mascara on the dresser and sat on my bed waiting for Aran. I was just scrolling through Tiktok when I got a message from IG. I opened the app to see a message from Aran. The message read: “Hey wanna go to the fair?”

I responded with: “Yea sure” and he said he would be here in five minutes. I grabbed my platforms and pulled them over my socks. Then I grabbed my keys and put them in my bag. I also grabbed my pepper spray. After the situation yesterday, I bought some on my way from Ash’s house just for precaution. I grabbed my wallet and my phone and made sure I had everything I could possibly need.

“I’m leaving!” I yelled. “Be back early. You have school tomorrow. And call me if you need a ride” my dad said. “Okay bye,” I said as I closed the door. I stood on the porch while I waited for Aran. “Hey dumbass” I heard. I looked up to see Aran waving at me. I waved back and started to walk towards him but I stopped in my tracks when I realized our outfits kind of coordinated.

He had on a long sleeve, light blue collar neck t-shirt with a short-sleeved, black t-shirt on top. There was a silver Figaro chain around his neck that had a small lock hooked onto it. He had loose black jeans on and there were small compartments that went around his waist.

“Hey” I waved. “Not you copying me,” he said. “I didn’t know what you were gonna wear,” I glared. “Okay okay let’s go,” he said while gently pushing me with both his hands on my lower back. We had to walk for a good fifteen minutes due to the fair being on the other side of the neighborhood. We just talked about school, food, and games.

Aran and I are pretty good friends. We’ve been friends since 7th grade but we got a lot closer in our years of high school. “Monique almost killed me the other day because I told her I don’t like cake,” he said. I slapped my hand over my mouth and tried my best not to laugh. Then he looked over at me, squinting his eyes which made me burst into laughter. A small smile formed on the corner of Aran’s lips. “Dumbass,” he said under his breath while shaking his head. “You’re okay I don’t like cake either,” I said wiping the imaginary dust off my skirt.

“Really?” he said raising his eyebrow. “Yea. I don’t like the texture” I said. “Gotcha,” he said while nodding his head. We kept walking and talking for about ten more minutes when we finally reached the fair. There weren’t a lot of people present which may be due to the cold. It wasn’t very chilly out but I wasn’t complaining. I hated crowds and long lines so there was a pro.

We walked up to the ticket booth and Aran bought about 45 tickets. “What do you wanna do first?” I asked Aran. “Up to you” he shrugged. “Hmmm let’s get ice cream,” I said. “Okay,” he said and he gently took my hand and we walked to the ice cream booth. “Hey kids what can I get for you?” a tall woman smiled at us. “I’ll have vanilla please,” Aran said. “I’ll have cookie dough please,” I said.

“Okay, would you like a cone or bowl?” she asked. “Cone,” we both said. “Okay give me a second”. We stood there and watched as she took a cone and scooped some vanilla ice cream and placed two scoops in the cone. Then she handed it to Aran. “Thank you,” he said. Then she repeated the same process and handed me my cone. “Thank you,” I smiled. “No problem” she smiled.

I reached in my bag and paid for both of us since he bought the tickets. We walked around the fair as we ate our ice cream. My life flashed before my eyes when I felt my face get dipped into my cone. I slowly looked up at Aran who was dying of laughter. “Die,” I said. “Gladly” he replied smirking at me. I just glared at him while wiping the cold substance off of my face. I took my bottle of water and poured some water on the napkin and wiped my face again so it wouldn’t be sticky later. Aran took the napkin from my face and helped me wipe it off. I felt my face get hot as he stood inches away from me.

“Okay you’re good now,” he said. “Thanks,” I said. “Okay so what do you wanna do now?” he asked me. “We can go play games” I suggested. “Okay let’s go,” he said, grabbing my hand. We walked over to the games. First, we played the game where you throw a ball and knock down mini bowling pins. ( I don’t know what it’s called 😐)

“I’m gonna kick your ass. Not literally” Aran said. “We’ll see,” I said. He squinted his eyes at me and I just laughed and put my bag down. I picked up one of the colorful balls and threw it at the pin. I repeated this continuously until all of them were down. Which took me about 30 seconds. I looked over at Aran who still had most of his pins up. “All bark no bite,” I said, under my breath. He slowly turned his head over to look at me. “Did you say something....?”
